A very portable, flexible, and affordable interface with stunning sound quality!

The PreSonus Inspire 1394 FireWire Audio Interface is a FireWire recording system featuring professional quality 24-bit/96kHz A/D/A conversion for extremely clear, dynamic sound.

The Inspire 1394 gives you four simultaneous inputs. These include two XLR jacks with custom PreSonus preamps and switchable phantom power. The mic and instrument preamps are designed for ultra-low noise, high gain, preamplification of all types of microphones and instruments.

Two Hi-Z 1/4" instrument inputs and two selectable line/phono jacks on the back panel have a switchable RIAA filter, making them perfect for DJs and vinyl owners converting LPs to digital.

Outputs include RCA unbalanced and mini TRS jacks plus a headphone jack.

Up to four Inspire 1394s can be daisy-chained for up to 16 simultaneous inputs.

A software control panel gives you control over all vital parameters including: input gain, phantom power, limiter (off/on), preamp boost (off/on), sample rate, headphone volume, main output volume, and zero-latency input mixing with playback mixing. The software control panel also serves as a mixer between you and your computer playback and your inputs for zero latency recording.

Cubase LE recording and production software is included with the INSPIRE 1394, featuring 48 audio tracks, 96 MIDI tracks, VST plug-ins, and full VSTi support. Cubase LE is upgradeable to Cubase SX or Nuendo, Steinberg's premier audio production software.

The PreSonus INSPIRE 1394 works seamlessly with all virtually all popular recording software including Cubase, Nuendo, Sonar, Cakewalk, Logic, Logic Express, Digital Performer, and many others.

Solo artists dream

This little piece of hardware is perfect for a solo artist. The two phantom powered xlr inputs are great for doing vocals or for micing an amp or whatever else. The extra two RCA inputs on the back of the box are great when you need to get a few more mics hooked up to it. I would suggest for bands to pick up two of these and you'll be set as far as recording goes. The software packaged with it is awesome also. This is a great buy.

Excellent starting interface

I bought this device along with some microphones so I could begin to record my acoustic guitar. It works great! I love the fact that all the knobs and buttons are digital on the screen and very easy to use. It also works great for plugging a guitar or bass or keyboard directly into it... there is no signal loss at all. Another thing that I really like about it is that it is able to expand, and you can attatch more of these together. This will come in handy if I ever want more inputs and dont want to buy an expensive interface, I can just buy another one of these. Great product, well worth the money!

Great for home studios

The Inspire is great for anyone starting a computer based home studio. The Inspire interface is easy to use and it can also supply phantom power to your condenser microphones. Another great feature is that you can link a few of these things together, making it easy to mic an entire band at the same time. The software it comes with is a great compliment to the product. The direct line in works great, I use it for all of my bass recording. If your looking for an inexpensive way to start a computer based recording setup, start with an inspire, you won't be dissapointed.

Quality Audio Interface

The Presonus Inspire system is well built, easy to use and great sounding firewire audio interface. The software interface works well, the limiter works well on stereo room recordings, and sound nice on direct bass. I have run it off bus power with no problems, although the wall wart is handy as a backup. The only drawback is true of every USB / Firewire interface I have tried. You can't move the cable while recording with noise. The noise doesn't seem to record, but it can be distracting. I advise you set up in a stable area and don't move the unit while recording. Very portable, very musical. Good software.
