With the Aria overdrive effect pedal, Pigtronix takes a unique approach to diode clipping that retains the expressive nature of your music. The Pigtronix Aria guitar pedal is smooth and musical, imparting creamy sustain and enhanced harmonic content. More powerful than a modded Screamer and tastier than an old Muff, Pigtronix Aria overdrive pedal delivers the goods, no matter how you turn the knobs.
The Pigtronix Aria's 3-band active EQ is voiced for maximum versatility and sweetness in all settings. Exceptional as a recording tool and essential in the live rig, the Aria pedal's 12dB/octave EQs boost and cut at carefully selected frequencies, allowing you to adapt to a variety of amps or to craft entirely new, killer tones of your own.
Layer the Pigtronix Aria with your amp's distortion or another gain pedal (PolySaturator) or a compressor (Philosopher's Tone) to create deep crunchy textures that ooze pure Rock inspiration.

This is a great sounding pedal. It has a few characteristics that separate it from the crowd: - a nice grind to low notes. Most pedals seem to distort high notes more than lows, but this distorts more evenly, more like a tube amp. - three band EQ for cutting and boosting. - clarity. Most overdrive/distortion pedals add off-sounding sub harmonics when playing close harmonies, like a minor third or 2nd up high. I've always found it annoying, but the Aria does not do this. There's now low frequency muck when playing close intervals up high on the neck. Then why only 4 stars? The layout of this pedal is stupid, with the input and output jacks on the right side of the pedal, and knobs that can easily be moved by your foot when stepping on the pedal. Pigtronix has a real winner with this pedal, if only they could put it in a standard-sized box with normal input/output orientation.
I bought this pedal at a guitar show, took it home, and S'd my pants. This pedal's tone is rich and full of harmonics. All you need on your board is a Tube Screamer and the ARIA. Your sonic bases are covered. The EQ knobs at noon are basically flat like on a mixing board. If you turn them to the left, they cut the frequency and to the right, they add. Gain at noon is a good start, much past that and you are in fuzz territory. Back it off and you have a thick medium gain overdrive. It compares well to the Fulltone Catalyst, but with throatier Mids. Overall this pedal is extremely well built, sonically superb, and stacks well with other pedals if need be. Try in conjunction with the Pigtronix Philosopher's tone and you're in business!
