"Strap On" this practice amp

Price of the Pignose Original Practice Amp is only $5.00 more than I paid for mine in 1977! It's great to put on a spare guitar strap and go outside and stay electric. Good overdrive sound and if you can get a "roadie" to open and close the box, wah-wah sounds can be had for a kick. Also good for a lo-fi distortion box if plugged between your guitar and a combo amp. A friend built me a birch cabinet box with dovetail assembly. A killer wicker speaker grille was made from a cheap wicker table placemat. There were some great things that came out of the 70's, besides my wife.

Compact Joy

The pignose, a classic little package, is memorable for its great tone and portability. Although lacking in underlying features, it makes up in terms of reliability and outstanding delivery. Take it to the park, take it on vacation, take it to Peru, you can take this bad boy anywhere. The tone really is just amazing and really, it is what differentiates the pignose from other portable amps. Most portable amps really just dont have any distinct personality to them, they are simply regular guitar amps made in smaller sizes. The pignose has that distinct punchy tone and crunchy distortion that we all know and love and, for that matter, if you dont love it, you can always plug in your favorite pedal, as every pedal that I've tried has sounded great through this amp. Although the features are not necessarily grandiose, I've always felt that it is great how it is. The only knob is a volume knob, which is really all you need. If you're looking for a portable amp that sounds great, this is your ticket. If you want something that is fully customizable and tweakable, look elsewhere.

Little amp rocks

My brother actually owns a pignose portable amp. This amp has killer tone. It's very high quality and rugged. We've had ours for years and it's still in like new conditioin. I would recommend this amp as a practice amp especially if you travel. It can run off batteries or a power supply. We've even recorded using this amp and you can get a huge sound. You may want to use your own effects, distortion, as this only comes with one gain knob. The gain rises with volume, so you'd have to crank it to get overdrive.

The Best portable amp.

I got a pignose the week after I bought an electric guitar it is great its very portable and if you want to play your guitar on the go then you can make it run on batterys I suggest it to all guitarists that are low on space and like to travel with their guitar.

wow....

I bough mine used on eBay for $35 plus 15 to ship, and it was pretty much brand new. I'm a hobbyist guitarist, and I've owned and used a few different practice amps. I keep looking for excuses to buy a "real" practice amp, like as in bigger, but for me this one does the job! If you like to rock like me, you'll use your pedals with this one as the distortion built in isn't the greatest. Both a Digitech Grunge and MXR Dime pedal sound great thru it, esp. with the pig knob up about halfway or a little less. You can play this amp open or closed, but closed is where it really deepens up and sounds the fullest--definitely bigger than you'd think for such a tiny thing. All in all the best you'll get for something this small. I'd do it again.
