Overview

Combining outstanding performance, styling and comfort, these headphones deliver affordable, professional results. Designed for maximum comfort and durability, the HDJ-500’s ear pads feature supple, high-quality leather wrapped around soft urethane that mold to your head for a perfect fit, sealing out exterior noise during critical mixing and monitoring. The HDJ-500 headphones also deliver solid build quality with their magnesium alloy construction, ensuring they’ll stand up to regular use.

The HDJ-500 headphones’ stylish design is matched by their professional sound quality. They provide clear audio reproduction, especially in the critical low and midrange frequencies that are key for remixing. Unbeatable low-end reproduction is due to the HDJ-500’s huge, 40mm-diameter drivers with a thick 19um (micrometers) diaphragm, and copper-clad, aluminum wire voice coil. Snare and kick drum sounds are clearer, making beatmatching even easier for DJs in loud club environments.

Built for Different DJ Styles
For maximum flexibility during DJ performances, these headphones feature a rotating arm structure that allows you to rotate the right earpiece forward and back by as much as 60 degrees. At that position, the flexible headband maintains enough side pressure to allow you to listen to audio on just one side of the headphones.

Interchangeable Cords
Whether you’re deep in the mix or just kicking back on the couch, Pioneer has you covered with two different, interchangeable cords. The traditional 1.2m coiled cord extends to 3m, giving you the freedom to move around in the DJ booth. Meanwhile the 1m straight cord is ideal for leisure listening with a portable MP3 player or laptop. The hidden beauty of this flexibility is lower maintenance since you can easily replace a cord.

i bought this on a whim sense there was no reviews on these, so i'm writing one because if you a dj like me these could not be anymore nifty. adjustment on the right ear piece so you don't have to use your shoulder stays snug and comfortable, Loud! i was blow away a the volume and the bass response as well with the mids to highs giving the size of the speakers, also a lock in 1/8inch cable that goes in and out of the left ear piece also came with adaptors! these are really great if your on a budget but need a quality set of headphones, wether it be recording, everyday listening, i use them as a second opinion to my studio monitor when mastering tracks . only down side based on preference is they don't cover your complete ear. GIVE IT A TRY!! wont regret buying these

(Actually bought 3 pairs of PIONEER headphones all together and ALL were bad...read more of my reviews). So...my first pair (PIONER HDJ-1000) lasted about 2 years. Sound quality was great and they felt pretty comfortable. Then one day I pull them out and find a tiny crack at the swivel hinge. Sure enough, the piece broke off completely and that one piece was left dangling by the wire. I thought it was just me and handling them cracked the housing...so I bought the HDJ-1500. (Review for that one as well) But with that pair, they cracked and broke off during my FIRST gig using them!!! And I was opening for SHOWTEK. Man...those pics and videos are embarrassing seeing my earpiece dangle from my head. :/ That plastic housing is just too flimsy for the price you're paying for them. So watch out for that. I handled my pairs so delicately and even purchased a hard case for them. Nonetheless...they broke on me. So going with a more inexpensive route...i bought the HDJ-500...Big mistake. (Review for that as well) After 3 months of use, one of the monitors is cutting out. Obviously faulty wiring...although it held up pretty nicely as far as quality. Just cant catch a break from PIONEER. But if you DO purchase any of their products (especially headphones)...be sure to get the protection plan. It ended up being well worth it.

I have used Pioneer Hdj's for club/mobile/home rec they all performed well but for proffesional recording I would have to pay more and probably go with Ultrasone or something comparable.

These sound great (and loud) for DJ use, however they will break on you! The plastic headband is junk. Mine finally broke in 3 places. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

Comments about Pioneer HDJ-500 DJ HEADPHONES:

So I bought these headphones 2 years ago. I typically use them for tracking. Lately, I've been using them to mix and even master. They honestly give a great representation of the sound of your mix. Now, that doesn't mean that I can do all of mastering on these and it comes out perfect. You have to throw it out on different systems to make sure it sounds good but for the money, this is a steal. Looking to get some nice open backs for mixing and mastering but for tracking these things are great. The only downside is that they get a little uncomfortable after you have them on for awhile. Other than that they are super durable and great quality.

Great for what I bought them for!

        By James Knapp

        from Reno, NV

Comments about Pioneer HDJ-500 DJ HEADPHONES:

Recently, the old, busted headphones I used primarily for DJing (Able Planet NC200's) broke. Now, these headphones were pretty durable. I'd had them for three years and from trip to trip and gig to gig they broke more and more. I'd taped them, glued them, and generally prayed they wouldn't bust in the middle of a set. I have a second pair for producing and mastering music, AKG 702's, but given those are open headphones, they were too impractical for DJing. Not to mention, I don't want to go out on the town with a pair that valuable. So that left me with one option, find a perfect pair for ~$100. I went on amazon and checked prices, reviews, and details to find the ideal pair of headphones. Then I got a call yesterday offering a very large and very fun sounding gig, so my search went into overdrive. I had to get a pair of headphones immediately! I decided upon a pair of Numark Redwave headphones, but when I got to guitar center, I didn't like them as much as I'd hoped. I tested both Shure 550's and these HDJ 500's, and decided that the sound, build quality, and appearance of these were far better. I bought them and headed over to the gig, after 3 hours of wearing and using these headphones I can honestly say they are exactly what I was looking for. All of the features reinforce Pioneer's great reputation for quality products. As another reviewer said about the warranty: Don't shoot yourself in the foot. Get the protection plan, hopefully it's a waste of money, if you catch my drift. Too long, didn't read? BUY THESE.

        Great value and performance

        By Terry Delongchamp

        from Ann Arbor, Mi

Comments about Pioneer HDJ-500 DJ HEADPHONES:

I needed a new set to replace an ancient pair of Pioneer headphones I'd been using. I'm glad I came across this set as they are comfortable to wear, provide great sound, and were very reasonably priced. I like the ability to swivel the ear piece as well. It works perfect to keep them on your head, but still allow you to hear what is in cued up. All in all a great buy...you won't be disappointed.
