Process channels using your favorite plug-ins and completely automate your entire performance. StudioLive 24.4.2 revolutionizes music production, opening endless creative possibilities.

Experience the ease of analog with the power of digital.
When PreSonus designed StudioLive 24.4.2, one of their primary goals was to provide a familiar interface that would keep all critical controls visible and accessible”not buried inside multiple menus.

Sit down at a PreSonus StudioLive 24.4.2, and you see real hardware Mute and Solo buttons, trim controls, and clearly labeled, individual knobs for parametric EQ and dynamics processing. The master section”complete with Talkback, Monitor, Cue, and a choice of headphone sources”looks just like the master section on an analog board but with far more power and flexibility. Aux sends have their own controls. Every channel has a big, bright meter display. Basically, if you've ever used an analog mixer, you'll be right at home with a StudioLive 24.4.2, and even if you've never used a mixer before, you'll quickly be able to create quality mixes and recordings.

The StudioLive 24.4.2 mixer is for those of you who want more than 16 channels but want to keep your system compact. It has more than six auxiliary buses, a fully parametric EQ. You could use an enhanced gate with Key Listen and Key Filter features, and a Threshold control on the limiter would be handy. A stereo graphic EQ on the mains is mandatory but you also want graphic EQ on the subgroups and auxes at times”four dual-mono, 31-band graphic EQs would do the job nicely. No problem! You get all of these enhancements and more with the 24-channel, 10-aux, StudioLive 24.4.2.

A gigantic console in a small package thanks to the Fat Channel
If StudioLive were an analog console, it would have 4-foot-long channel strips packed with knobs and buttons or it would require a massive outboard rack of expensive signal processors. That's because each channel has its own studio-grade compressor, limiter, gate, 4-band parametric equalizer, and high-pass filter. In all, PreSonus packed 43 compressors, 43 limiters, 43 gates, 24 high-pass filters, and more, into one remarkable Fat Channel.

Engaged by pressing any Select button, the PreSonus StudioLive 24.4.2's Fat Channel features extensive EQ and dynamics for every input channel, every aux output (including the two internal FX buses), every subgroup output, and the main outputs.

To let you get the most from all of this processing power without descending into menu purgatory, StudioLive 24.4.2's engineers designed the Fat Channel with clearly labeled physical knobs; an ingenious, multifunction, 16-ladder LED display; an in-your-face Selected Channel display; and even a separate horizontal pan display. It's easy to instantly access any function and get clear, visible feedback.

Not Your Run-of-the-Mill Effects
With StudioLive 24.4.2 you get 2 programmable, 32-bit, stereo DSP effects engines, loaded with 50 reverbs, delays, and time-based effects that you can really use. The reverbs are so rich and detailed that you feel like you're there. Delays are precise. Slap echo sounds like old-school tape effects. All 50 effects have easy-to-use parameter adjustment, tap tempo, store, recall, and Scene selection for ultimate creative flexibility.

The StudioLive 24.4.2's 4 dual, 31-band graphic equalizers can be applied to the main, subgroup, and aux outputs so you can compensate for room acoustics, speaker response, and much more.

All of these features add up to a lot of settings to remember and reset at every performance. That's where the power of digital comes in: StudioLive lets you save all of your digital settings for quick setup and recall. Save Scenes that include every setting on the mixer or save just the Fat Channel settings. Copy-and-paste settings across multiple channels. Save individual DSP effects for ultimate ease, speed, and control. This means that for fixed applications like clubs, churches, and auditoriums, you can always count on the same sound and can fine-tune Scenes for different songs”calling them up instantly. Even rank amateur volunteers can successfully operate the StudioLive 24.4.2.

PreSonus has included a whole library of individual channel settings as starting points for optimizing the sound of instruments, vocals, and spoken word. An AutoStore feature regularly saves your current settings in case the power fails.

Recording made easy
If you have a computer with 6-pin FireWire, you have a 26-track digital recorder instantly ready to capture your gig, church service, or presentation. Just two mouse clicks engages Capture recording software. Studio One Artist digital audio workstation lets you edit and enhance to your heart's content.

StudioLive 24.4.2 features a tightly integrated FireWire interface that delivers up to 32 channels of recording and up to 26 channels of simultaneous playback. Each FireWire recording channel can be set to record either pre- or post-Fat Channel signal processing, delivering total flexibility and power.

Because StudioLive 24.4.2 can so easily return FireWire playback channels from your computer, you can pull off nifty tricks. You can soundcheck your band and fine-tune the PA in a new venue, even when the band's not there yet. Or create backing tracks at your studio and seamlessly blend them with live performances.

Inside, it's pure PreSonus
Ease of use and powerful features only count if the sound quality is equally impressive. After all, it really comes down to how good those microphone preamps are, how clean the signal path is, and how well the algorithms perform. PreSonus is a company already famous for its analog mic preamps, pristine digital interfaces, and well-regarded signal processors, and the StudioLIve 24.4.2 is sure to keep with this trend.

Its XMAX Class A preamplifiers deliver more headroom, deeper lows, smoother highs, and a richer overall sound than the preamps found in other mixers. Ultra-high-headroom, 32-bit floating-point processing is used for all digital mixing. All analog inputs and outputs use the highest quality digital converters available. Synchronization to your computer is stable and robust, thanks to JetPLL synchronization technology, resulting in great stereo separation and clear, transparent audio.

StudioLive expands with your input needs
Need more than 24 channels for mixing live shows and don't need to record? Daisy-chain two StudioLive 24.4.2s via their FireWire ports to get up to 48 input channels and 8 submix buses. If you need more than 24 channels for recording, and you don't need a full channel strip for the additional inputs, you can daisy-chain a StudioLive 24.4.2 with a PreSonus FireStudio Project, FireStudio Tube, or FireStudio Mobile interface. It could not be simpler.

VSL Control Software
The optional PreSonus Virtual StudioLive software for Mac and Windows, which is offered as a free download, provides bidirectional control of the StudioLive 24.4.2 digital mixer. Now you can see and control the most-used mixer parameters onscreen, including channel, subgroup, aux send, and main levels, as well as Fat Channel, effects, and graphic EQ settings.

Control the mixer with a mouse or watch VSL update when you adjust the hardware. Drag Fat Channel presets onto all 16 channels in seconds. Mute or solo every channel with a sweep of the mouse. Apply a new Scene to the whole mixer just by dragging it on VSL from a list you see at all times, or collect and trade Scenes with other StudioLive users.

Wirelessly control auxiliary mixes with QMix.
With QMix, you can enjoy wireless remote control of any PreSonus StudioLive mixer's aux sends from up to ten Apple iPhones or iPod touches! Let performers create their monitor mixes from individual iPhones. With the Wheel of Me, you can select multiple œMe channels and control their levels simultaneously. Requires a Mac or PC running PreSonus Virtual StudioLive. Available free from the Apple App Store.

It's more amazing that you can imagine

    By Michael Coar

    from McLean, VA

Comments about PreSonus StudioLive 24.4.2 Digital Mixer:

PreSonus really knocks it out of the park. The Fat channel gives you Hi-Pass Filter, Full Compressor, Gate, Limiter and 4 band semi-parametrics on virtually everything, channels, sends, subs and mains. AND, the way they have their Firewire set up, you can use your PC for outboard processing. So you can add everything your PC can throw at it. Amazing.

    PreSonus Does it again!!

    By Joseph Park

    from AZ

Comments about PreSonus StudioLive 24.4.2 Digital Mixer:

I come to love this company more and more with its ease of use products and great sounding equipment. They won me over with the FireStudio and now they've buttered me up with the StudioLive. I got rid of my old control board from Tascam just so I could get one of these! I cannot get over the precision and beauty of the StudioLive! I use the mapping that PreSonus provided for Apple's Logic and it works wonderfully.

Great sounding, but has a few bugs and limitaions

    By Jeff

    from Gilbert AZ.

Comments about PreSonus StudioLive 24.4.2 Digital Mixer:

This is a great sounding console, clean but not sterile sounding. The processing power is great. Compression, gating and eq on all the channels including the buses. Very easy to learn and get around on. Wish it had a way for routing the reverb to the monitors. Mutes on the aux masters would be nice to cut reverbs between songs. Also the current firmware (v1.0 build 166) has at least one bug that I have found. Build 165 had a couple. Tech support is slow to respond.

    A Must Buy

    By Big Daddy

    from Rockwood TN

Comments about PreSonus StudioLive 24.4.2 Digital Mixer:

This a great product for the money. Although it does not have automatic faders, I would highly recommend because of the fader recall feature. Pre-fader recording is awesome! Love the fat channel. Does have limited effects processing. However, really works great in the live venue setting. And comes with a load of software. Overall, it's well worth it. Great Job Presonus!

    First Digital Board

    By Scott McCourt

    from Prairie Grove, AR

Comments about PreSonus StudioLive 24.4.2 Digital Mixer:

Wow this board is great! Our Church got struck by lightening - it got the usual stuff: phones, air conditioner, TV. It also got into our sound equipment. Killing our 24ch EV mixer, 3 condenser mics, computer UPS. We decided to upgrade to the PreSonus StudioLive 24.4.2 for a few reasons. First, the settings recall. ۡ In a church it is very possible that someone could/will play with the settings. Second, the individual channel outputs for recording, very nice. Third, the all-in-one simplicity. Fourth, the size, it is deeper than our old mixer but about half the width. Once it is setup, it is as simple to operate as an analog mixer. It looks intimidating, all the buttons, but it is very straight forward to use. Add bonus: it is quite pretty when it is powered on. I would highly recommend this mixer.

Great Board - Almost All In One

    By Johnboy

    from Sacramento, CA

Comments about PreSonus StudioLive 24.4.2 Digital Mixer:

Got this board to eliminate outboard gear and have all the onboard compression, geqs etc. Oh yea 24 ch recording! Easy to use and built well. Plan on buying a $450 L and M case to protect this puppy. I have already tweaked and recorded with this thing in less than 4 hours. I just need a crossover and feedback destroyers now! Effects on board sound good too although limited to reverbs and delays.

Comments about PreSonus StudioLive 24.4.2 Digital Mixer:

I sold a Crest Audio 40 channel board and was stuggling with decision to buy this board or another brand. After much online research and talking to fellow sound guys, I decided to go for the PreSonus StudioLive 24 for my church. That the best sound decision I ever made! This thing is amazing. It's easy to setup, after you read the manual, and takes about an hour dial-in. The built-in effects and compressor/gates makes it possible for a novice to sound very good. It's only about 25" wide so it saves on a gang load of real estate in the sound area that we can use for other things. Being able to save mixes (scenes) for different users or bands is the primary reason for purchasing this amazing board. So, fellow church sound people, this is the one you should get if at all possible!! Great board!!

This will be the main go-to for most small to medium churches over the next few years.

    By Joshua Brown

    from Redlands, CA

Comments about PreSonus StudioLive 24.4.2 Digital Mixer:

Decision: As the Technical Director and Lead Audio Engineer for Oasis Church, the decision to purchase this board came after months of research. Initially we were planning to purchase a Yamaha IM8-40, to replace our aging (it was older than me, lol) Yamaha analogue mixer. After much searching and after reading many positive reviews, I finally came into the San Bernardino GC and tested the 16 channel StudioLive with a demo capture session. The result, I was blown away. Not only could we save several thousand dollars on a major upgrade, but the improvement in quality afforded by crucial live features like a variable High-pass filter, gating with key listen, transparent compression, a phenomenal parametric EQ and flexible routing, would have taken months of planning to purchase head-to-toe rack equipment, to do this on 24 channels. Also this isn't buried in levels of menus like other $40,000 mixing consoles I've been hired to use, just hit select on the channel you want to tweak and it's laid out across the board with highly visible LEDs. Installation: Installation began on a Tuesday and ended that Thursday. Which included 4 monitor sends, L R and Sub sends to the amp room, 8 wireless microphones (6 handheld, and 2 headsets), and re-building the doghouse with the driverack, 8 wireless receivers, and the brand new Furman to protect our new investment. The availability of the 31-band graphic EQ's drastically reduced the amount of rack equipment we needed by quite a bit and allowed us to make RTA presets, in Universal Control, for all the individual types of monitors we use. After a new dynamics setup, and re-adjusting the gain structure in the driverack, we were ready for Thursday-night worship practice. First-Time: The following Sunday saw a drastic improvement in sound quality over the aging console we had previously used, although sadly I could not attend due to a wedding in the immediate family. It was a testament to how easily our other engineer with little training could use the board effectively. The ability to store not only FAT Channel presets for individual channels but also sub groups and monitor sends, is amazing. The scene recall is what you would expect it to be and fader locate is worth saving $20,000 on motorized faders, especially for house of worship applications. The remote control feature with iPads and iPods is seamless and appreciated by our band members for the ability to mix their own monitors. I setup a separate router for this purpose and plug the ethernet cable into my laptop. Now: Two months later and I'm finally getting the three layers of compression finely tuned. I start with compression for the individual channels, then route them through the sub groups (drums, vocals, guitars, keys) which I can also compress since they have their OWN fat channels, and finally (with just enough compressor gain on the sub-groups) a bit of glue on the main channel. The band sounds tight, vocals sit where they need to in the mix, and the drums explode in a precision demolition fashion. This has allowed me to make the entire soundscape fatter and louder without actually raising dB levels and keeping the listening experience enjoyable for the congregation. Just remember to approach the EQ (in the digital realm), as taking away what you don't want instead of adding what you need, and popping a few things here and there, to make stand out what you need to. You'll get a cleaner mix that way. Can I haz broadcast? The routing this board provides and S/PDIF out makes it an ideal choice for mobile broadcast as well. Since you have full control over a completely digital gain structure, theres no need to worry about clipping with the mains limiter at your disposal. So yeah: All-in-all, the best investment we've made so far. The multi-track ability has prompted us to begin recording worship covers and original pieces. All my thanks to Don Leiffer at San Bernardino GC for being the go-to, pro-sound guy, and helping us setup a cross store purchase when they didn't have it in stock at the time.

    Great all-in-one package

    from Menomonee Falls, WI

Comments about PreSonus StudioLive 24.4.2 Digital Mixer:

I needed a second board after my Peavey 16FX started to cut in and out through the mains. Rather than purchase a spare for the Peavey, I decided to buy the StudioLive 24.4.2 and use the Peavey as the spare. The StudioLive is incredible and eliminates the need for most outboard processors and separate monitor mixer. For the reviewer who said he wished there was a way to send reverb to monitors, there is - just press the Aux Mix button twice and you can add Aux in A & B, and FX A & B along with Firewire bus and Tape In (far left Fat Channel knobs)to that monitor's mix. You see, this board does everything!

The best value for the money, as close to analog as it could be

    By Arkadi

    from San Francisco, CA

Comments about PreSonus StudioLive 24.4.2 Digital Mixer:

This desk is literally a hidden treasure: full functional replacement of a mid-size analog mixer (like Mackie 32.4) with all the extras we've been dreaming about for years: Dynamics and full parametric EQ on each input and output, excellent preamps, FireWire assignable per channel (super cool for performances with backing tracks, you can play selected tracks from your DAW, add live feeds from stage and mix it all as full 24-channel band mix!). And desk is super-quiet with insane dynamic range! After having it for a few months I had a chance to mix on Soundcraft Spirit, and I was naturally shocked: how noisy the later was! It's the best desk for analog purists and those transitioning from analog to digital mixing. Well compliments our inventory (Yamaha, MIDAS, X32) and indispensable for small gigs.
