I bought one of these for live use and to use in a studio setting. It does the live thing perfectly - just slap a sm58 on and you're good to go. Great quality, especially for the small price tag. For anything heavier than a 58, however, you had better look into something more heavy-duty. It takes quite a bit of maneuvering to get some of my lighter condenser mics to not tip this thing over. For live use, though, this stand can't be beat!

Comments about Proline MS220 Tripod Boom Microphone Stand:

This is a great mic stand. It's priced right and will hold most mics. When I was checking out at GC I was asked if I needed the clip for the mic. I told the salesman no that my Heil Mic came with one. For sure when I got home to set it up it fit perfectly. I recommend Proline products for all musicians.

Had the same experience as other comments. Thought I'd try it but the same issues with stripped, not able to secure boom extension. The item looked like it had been repackaged and sold anyway!??

Comments about Proline MS220 Tripod Boom Microphone Stand:

The joint where the boom swivels on the base pole will start to slip on even the Dr's I have. JUST find an old belt and replace the rubber washers with 2-in pieces of the belt with a hole in the middle, careful not to poke yourself making a hole on the middle. Good for another year or so. Gig equipment gets abused if you are gigging allot and things wear out.

Comments about Proline MS220 Tripod Boom Microphone Stand:

I have used a wide variety of mic stands and I can safely say that these are by far the worst mic stand on the market today. I have owned ten of these (I purchased them all when I need a load of stands in a pinch) and nearly every one has failed within two years of light use. I didn't tour with them, they sated in a studio setting. Mind you I am very careful with my gear as well. Within a year, the thread assembly has worn out on nearly every one, causing your clips to get stuck while at the same time, impossible to fully tighten. The clutch is weak and needs to be cranked to hold a 57 in place, and sort of LDC will droop. Not that I would trust an LDC on one of these. The lower thumbscrew that holds the shaft to the feet has stripped on some of them as well. I could go on and on about how much these stands suck, but the point is, shell out an extra $20 for some K&M or DR Pro stands.

The tilter for the boom cannot be tightened enough to keep the boom from falling, even without a microphone attached! Awful!

Comments about Proline MS220 Tripod Boom Microphone Stand:

I never even used this thing on a stage or any other critical application. I used it for about 5 months in my BEDROOM. It had one job: hold up my relatively light Blue Spark microphone. I hardly even used it a lot either. After 4 months, the boom joint (the thing with the rubber washers and bar that screws to hold the boom in place vertically) will tighten but no matter how much you tighten it, it WILL NOT hold the boom in place AT ALL. I took it apart a little bit to look at the components. The rubber used is hard and rigid and is slick and not vulcanized like a tire. That's the issue: the rubber washers have hardly any elasticity or grip. Imagine using something slightly more pliable than a vinyl record as a material for car tires. That's how absolutely idiotic this is.

                At least it CAN stand.

Comments about Proline MS220 Tripod Boom Microphone Stand:

I needed a mic stand, and to be honest, yes it has worked for me -- I've used this stand for like 2 years now, so obviously it works. But I also have a dent in my mic now thanks to this flimsy, wobbly stand. I have a medium weight microphone (ST51) and I've dropped it at least 10 times in the process of owning this stand, simply because the BOOM causes the weight to offset and it WILL fall. The only way I've managed to make the boom function without falling is by putting exercise weights at the bottom of it to keep it grounded. Today I was contemplating buying an sE Reflexion filter, so AUTOMATICALLY I told myself "I'm gonna need a new stand" because it's actually HEAVY. So I figured I'd drop a warning on here so people who actually want a competent stand will avoid this one. Of course it works. Of course it gets the job done. But would I recommend it? No.
