Overview

The PolySaturator distortion pedal from Pigtronix takes the original design even further, adding a Class A J-FET booster stage to the front end and re-voicing the gain structure to provide an even wider range of sounds. The PolySaturator produces everything from subtle grit to blue velvet sustain inspired by our favorite tube amp lead channel.

The PolySaturator excels at gritty, edge-of-overdrive tones, but crank up the gain and you will be assaulted by face-melting ultra-high-gain sounds that will please shredders and shoegazers alike with impressive string to string clarity and F.A.T. tube sound. Our JRC4558D powered EQ circuits provide 12 db / octave active filtering over three distinct audio bands. This powerful EQ structure combined with a state-of-the-art approach to tube emulation, allows the musician to dial up wildly diverse and satisfying textures of analog distortion. Unprecedented touch sensitivity and overall range of distortion tones is achieved through multiple gain stages, and active EQ, perfectly balanced to give the musician enhanced control and expression using picking dynamics alone.

The PolySaturator guitar pedal presents a flexible and affordable alternative that will outperform any other boutique or mass production distortion effect available.

great distortion pedal, very versitile

Comments about Pigtronix PolySaturator Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

What a great pedal. This little stompbox covers a very wide range of tones, from subtle clean boost all the way to maxed out high-gain Marshall-like tones. The +/- 12 db eq for lo, mid, and hi are extremely dynamic and that makes it easy to dial in whatever tone you need. The gain and volume controls allow you to find every distortion sound you might need, whether its classic rock or new-metal crunch. The small size allows it to be placed anywhere on my pedalboard and it can use any voltage from 9-15V (try using different voltages for even more varieties of tone). When I got my first Polysaturator there was something wrong. There was a lot of noise and buzz in the unit. I emailed Pigtronix and whithin a day I was shipping it back to get replaced free of charge. They were extremely helpful and quick to respond to my email. The new unit worked perfectly (still does) and is whisper quiet, even with the gain maxed out. It even works really well with other instruments!

Comments about Pigtronix PolySaturator Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is a very nice sounding distortion. It is small and fits nicely in a pedal board but... it requires an 18V power supply which is provided but will require that your pedal board power supply has an 18V source or that you have an additional outlet to plug into. Not a big deal but if you gig you may need to plan for an extra outlet to plug this in. It is excellent sounding and the Hi/mid/lo eq really works well to dial in a specific sound. Overall, I think this is a nice sounding piece and works well. I also own the philosopher's Tone (awesome compressor). Pigtronix makes some very nice pedals.

Comments about Pigtronix PolySaturator Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

Awesome pedal. I run a dual amp setup, deluxe reverb and a marshall silver jubilee and couldn't find a distortion pedal I loved, until now. It can be whatever you want it to be. Marshall/ocd tones? check. Clean, check. Edge of breakup check. It sounds like no other distortion pedal I've tried. I think it's because of the active EQ. Keep in mind that Pigtronix created a "creamsicle" overdrive which was a modded version of this pedal in 06, and all versions of the regular green Polysaturator were revised to the creamsicle mods afterwards. What they did was switch the op amp from one that's used in tube screamers, to one that's f awesome. Also, all the tone stacks use op amps as well. This thing is a steal. I love it, distortion seacrch over. Oh, all the comments about fuzz are true, it can do fuzz too if you turn the bass up. If you want distortion instead of fuzz just back the bass down a bit. It's so flexible.

Comments about Pigtronix PolySaturator Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I broke my own rule and bought something online without trying it first, but the deal seemd really good. I wanted something to replace my ancient Tubescreamer, and in the demo videos I watched this sounded great. To use it, I had to turn the volume knob all the way down - I'm not exaggerating - I had it set to about 5%, but the distortion it gave didn't suit me or my rig, so I'm returning it. If you're looking for something that you could stomp to get big volume jump for a solo, this thing might work really well for you. I'm returning it. And I wont buy anything online without first trying it live.
