  • Great Barrel Jack for a Mono Guitar With ability to use with active PU's

As reviewed by James Vining on 2/14/2012

This is not a TRS Plug as I seen stated it is a 1/4 Mono Jack (Typical output jacks on Guitars are Mono) But this plug has a extra feature that was not on my original Jack, It has an extra Connection which allows you to connect the ground wire on active PU's if you use them, When I bought my Seymour Duncan AHB-1s Blackouts for my 7 string it came with a Stereo Jack so I could connect the ground wire to allow the jack to become an on/off switch when you connect the cable but It was not a barrel jack style so I was expecting to have to purchase a stereo Barrle jack if I decided to install active pickups in This guitar. I have been having Issues with my original Mono Jack on my Ibanez RG570 for some time now and have been making due by using o-Rigns to hold jack at certain spot to allow connection when finally that quite working so I found this one. It installed easily, was exact same size as Original Jack and as stated noticed it had the extra contact point in case I was using active PU's I have not had any issues with Jack it appears to be well constructed and works great and it was priced at a bargain compared with some of the jack I had seen while searching for a replacement. I recommend this jack for anyone who needs to replace their barrel jack whether you are using Passive or active PU's.

  • Nice... But...

As reviewed by Shawn Murray on 2/13/2010

This is a TRS connector, but there are no instructions that tell you which connector is what, the connectors are not labled in any way, and you cannot look at the connectors & tell where they lead to. Proline does not have anything on their website either, so I can't even use it :(

  • Seems decent enough

As reviewed by veganMalcontent on 2/23/2010

Not bad at all for a no-name jack. Fit and finish is maybe even a little better than switchcraft has been lately. Shorter than switchcraft, which is actually much appreciated in a tight cavity. To the person who can't figure out the lugs... plug in a TRS cable and use your multimeter to test continuity between lugs and TRS plug stages. ;-)
