Product Information

Gives you professional I/O options, integrated mixing, and Class A preamps.

The FireStudio from PreSonus is a 26-in/26 out FireWire recording interface loaded with 8 of PreSonus' acclaimed mic preamps. It has MIDI, S/PDIF, word clock, and ADAT (dual SMUX) I/O plus a 36x18 DSP matrix routing mixer. Firestudio also gives you up to 26 simultaneous inputs and outputs. Combined with the speaker volume and mix control of the optional Monitor Station Remote (MSR), it gives your studio advanced digital capabilities.

You can easily think of the FireStudio as the big brother to the award-winning FirePod with more I/O, and adding the MSR (Monitor Station Remote) really upgrades your setup. The MSR is a complete surround-capable desktop remote control that gives you the ability to switch between Track, Mix, and Surround modes, as well as a talkback, dim, mute, mono, and dual headphone amplifiers. Track Mode delivers nine stereo mixes for monitoring in headphones during tracking, Mix Mode allows the user to switch between three sets of stereo monitors, and Surround Mode enables 5.1 surround control for mixing in surround sound. See the Recommended Accessories box below to add the MSR to your FireStudio order.

FireStudio includes Cubase LE, and the PreSonus ProPak — over 2GB of plug-ins, drum loops, and samples.

Note:As of 5/26/09, you can make your FireStudio 64-bit compatible via a PreSonus web update.

With our Guaranteed Lowest Price, you can be assured of complete satisfaction and the lowest available price, or your money back!

NEW REVIEW - Great Product

I bought the Firestudio after a lot of research and I have not been disappointed. The only thing that can cause headaches is trying to get it to play well with your chipset. If I had to suggest a change in the product I would like to be able to turn on phantom power for less than four channels at a time. As far as sound goes, it is pristine. I love how easy it is to get good sound out of this interface. It's a great place to start for anyone who wants to get into semi-pro recording.

Great interface - I LOVE IT

I've tried all of them - Digidesign, MAudio, Mackie, etc. and this one has the best sounding preamps of them all. Really great on drums. Also, I love the DSP mixer. What a step up from the Firepod (which I also owned). My only complaint is that Cubase LE only lets you record 8 tracks at a time. So I switched to Cubase4. But all in all, this is the best interface I've heard.

More bang for the buck!

I got this box in may of this year and have been using it alot. I have a MacBook and Logic Pro. Just made the upgrade to LP8 and Love it! Mic pre's are great! Lots of people are saying there better than anything out there. There is latency with all firewire interfaces, just because they say its zero latency does not mean that it is true in all scenerios. I have found that the delay is better at 88.2k than 44.1, in fact it is about as good as it could be I imagine. Make sure you are recording all your projects in 88.2 to avoid the slap back on your record monitor. I imagine that the firewire interfaces with 176.4 would have even less delay, however I would probobly have to have a faster computer than my tiny MacBook. So for a firewire interface this one has all the features that make the price worth it! Thumbs up for FireStudio!

Don't Buy This Interface!!!

You better hope you don't have a problem! Presonus releases driver/software updates that are full of compatability problems and then provides the worst customer support I have ever experienced. When it works, it works well but if you have a problem, you're on your own. I replaced my Firestudio which now sits on a closet shelf.

Very Poor Overall

I am *totally unimpressed* with PreSonus and its products. The software is lazy at best. One of the units I bought was faulty out of the box. Their tech support is an absolute joke (their best answer is "reinstall the software"); they have no technical skills and sound like college students to me. Performance is no better than the Line6 equipment I was upgrading from, and the software is nowhere near as good. I made a big mistake buying this product, thinking I'd save a few bucks. I'd spend a little more and get MOTU or some other professional-level gear. Or go the budget route and buy Line6. Don't waste your money here.
