NEW REVIEW - Yeah, but it was a good idea...almost.
Who does not hate having single guitar stands strung out all over the stage or wherever. I bought some 3 guitar stands but with different types of guitars (acoustic/electric/dobro/banjo) the headstocks banged together no matter how I adjusted the things. Next, I bought 2 guitar stands but found that it was really easy to knock the stand over when removing one of the guitars. Last I bought a 5 guitar stand like the one sold here. Cheap is not really the word. I had to bang, push, bend, and curse to get it together. Guess what, it worls well for 3 (three ) guitars. As for 5 (five), that will work if you don't mind the guitars banging together in a much too narrow stand. I could buy a seven guitar stand so that I gould get,MABYE, 5 in the stand...NAH! There has to be a solution short of MEGA BUCKS!!!

NEW REVIEW - Stand functional, but bad quality control and assembly instructions
Purchased this stand because my current 3 way stand holding guitars in a triangle wasn't working well.
This stand is well padded, can fold down and is certainly functional for most guitars. I'm not sure how the V or star type guitars would do with it, but I don't own one to check that. Traditional guitar designs are fine.
I wish it has some sort of device to insure the guitars could stay in (like rubber across the "slot" for each opening. However, that's really not needed as you can tilt guitars such that gravity keeps them in. Would just save space for basses with long necks as I could keep them more vertical. Spacing means that acoustic guitars will have to go on the ends if they are very deep.
My complaint is about assembly. The pictures make it more complex then it needs to be. They just needed one picture with the screws numbered pointing to the holes and enough detail so you could tell the orientation of different parts. They give 4 pictures, but the large one doesn't have enough detail to be useful for assembly. The smaller pictures are too close a view for me to understand what I'm looking at. I had to turn parts around a few times to get it right.
And on top of that, it there was one part that simply didn't fit with two others. I had to drill two holes larger as they were off so much that I could not get the bolts through to connect the parts. Once I did that, it was fine.
On the plus side, they do give you an alan head and wrench of sorts so you don't need any other tools (assuming the holes are right)

Crap.
So I bought one of these ProLine 5 guitar rack stands. Start putting it together, seems simple enough, and then I start trying to put in some of the hex screws. Turns out, HALF of the some 12 holes cut for screws are mishapen or cut COMPLETELY off from how they're supposed to be. With only 3 major pieces you'd figure it'd be hard to screw it up, but nope, the "experts" at ProLine found a way to mess it up. Hell, one of the holes was a good 2cm out of alignment with the matching hole.
Way to go, guys.

Not total crap
I really wanted one of these until I read the review entitled "crap." However, after looking around a bit I couldn't find anything that really seemed that much different and I really needed to store 10 guitars so, being handy with tools, I thought I could work around the problems and I took a chance and ordered 2.
Everything the review entitled "crap" says is true. The flanges for the upright posts were crooked and had to be straightened out and one of the holes for the screws didn't line up and had to be redrilled. One of the nuts with a nylon bushing was defective and had to be replaced. Like many things made in China these days these obviously ship from the factory with multiple defects. However, I was able to correct them all and in about an hour I had 2 really nice guitar racks that hold all of my guitars. I'm very glad I bought these racks.
So what is the bottom line? If you are handy with tools you can repair these as you assemble them and end up with a nice guitar rack. If you are not handy with tools avoid this product, you will not be pleased with your purchase. If they didn't have all the defects I would rate them a 5, but I have given them a 4 because even with their problems they can turn out to be quite nice.

Works great
Gee I guess I got the only perfect one because mine works great. Not a single bad screw or misaligned hole. I put it together in 20 min without a problem.
Good price as well at my local GC. It's good enough to hold my $5,000 Les Paul as well as 4 more in my working collection.

Solid Stand, Albeit A Bit Awkward to Setup
The rumors you have heard have come true in my case. You do have to do a bit of bending of the metal in order to properly put it together. But, once that hassle is over, you have yourself a rock-solid stand that does what it says. Not recommended if you own nothing but acoustic guitars or are extremely protective of your equipment, however, because if you don't set a guitar down quite right, it will bump into another one fairly easily.

Not total junk
I bought mine a month ago and I do agree with the other review. I did have some trouble putting it together but with a little bending I was able to get it together. I only had one screw hole that didnt line up properly hense the bending. Once it was together though, it was solid. Ive slid this thing around on the carpet loaded with guitars and it held together great. I would consider buying another one, but only if I couldnt find a better one.
