Comments about Presonus StudioLive 32 Digital Mixer:

We purchased this board about a month ago replacing our original Studiolive 24. This board has been an amazing upgrade.

Built in compressors, limiters, gates, and EQ on every channel make it extremely easy to get your mix dialed in.

The "16 flex mixes" that are built in make it easy to setup monitor mixes for every member or your band or they can be configured as additional subgroups. Each member of our band has their own mix that they can control via the QMIX app that is provided by Presonus, that means our sound man can focus on the main mix instead of having to constantly stop what he is doing to fix someones personal mix. We also have a set of these flex mixes setup as a broadcast mix that our broadcast engineer can control independently from the main mix using an iPad, so this saves us from having to buy a split snake and a second mixer.

The preamps on the Studiolive 32 are crystal clear with no noise even at higher gain settings.

The motorized faders are high quality and make recalling mixes or mixing though DCA tacks a breeze.

This mixer is one of the most versatile and well built mixers I have ever used and I highly recommend it.

    Livestudio 32

Comments about Presonus StudioLive 32 Digital Mixer:

For the impatient, like myself, I ordered right away and waited for 4 months to finally get the mixer.
I bought the mixer, strictly, for studio use, assuming with the name Studiolive, that Studio came first and then the Live mixing ability, or at least, in equal parts.
    I assumed wrong!

For me, the Studio user, at this point, the Studiolive 32 is a huge disappointment.
The majority of the features, this mixer currently has, cater to live use, with only a handful that function in the studio environment, that is after Presonus gets everything functioning
With traditional analog recording consoles, it has always been the practice to, adjust the input signal through Gain, EQ, sometimes small amounts of Compression and Gating, and rarely, but sometimes even a small amount of ambient reverb, to record the best possible sound to the track.
Occasionally further EQ adjustments are made, if necessary, during mix-down, and affects are added.
It has always been standard practice to add the least amount of signal noise during mix-down.

With the Studiolive, although everything I just mentioned can be applied to the input, unlike with live sound, the Fat Channel is Bypassed, when sent through the USB wire.
Yes, you will hear how you affected the sound, in the monitors, but, that is NOT the sound that is recorded to the track.
For recording this mixer functions like every other, cheap or expensive, audio interface out there, and simply passes the un-enhanced signal through to the DAW for recording.
That makes perfect sense for mixer-less recording, since the DAW is the Mixer.

Forget having the choice of doing it your way with the Studiolive 32!
Presonus decided for you that you didn't deserve the choice in how you want to record.
Their philosophy seems to be the long standing studio Joke; don't worry we will fix it in the mix!
    Yeh Right!
So now comes the big question; what is the point of the Studiolive 32 mixer for the Studio?
As it stands to date, they is none.

Comments about Presonus StudioLive 32 Digital Mixer:

1 week in and I'm liking it. Had a bump in the road for a day due to me plugging USB into hub and not direct to computer, now all is well. waiting on firmware later this year for control surface interface and the AVB boxes in thew works. It's ready to handle live gigs with full on board recording and the other goodies will come soon.
