I have owned this snare for about three years now, I absolutely love it. It can be tuned in a eide variety and can actually be tuned versital enough to sound like any sanre type, high pitch ringy, High pitched tight and quick, Deep and powerful like AC/DC. In my opinion its a nice versitile addition to any set, especially at the affordable price for a nice black maple.

Tones are great at first even with the stock Remo head, but it doesn't stay in tune. I played a few hours on it and had to re-tune it. Same thing happened at church but we didn't have time to re-do eq so I had to leave it. During a Saturday night service a tension rod fell out of a bottom lug after a few hours of playing. Also, the snare wires are sub par. I've adjusted the snare several times and the tension is never even across the strands so it buzzes a good bit. I like my batter head really tight and my snare side head a bit looser than the batter; granted I tried many different things with this snare. I wish I could return it. I'd recomend a DW Performance series snare.

Stop Reading And Buy It!!!

By xDetroitMetalx

from Detroit

Comments about Pork Pie Little Squealer Maple Snare Drum:

I've been looking for a cheap Maple snare for a long time. I had a cheap Pacific snare that always reminded me of the Metallica St. Anger album with it's annoying ping. I was looking for a piccolo sound to define my blast beats and I just couldn't find one in my price range. I was finally introduced to this on the sales floor! I didn't buy it at first but a few days later I convinced my self to come back and fork out the dough to bring it home. I am so happy that I did! This drum is worth the money and really easy to tune. Don't let the size fool you, it is loud! The Remo skins that come with it fit the drum well so I'm not planning to buy any new skins until these ones wear out. I havn't found a dead spot since the few two weeks that I've had it and it has excellent bounce. The black lugs and rings place a nice contrast or accent for any drum set. If you look real close you can see the nice wood finish but from afar it just looks black! For a drum this cheap that looks really cool and just sounds great why wouldn't you get it?

This Pig Is Just Awsome!

By Britha David Cervantes

from Houston, TeXas

Comments about Pork Pie Little Squealer Maple Snare Drum:

This Is my first maple snare drum, I bought it and I got to tell you that even with the stock head It sounded cool just tightened up. But then I had a spare 12 inch Aquarian studio X texure coated on it and I tuned it up tight and It blew me away. Sounds incredeable recorded, but the only complaint I have is that try not to do rim shots hitting a lug because it will untune, other than that it also sounds phenominal Live and miked.

Comments about Pork Pie Little Squealer Maple Snare Drum:

I have to say that this is by far one of the best snares on the market! I ordered it and got in one day and played it. The sound is awesome...nice and warm feel, but has that pop!! The head that came with it is totally awesome. For those who are looking for a good snare...this is it for you! I also have a metal firecracker...but it cannot compare to this snare!! No dislikes on this end!!! Please get this!!!!

Little Squealer, Big Sound!

By Gerrod "spacejam" Stephens

from Dallas, Texas

Comments about Pork Pie Little Squealer Maple Snare Drum:

I have been using this drum for a hot minute and I will be the first to tell you it has a huge sound for the size. I use in my church which is considered a mega church and when people who don't play drums tell me that they enjoy the sound of my snare, that is saying alot. I will be purchasing more Pork Pie snares drums in the future and suggest anyone wanting a big sound and a small price with high quality check these baby's out!!!!!!

Best Snare Out There

By Zach

from Springfield, OH

Comments about Pork Pie Little Squealer Maple Snare Drum:

I just recently bought this snare because I had heard from evryone that it was one of the best snare. I love how it sounds with my Ludwig. If you do buy it you should get some Moon Gel pads in case you dont like the overtones. If you play metal this is the perfect snare for you.

Great Snare Drum

By stillwarm

from Oro Valley,AZ

Comments about Pork Pie Little Squealer Maple Snare Drum:

I got this to use it along side my traditional size snare, but it sounds so good and looks amazing so I use it now as my main snare. It has a sort of black transparent/washed satin finish with black hardware. The hardware doesn't seem to be powdercoated, I nicked it during a show and it now shows the metal beneath the finish, but it isn't anything that can't be touched up. Overall I love the sound of this snare. It has a nice ring to it, and it records nicely. It has the best crack I've heard in a long time, and has a great tight but warm tone. I replaced the batter head with a remo black suede head and it now has just the right amount of ring, no need for a dampening ring (except when I record.) I would definitely buy another one if something happened to this one. Right size, right price, perfect color. Get one, you will not regret the purchase.

Definately not for the timid drummers of the world

By Mattgraham189

from Chattanooga, TN

Comments about Pork Pie Little Squealer Maple Snare Drum:

This snare is amazing! I bought it as an auxilary snare but now use it as my primary. It has a very aggressive attack with a great depth to it. An extremely durable drum, it is built to take some abuse. For this snare, you get far more than what you pay for.

Awesome Snare

By Ryan

from Oklahoma City, OK

Comments about Pork Pie Little Squealer Maple Snare Drum:

This snare rocks. I've had it for about 2 years and I haven't found many snares that come close to the sound of this little gem. In my opinion, it rivals that uber expensive OCDP 15-20 ply snares in sound, but for a lot less money. I love the way Chad Sexton of 311's snare sounds, and with the right tuning, this snare will sound almost identical. It's got great attack, and punch, and DO NOT BE FOOLED ITS SIZE, this snare is LOUD! Ghost notes sound great, very responsive for open doubles, Moller Technique, pretty much anything involving stick bounce. For the money you won't find a better snare, I promise.

Blamo!

By James Berube

from Watertown, MA

Comments about Pork Pie Little Squealer Maple Snare Drum:

After dealing with a fairly subpar performance from the pdp snare that I've had for years, it was time to get one that really pops. What sums up this Pork Pie is simply amazing. I was looking for something that really had that high end pop, and it delivers in spades. It sounds like firecrackers in a bucket, and the rebound is just incredible. You'll play even faster than you've imagined with this puppy. The hardware is top notch and looks are second to none. The black on satin ebony definitely ward off the pretenders. If you're looking for a small snare that sounds huge, come on down to the rodeo.

    Pork Pie does it again!

    By Lateralus313

    from High Ridge, MO

Comments about Pork Pie Little Squealer Maple Snare Drum:

Pork Pie has a knack for creating these awesome snare drums. I bought this on sale, and let me tell you, this thing may be small but it packs a whole lot of punch. I was suprised how little it is compared to regular snare drums. It has a little higher pitch than others too! It sounds awesome. Great buy.

Comments about Pork Pie Little Squealer Maple Snare Drum:

They dont call this snare "little squealer" for nothing. This snare has the sound of a fire cracker snare with the size of a small snare. The black maple has an awesome look and has an even better crack sound. I would recommend this snare for any drummer.

Comments about Pork Pie Little Squealer Maple Snare Drum:

Bought this snare about two or three years ago, and it is amazing. It has the sound any rock or progressive player wants. I compared this with the Joey Jordison signature snare, and actually liked this one better. And i have to say that this is a great buy for anyone who is in need of a good snare.
