I had been thinking that it would be nice to have a Fretboard to practice finger placement and build callouses on my finger tips as I am a new guitar player. Then I saw this device and ordered it right away. My only negatives is that it came without any instructions, and I thought it would be nice to have a slot to put the tuning Allen Wrench somewhere on the fretboard. Other than that it does everything I was looking for.

In short, a piece of useless junk. I nearly cut my self on the fret ends, no point in trying to tune it, you can't, and even if you could SO WHAT ?
They seem to leave out the part about NOT BEING ABLE TO STRUM THE THING !! In the, "Happy videos" you see someone "playing" it, while others look on, entertained. By what, there's NO SOUND ! Just a piece of plastic with 6 raised lines, that you can pretend to strum>
And most importantly, IF THERE IS NO SOUND, OR WAY TO PLAY THE STRINGS, YOU CANNOT PRACTICE WITH IT !!!!!!! WHAT POSSIBLE GOOD IS FRETTING A STRING, WHEN YOU CAN'T HERE IF YOU'RE DOING IT RIGHT.? YOU COULD BE PLAYING THE CHORD, OR NOTE RUN, WRONG AND NEVER KNOW IT. SO I ASK YOU,....IS THAT PRACTICING, NOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!!
NOT a practice ,....anything ! (
Reviews that claim playability (finger picking ?) are placed by pro. PR firms, putting out false faverable reviews. It would be the sams as a "6" fret guitar, the 3rd fret would in essence be the 12th fret half way, (presumably) between the nut and saddle. and that won't work folks !

Comments about PocketStrings 6 Fret:

Perfect for practicing chord changes and speed of changes. This can be taken almost anywhere, and is affordable. A little flimsy, but let's face it, it's a cheap plastic overseas product. It's not made to perform with at a concert. It's not designed to be tuned, it's designed to assist in building and keeping calluses, learning chords, and practicing chord changes, and doing so quietly. If you want a tunable fretboard, they make a device called a "guitar".

      Comments about PocketStrings 6 Fret:

I am just learning to play guitar & bought the PocketStrings device because I was looking at a couple of weeks of travel, when I wouldn't have my guitar with me. A couple of days in, I appreciate that I can practice my chords and strumming patterns, and maintain my new callouses. The only negatives are that, of course, that there is no sound, and it's not as easy to hold as a guitar.

          Comments about PocketStrings 6 Fret:

This is a great tool for building even calluses on your fingertips. I keep mine at work at use it when I'm reading reports or when I'm at home watching TV.

I see others complaining that they can't tune the strings which is kind of strange. If you want to practice finger placement with sound then just pick up a guitar. I suppose you could use this to learn chords and practice shifts, but I wouldn't recommend it for anything other than working on those calluses when you are away from your guitar.

          Comments about PocketStrings 6 Fret:

The idea is good but that all I can say about this PocketString. Easy to use and transport. But I found useless the distance between frets just wrong. You can practice finger if you boring. So, overall construction is good.

          Unusable

          By S

          from Tampa, FL

          Comments about PocketStrings 6 Fret:

This thing is terrible, in my opinion. I tried tuning it with my snark and it took forever to get all of the strings even close to tuned...you have to use an allen wrench. And then when I put the cover back on, the whole thing went (way) out of tune again. I can't use it. It's cheap and the low E string is dampened all the time by the plastic covering. Going in the garbage.

Now you can practice anytime and any place. Strings could be tighter to simulate pressing on guitar strings.

The idea of something compact, easy to use and transport, and quiet is a great idea. Can use it for scales, chords and leads. You can even practice finger picking if you hold it right. Why Pocketstrings has not fixed the issue with the sharp frets is beyond me. Otherwise the overall construction and materials is good.
