I have owned this snare for about three years now, I absolutely love it. It can be tuned in a eide variety and can actually be tuned versital enough to sound like any sanre type, high pitch ringy, High pitched tight and quick, Deep and powerful like AC/DC. In my opinion its a nice versitile addition to any set, especially at the affordable price for a nice black maple.

Tones are great at first even with the stock Remo head, but it doesn't stay in tune. I played a few hours on it and had to re-tune it. Same thing happened at church but we didn't have time to re-do eq so I had to leave it. During a Saturday night service a tension rod fell out of a bottom lug after a few hours of playing. Also, the snare wires are sub par. I've adjusted the snare several times and the tension is never even across the strands so it buzzes a good bit. I like my batter head really tight and my snare side head a bit looser than the batter; granted I tried many different things with this snare. I wish I could return it. I'd recomend a DW Performance series snare.

Great little drum that cuts thru !!

By Jesse Wininger

from Evansville, In.

I was in our local G.C. today checking out the snare drums like I usually do. One hit on this puppy sold me right away. It has one heck of a crack & rims shots that are awesome. They had several used snares and this one happened to be used, but not abused..buy it, you will be amazed.

great snare

By nate merrill

from Baltimore MD

i bought this snare used, because it was half price, and I'll tell you what, it sounds great. this snare has more crack than any other snare I've ever played. My only complaint is that it isn't as resonant as I would like, but most people I know muffle their snares to kill resonation. All of the hardware is very sturdy, and the stock head even sounds good. This snare is one of the best parts about my set, and I would recomend it to anyone trying to buy a new/used snare.

Poppin'

By Alexis Klosinski

from Elkhart, IN

I had always heard great things about Pork Pie and I was not disappointed. When it came time for me to buy a snare, I did meticulous research before going in and banging on a couple of them. I had my mind pretty much made up and once I hit it, there was no going back! I wanted a nice pop; something that would lend itself to great grooving. This drum is so tight sounding, it's actually made me a better player. The smaller size makes it easy to tune. The stock head has a nice, thick batter. For an 8-ply maple, the price is extremely reasonable. And it's seriously a sexy looking drum. It will compliment any kit sonically and aesthetically. I love this drum, and I'd recommend it to any player. Those guys at Pork Pie know what they're doing!

The Porkie can Squeal

By Taylor

from California

I received a Chris Adler snare last year for Christmas. I totally love that snare. But I was looking recently for a fuller sound, which actually to me sounds a lot like the Adler just deeper. The shell being made of maple. You can tune it higher if you choose too as well. It's light weight. About the only thing I wish it came with like the Adler snare is a nice custom made case. You can get a Roadrunner for it which fits close but again not a custom. Otherwise, this is a great snare thanks to my generous parents keeping my twin brother (he's a bass player) and I set up with great equipment to gig with.

Blamo!

By James Berube

from Watertown, MA

After dealing with a fairly subpar performance from the pdp snare that I've had for years, it was time to get one that really pops. What sums up this Pork Pie is simply amazing. I was looking for something that really had that high end pop, and it delivers in spades. It sounds like firecrackers in a bucket, and the rebound is just incredible. You'll play even faster than you've imagined with this puppy. The hardware is top notch and looks are second to none. The black on satin ebony definitely ward off the pretenders. If you're looking for a small snare that sounds huge, come on down to the rodeo.

Any second thoughts? Are you crazy?

By John

from Danvers, MA

This is the finest sounding snare drum I've ever owned. Ever. The tuning is so versatile; you can make this drum sound however you'd like it. This drum has an extremely warm sound, and has this amazing natural 'CRACK!' to its sound. I'd highly recommend this drum to anybody of any style! You'd crazy not to buy this. What a price!

Awesome pop

By Sam M.

from Oneonta, AL

Very nice snare. I got it recently and it still has the stock head on it and sounds decent. The heads are made by Remo and are not bad. I play music which include guitars that cut through the track. It's hard to find snares that can be heard over the chaos, but this does the trick. 5/5, don't let the price fool you.
