  This is a great set the hard wear on it is an awesome color and hold up pretty well. Except the snare needs to be tuned every once in a while just along as you don't beat the crap out it. The toms sound amazing same with the snare(i got a smaller snare only 5 inches deep and about 11 or 12 inches wide, its great for accents with the tone.) The set has never had any problems for me at all great durable set. The set looks super good if you are playing with only a little light due to the black hard wear and this set with zidjian A series and A custom cymbals are the best.

• Great for piddling about at home, but not for production use.

  I bought the lil squealer kit as an up grade from two separate pacific DW cx maples kits, neither of which were bad kits to begin with. As reported by others, these drums WILL *NOT* remain in tune. I have to re-tune the snare after two songs to avoid losing the lugs (I actually had a bottom side tuning lug drop on my foot while playing recently). Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to return this kit within GC' 30 day policy, simply because I hadn't actually gotten around to using it for band practice yet, which is where I discovered this behavior. I tried to correct this with the recommended (and extremely tack) lug locks, to no avail. I've also tried more controlled and gentle hits, which seemed to mitigate the problem at first, but not resolve it. I strongly recommend *NOT* purchasing any of the little squealer series, as you will inevitably run into these same headaches. I'm also amazed that Pork Pie would continue producing and selling kits with these know defects. Lug logs are *NOT* the answer to the problem. The problem is the quality assurance for pork pie. My lower end pacific-dw kits have very versatile tuning ranges, and manage to remain in or as close to in tune as possible with my heavy hitting.

• Do You Smell Bacon?

  I received my Little Squealer from GuitarCenter.com on 1/14/2010 and I couldn't be more happy. Everything came in two boxes and was pre-assembled except for the bass drum. The black rims and lugs look sweet with the white heads and gold Pork Pie shields on the shells. The floor tom has memory locks on the legs that are a great idea. The kit comes with a clamp for mounting the small tom on the cymbal stand. However, the tom's mounting hardware can be removed altogether, if you play Bonham style with a snare drum stand like me. Now, if DW or somebody would start offering black cymbal/snare drum hardware, you could really make your own custom set!
