Adapting to today's variety of media formats, the CDJ-850 enables playback of MP3, AAC, WAV, and AIFF audio files from CDs and USB memory devices. A USB port located on top of the turntable enables users to quickly connect an external storage device such as a hard drive packed with music files, minimizing the need to bring a laptop computer to performances.
The CDJ-850 turntable includes rekordbox, Pioneer's proprietary music management software that organizes and catalogs a DJ's entire music library. When music files are imported to rekordbox, the software analyzes each file and prepares them for use specifically with the new CDJ turntable.
Pro-series Design and Exacting Features
Inheriting the club standard layout and precise control features of its professional CDJ series, the CDJ-850 integrates a large 206mm jog dial for continuous, free-and-easy control along with a rotary selector and browse buttons integrated within the display.
Compatible Media and Formats
Users can mix a variety of music formats and media, as the CDJ-850 is compatible with MP3, AAC, WAV, and AIFF digital audio formats recorded on USB storage devices or CD-R/RW discs.
Included rekordbox Software
Pioneer's new exclusive DJ music management software makes it easy for home DJs to effortlessly organize their entire music library as it analyzes files (settings, creating playlists, saving histories) to their custom specifications. As used by professionals to optimize DJ play, the software enables users to:
1. Analyze data such as the Wave, Beat Grid, BPM, and ID3 Tag of music files
2. Create cues and loops settings
3. Create and edits playlists
4. Save history of music files played on the CDJ-850
USB Export Capability
DJs using the rekordbox software can easily export their music files and custom managed data onto a USB device and quickly plug in directly to the CDJ-850 and access tracks without the need to be linked to a PC. Play histories on the CDJ-850 are automatically recorded onto rekordbox via connected USB device for the DJ's next session which makes the cycle of music file management, DJ play and preparation for future sessions very simple.
The display and user interface of the player is designed for quick and fluid music selection. Combined with its rotary selector, navigation through music lists (title, artist, BPM, etc.) is extremely fast and easy. The WAVE display enables smooth DJ play because the user can visually analyze the flow and dynamics of the entire song.
DJ Software Control and Audio Interface
The CDJ-850 multi-media player features MIDI, enabling control of various DJ software running on a laptop. With the use of the built-in USB HID interface, the CDJ-850 can also control more complex operations of DJ software without the need for a control disc. For additional versatility, the player can also be used as a PC audio interface.
Tag List Function
Equipped with an editable Tag List functionality, you can easily register tracks during play or preview to add to your playlist queue. The song order in the Tag List can be altered and saved as a playlist in rekordbox.

I've had one for about 6 months, getting another one this weekend to complete the set up. This is a great improvement from the 800s, definetly worth the buy. I've almost fully switched to playing off USB now. My only complaint is the WAV doesn't load as quickly as it does on a 1000. It shows up as the song plays in real time. It did come with Rekordbox which will trasfer over the WAV format in full on the CDJ. However, i often move the folders around on the USB to make it more organized and for some reason the WAV format is lost and won't show up in full. Not a huge deal, but i didn't know this until after i bought so i was a little disappointed but I've gotten use to it.
i have had my CDJ-850 for about 2 months now, its very responsive with all modes and interfaces. I Highly recommend this to any beginning DJ's because its setup is very simple to operate but still is entertaining to the professionals.I rated 4 stars because i very recently noticed sometimes while playing with the loops or vinyl speed adjust while doing multiple things at once JUST SOMETIMES the cdj's white spinning precursor in the middle will "freeze" but the spinning precursor is the only thing that freezes and it doesnt stop the music or anything else it just visually freezes and just by scratching the platter it "unfreezes", mabye its getting "insufficient power" or something because i moved it from being plugged into my basement to my room, and it was doing great when it was in the basement. Honestly, i don't really care because everything else is good :) Overall i am very glad i bought my CDJ-850, i just bought one to start off because $900 is A LOT of $$$.It came with Rekordbox but i couldn't quite figure out how to download to our 2008 Imac. I highly recommend this CDJ! I plan to buy more from Pioneer because i have been told it's the best and i know that now! Thank you for your time and have a nice day! :)
This is the essential turntable for any DJ that isn't using vinyl. Don't even bother with the upper end Pioneer's, these ones get the job done perfectly.
they are so good
Great CDJ!!! Plain and simple. I was torn between this and cdj 900... but really the way i saw it was get 850 or 2000(no thankyou)... 900 will get lost in the middle. IN MY OPINION. I truly believe this was great improvement to the 800, platter feels just perfect for me. I use it with serato, very responsive. But when do use it with out my labtop with usbs, it is very quick in recognizing the songs. It also sound very good.. im opinion get this cdj instead of the 900... save the money for better use in this crazy dj world.. Technics gone, next cds... but this is midi enabled so its the best of both worlds. I give it 4 stars because Pioneer sent me a broken 1. I disliked waiting.
