NEW REVIEW - nice addition

Picked this up to speed up my editing. Running Logic pro 8. Saves alot of time and I'm not grabbing the mouse so much now. It sits right next to my keyboard to the right and my mouse is down on the far right. i should mention, first thing get the drver & firmware update from presonus.com so Logic will populate it in the softwares "control surfaces" list automatically. Fader works great ! mix button is really handy as well as the zoom button. The loop button is a nice feature too. Logic users will appreciate that one for sure. track switching is a little slow and I still find myself grabbing the mouse to quick select because it is faster. Overall I would recomend one. Very nice unit and made well !

Easy and useful

I have logic studio and pro tools and it works great with both. it is fairly easy to set up and use, not to mention it looks great. this control surface definitely puts a human aspect back into fades.

Good, but didn't work with Cubase Studio 4

I had really high hopes for this product. I am using a Macintosh computer with Cubase Studio 4 and a Presonus Firestudio Project. I wanted something to supplement my mousework for mixing and mastering. It was the choice between this and the Alphatrack. I wanted this because that way I could have all Presonus products. But what do you know, the thing didn't work! Apparently Presonus didn't see it fit to make a driver for my particular computer/software configuration. So I ended up with the Alphatrack. Honestly, this product has a better build quality and is a lot easier to use, but ultimately the compatibility issue was a dealbreaker. Also, the Alphatrack is powered by USB, whereas the fader on this unit is powered by an adapter.

Easy to use if your using the right software.

This is a great product....if you use the right software. After being available for over a year it still only works with a couple different DAWs. It worked for me in Sonar after installing the sonar patch from the presonus website. Recently I decided to switch to Ableton live and the faderport does not support Live. I've also seen Sonar crash on me a few times when using the faderport. After this happened sonar would not detect the faderport again untill i rebooted. I also think the buttons on the port are a little hard to press down. The powered fader is awesome though.

Just what I needed

I just recently started my own home studio and I've got to say that the FaderPort is a perfect fit for my needs. I'm running a Presonus Firestudio with Cubase LE4 and it was as easy as plugging in the interface, dropping the driver in the correct file location, selecting it as a control device and I was good to go. The transport function alone is worth the money to not have to search on the screen with my mouse for a rollback button, let alone the motorized fader. So far the only drawback to it is that there are a few bugs with the drivers that, on my machine, caused the fader to drop to unity and stay there but it's a known issue and if you cruise the Presonus forums for the solution you'll be good to go. It's the only reason I can't give a 5 star rating because this happened to me happened in the middle of a session with a very important client. Other than that, it's been a really handy both in recording and mixdown and I'd recommend the FaderPort to anyone.
