Overview

The VS-R StroboRack Virtual Strobe Tuner incorporates Peterson's patented Virtual Strobe technology in a single space rack format. Amazing accuracy (0.1 cent), a huge Strobe display screen, all metal construction, Neutrik jacks, and banks of Sweetened tunings for electric, acoustic, bass, 12-string, pedal steel, resonator guitar, electric violin & instruments using the Buzz Feiten Tuning System. The large graphics tuning display can be used to display any message or slogan when not tuning. By simply entering your message using the front panel knob, it will then display when the tuner is in its non-muted "play" mode. The custom message can either scroll on the screen or come up line by line.

Ever tune your instrument as precisely as possible and it still sounds a bit off, particularly when you play in certain keys? Peterson's Sweetened tunings tap into the tempered tunings that make each instrument sound the best it can, across the board, in every key. The Peterson StroboRack's banks of sweetened tunings are programmed for specific instruments. Each is a well-tempered tuning for your specific type of instrument, and it sounds, well, sweet!

Upgrade your StroboRack for any type of signal with the optional SR-EX StroboRack Pro Input Expander.

I would buy this again...

Comments about VS-R StroboRack Virtual Strobe Tuner:

I already had a StroboPlus HD which I loved, but I wanted to clean things up a little so wanted one I could put in my rack... I'm still getting aquatinted with the StroboRack, but liking it more the better I get to know it...

I wasn't pleased that when it arrived thought... It's packed in a box WAY too big for it and when I opened it up it had a big gouge in it under the screen... needless to say, I was REALLY disappointed that I'd have to return it and have it replaced and wait longer to get to play with it... To their credit though, Guitar Center, at a little prodding from me had the replacement shipped 2nd Day... I did have to go to Guitar Center to pick it up, where as I had the original one shipped direct to me, but then they may have wanted to make sure that the replacement wouldn't have any issues... and it did not, even though it was packed in the same OVERsized box as the first one was.

Great tuner

By Michael Burgess

from Denton, TX

Comments about Peterson VS-R StroboRack Virtual Strobe Tuner:

I was hit with sticker shock on this tuner, but I finally took the plunge. Here's my situation and experience with it. 1) I'm a bass player, so I found this tuner to be very responsive to bass frequencies. Some tuners you really struggle with to get a low e or b, but this one has no problem. 2) I use a rack. Good luck finding something else out there of this quality in a rack. You might find a used Korg on ebay, but your choice of something new is between this and behringer. 3) It's the little things. The back of this tuner has an input for a gooseneck light. Add that to the lights on the front of my power conditioner and it is extremely helpful. Overall, if you wait for a discount coupon and buy online, you could get this for less than 300 bucks. If you want accurate and reliable tuning, buy it. If you want to be frustrated and annoyed, pick up a behringer for less.

Best tuner made!

By Tom Schupbach

from Ellinwood, Kansas

Comments about Peterson VS-R StroboRack Virtual Strobe Tuner:

I installed this tuner in my rack which also includes a Rocktron Prophesy that has a built in tuner. When using both at the same time (easy to do, I also have a Line 6 G90 wireless that outputs to both at the same time, or mutes the Prophesy remotely for silent tuning) the Rocktron tuner shows that I'm in tune while the Stroborack is still calling for tighter tuning. The Rocktron was just as accurate as the Boss TU-1000 Stage tuner that I previously used, so that is an improvement on both of them! There are many more features in the Stroborack than just tuning, it is a great piece of gear for a professional. It's a bit much both in cost and functionality for beginners, but when you are serious about your music, you can't go wrong with this tuner! The quality of this tuner is excellent, I think you could run over it and not hurt it one bit! It will live in my rack setup (which gets moved a lot!) and give trouble free service for years to come. This is a tool, not a gadget and is priced accordingly. I would never go back to any other tuner!

Peterson VS-R StroboRack is rock solid

By David Jordan

from Richmond, Va.

Comments about Peterson VS-R StroboRack Virtual Strobe Tuner:

I purchased the Peterson Stroborack at my local Guitar Center. They did not have one in stock so they shipped it to me. The Stroborack tuner arrived packed inside the manufacturer's box which was placed inside a much larger carton by Guitar Center. I was a little concerned when I picked up the package from my front porch and things were rattling around. Opening the shipping box revealed that Guitar Center had placed a minimum of packing inside the shipping box which allowed the factory carton to slide freely around inside the shipping box. Further examination showed that one end of the factory carton had opened and allowed the Stroborack to slide around inside the shipping container. The factory carton is not strong enough to keep the product in the box and the tuner got bounced around during shipping. All I can say is poor job Guitar Center. Your shipping department people need training. Fortunately there is no apparent damage to the unit. Now for the good stuff. To say the Stroborack is built like a tank is an understatement. I think you could run over this thing with a tank and not hurt it! It is the heaviest built piece of rack mount equipment I have ever seen. If the insides of this thing are as good as the outside it will hold up to a ton of abuse. (In this case it did) Peterson gets an A+ for mechanical construction and design. As for tuning, I tuned several guitars and a bass with no problem at all. The tuner is extremely sensitive and it takes a light touch on the tuning keys to do the final tuning. Normally after I tune a guitar with my old tuner, I go back, play a few chords and fine tune by ear just to get things to sound the way they should. I didn't need to do that with this tuner. If you take the little bit of extra time required to fine tune your instrument additional "tweaking" isn't needed. It is obviously sensitive enough to set the intonation of your instruments although I have not done this yet. If you are in to drop and alternate tunings don't worry. There are a number of presets (called sweeteners) that have some of these predefined. Don't see what you want? There's room for to store 8 alternate tunings of your own. There is a test tone output that will give you any a properly pitched tone based on a note you play on your guitar or you can manually dial in any note you like to get the tone. The LCD display is large enough so that you can tune from across an average size room without having the walk over to the tuner. The message display function allows you to scroll or flash your own messages across the screen when you are not tuning. Seems a bit extravagant but it looks cool to have your band name or message scrolling across the screen. The only minor complain that I have is that there is no way to adjust the display's contrast. All in all this is a fine piece of equipment that I expect will last many years. I don't cover all of the features here. For more information go to Peterson's website and download the user manual. It is a little on the expensive side but is well worth the price.
