Decided to get this unit for my son who wants to learn how to DJ. Great looking unit. Good reivews and the cost was very reasonable. I use Virtual DJ which can be used with the DDD-SB Unit but this DDJ-SB2 unit has not had mapping created yet by Virtual DJ. So I had to return it to go with NuMark Mix Track Pro II. I really wanted to keep this unit but it is not ready for use with VDJ yet.

The DDJ-SB2 is a excellent controller for beginners, amateurs, or for constant mobile DJs. I love everything about this controller in terms of functionality. It works excellent, very responsive, ease of use ... until I discovered a problem... A SERIOUS PROBLEM!! While a song is paused, I noticed a lot of hiss and interference coming from the DJ controller. I tried everything! Even though I lowered the Mic volume, I switched RCA cables, I switched mixers, switched computers, switched USB cables, and I even used a Stereo DI box AND THE NOISE & INTERFERENCE DOESN'T GO AWAY!! I discovered that the culprit of the problem is within the controller itself. I opened it and found an open ground connection at the RCAs and very poor shielding of the Mic volume knob. C'MON PIONEER!!! 40 days had passed and unfortunately, I can NO LONGER RETURN IT. For you begineer or budget DJs looking for a quality DJ controller for cheap, go buy something with balanced TRS or XLR outputs. Avoid anything with just RCA outputs.

Comments about Pioneer DDJ-SB2 Serato DJ Intro Controller:

I use this product to practice my skills and when I got it I figured when I payed for the product it would come with a full version of the software and I would be able to record and share my abilities with it, and I was told at guitar center that it would come with a software, and when I got home and downloaded it it was only the into and was trying to get me to pay $160 for the whole program plus $10 dollars a month when all I wanted to do was record. Very disappointed

Software frustrations and wish bluetooth speaker option

          By Nick

          Verified Buyer

Comments about Pioneer DDJ-SB2 Serato DJ Intro Controller:

Works fine, but frustrated for two reasons: 1) the free software from Serrato they suggest download to use this machine (DJ Intro) doesn't let you record mixes - you can play them, but not save them. That is frustrating. To do that, you have to buy a software upgrade for $10 a month to save you work..???!!!! So to save your mixes, you have to spend $120 more than price of hardware which make it far more expensive. I know that may not be the hardware people's fault, but very frustrating. 2) wish it was easier in this day and age to hook it up to a bluetooth speaker. You need either more traditional speakers or use the headphone jack...

Comments about Pioneer DDJ-SB2 Serato DJ Intro Controller:

I have no complaints about the pioneer equipment but serato dj intro isn't " beginner" friendly as its online instruction manual is terribly flawed, troubleshooting customer service is clueless and the hardcopy basic instructions are no help.

Comments about Pioneer DDJ-SB2 Serato DJ Intro Controller:

I bought this to get me back into music. I ran into an issue with the hissing sound. Just like everyone else I swapped out every possible cable. But being an IT engineer I figured it had to be due to some sort of grounding. Once I switched out the power supply to my laptop for an oem model and more wattage, the hissing stopped. Also, use a good surge protector. Not a cheapy. One that will provide protection against grounding issues. So, I hope this works for others having the same issue. Other than that it's good.

Can do a lot, but can not perform more than 8 beat auto loop, which in my opinion is basic one of the only necessary features to mix smoothly. The roll, slicer, and sampler are cool but in the end unnecessary

Comments about Pioneer DDJ-SB2 Serato DJ Intro Controller:

Great little mixer/controller,except for one thing - the most important thing. There is a PRONOUNCED hiss coming from the output, and there is apparently no way to mitigate it. I have tried everything: swapping cables, master/trim/filter settings, numerous speakers, numerous laptops, and in fact numerous DDJ SB2 units. I am on my third one is as many months, all with the exact same problem, which was easily duplicated in the store where I bought the unit. Returning this one and I am done with Pioneer. Tech support says the same two things each time I call to report the problem: 1) we've never heard of that happening, and 2) return it or send it in for repair. Thing is, this hissing issue is ALL OVER the internet, so it's obviously not just me - and it's impossible that Pioneer has never heard of the issue. NEVER AGAIN. Too bad, cause otherwise I like it a lot.
