  • Awesome Snare!!!

As reviewed by david on 10/20/2009

I traded in a marching snare and pork pie acrylic for the curly maple and i am glad i did! It has a much wider tuning range than the pork pie acrylic and has better sounding tone so i can use it in any style of playing... not to mention the stunning look of the grains of wood! definitly worth the money!

  • Boutique Gone Cheap

As reviewed by Desmond on 3/11/2010

I first heard this drum on a youtube video of Chris Coleman. Loved the sound and heck if chris coleman liked it enough to use it, it must be a treat to play. So I bought the drum and it sounded great right out of the store. Within a few weeks the tension rods began to rust.(Nothing else on my gretsch renown kit had any signs of rust nor did any of my hardware) I continuously had issues keeping the tension rods under my backbeat tight. It became so bad that after playing for 5 minutes or less the rod became completely loose. A few months later, after replacing the tension rods, the piece of the lug in which the tension rods are screwed into busted. My final conclusion, Pork Pie has mass produced their boutique name and it no longer comes with quality, atleast not with this drum. For the same price you can get A Pearl Masters MCX or A Gretsch Maple Snare drum! Two options i think are much higher quality. Another Tip: if you decide to get this drum, get the pro warrenty!
