  • Amazing sound

As reviewed by Paul of Alation on 11/22/2010

I'd give this thing 5 stars if it was easier to install and use. Before buying this make sure you check on their page of compatible hardware. Mainly for PC I found that the firewire card you have is the most important. The texas intsrument SIIG worked as they said it would. Prior to buying that card i had another one and the firestudio would talk to my PC but you could not get the sound to come out or record sound. Also if you have windows XP service pack 3, get rid of it and go back to service pack 2. You can not install certain program drivers with this service pack installed. Once you get everything right and working you'll love this little box. I've also bought the digimax FS with this and it worked wonders while using it on my PC. I didnt get any sound drops or pops or anything unnatural like you might read in other reviews elsewhere. I have a pentium dual core 2.0 with 3 gig ram and there was no issues of using the Cubase LE 4 and recording 12 channels straight to the PC.

  • Best Bang For The Buck! PERIOD!!!

As reviewed by ~jR on 9/5/2011

OK.. so I don't have the new FIRESTUDIO.. But I have the older version aka~ FIREPOD. I have used it faithfully for the last 4 years., I recorded our first CD with it CREEP-"Struggle Within" and never had a problem until I bought a laptop that didn't come with firewire which I bought a DYNEX expansion card from Best Buy and guess what? Still works great. It has 8 channels which for a 5 piece band can be a challenge., however you can chain multiple devices together if need be. Say for a life recording if you want to single out every tom and cymbal. Personally.. I just used 7 channels for drums, [two overhead condensers, and the others 5 for kicks and toms and one for guitar scratch track., recorded one take with click track,. and then let drummer play to that recording with all 8 channels. I love these products and would recommend to anyone wanting an affordable interface with excellent digital audio converters. It is really as easy as plug it in and start recording so what are you waiting for? I looked long and hard at interfaces for years and it wasn't until Presonus made these awesome products available at a price I could afford did I get my home studio up to standard. Don't let a bad review from someone who doesn't know how to plug it in stop you.

  • Don't waste your time or money on this product

As reviewed by enzo on 8/29/2011

The PreSonus Fire Studio is the biggest piece of junk I've ever purchased. It cuts in an out randomly from working to no sound at all, or fuzzes out in the middle of recording. It is simply unreliable, unpredictable, and a massive headache to have to put up with. And I'm not the only one that has experienced this. There are many examples all over various forums. I wish I had researched this product more thoroughly before I wasted $500 on it. Based on my experience with this product, I will never purchase another PreSonus product.
