own 4 other clip on tuners but none match this one in two regards - first ergonomics - the clip mechanism has a "pivoting" stability feature in the bottom portion of the clip which allows for easy mounting on thicker headstocks - as to accuracy it makes the others I own seem crude in their ability to provide tuning accuracy - while the peterson doesn't "light up" in a brilliant color splash it's more than bright enough to use in daylight and the accuracy it provides is vastly superior to my other units (using it for standard and regularly for DADGAD as well)

Bottom line upfront: It works about as good as the onboard tuner of the guitar. Cons, the advertisement's quote, "Smallest multi-temperament tuner" ... more like the smallest temperamental turner. Doesnۡt hold the G stringۡs frequency very well, meaning the display jumps a lot. The strobe is a great way of tuning, but I really wonder if this is more of a gimmick than an actual strobe tuner ... but what do I know Iۡve only been a musician since 1971.

I have had several of other brand clip on tuners which seem to break with high regularity. This one is rugged enough to travel in its container in an average guitar case. The instructions and initial appearance of how to tune using the strobe motion rectangles on the display were not instantly intuitive, but easy enough to use once you catch on. I have not tried it in an orchestra setting with feedback from other instruments, but think its durability justifies the price even if it turns out that you may need to step away from other instruments' noise while using it.
I was in the market to buy a top quality professional tuner. The staff at Guitar Center were very helpful and showed me the different models but none where as good as the Peterson's. I really wanted the foot pedal version but being constrained with a budget I got the clip. Upon my first use I must say this is the best tuner I have ever had and it's convenient with the clip. I highly recommend this tuner!!!
If you have an electric guitar and are planing on doing any intonation work you basically need to have this or any of it's higher priced cousins. Most tuners are not accurate enough to adjust your bridge saddles. In fact my XXXX brand tuner would not even show out of tune if I flexed the neck. After spending some time with this and getting my guitars setup correctly the difference is astounding. It takes a light touch to get your instrument into tune with this thing. It is very sensitive and very accurate. It works on the vibrations inside your instrument so I am assuming it would also work well in a noisy environment. It has no problems picking up even very light finger picking. This little tuner is first rate. It is very nice looking with a chrome kind of finish. It's about the size of three AA batteries. It comes with a very nice tin to store it as well. It has a bright back light that turns off to save battery. The variety of 'sweetened' tunings is also very neat. Really fixed the chord sounds on my acoustic and my electric guitars. For a clip on tuner this is really as good as it gets. Its a little more expensive than some other options but it is really worth it. It has saved me tons of frustration getting my guitars setup correctly with other low cost tuners.
I own a Peterson StroboFlip that lives in my home studio and I finally got tired of unplugging it and packing it up in my acoustic case (a very tight squeeze) whenever I take my instrument somewhere. I almost went for a cheapo tuner, but decided to splurge a little since I really like my StroboFlip and this clip-on has all the great sweeteners the flip does (I have 6 and 12 string acoustics and a violin), not to mention spot-on accuracy. Not sure what the reviewer was talking about that said it jumps around on the G string - this thing is rock solid stable, easy to read, and works best for me if I pick with my thumb and not a plectrum. Worth the extra money to me. And it comes in a nice, handy-dandy little metal case - well packaged indeed.
First let me say that the service from Guitar Center is "Top Shelf" in my opinion. No hassles making the order and delivery was prompt. This was my first Peterson tuner and all I can say is that it's incredible! I knew there was something not right with my Epiphone EL-00 and it wasn't the guitar. The tuner I had was nice but the tuning wasn't spot on. It is now though *S*. Thanks Peterson and thank you Guitar Center staff. Keep doin' what you do!!
I bought this tuner 6 months ago. I use it on my electrics and acoustics. Works pretty good, however, in trying to tune the low E string on both acoustic and electric the indication jumps around and sometimes shows "B" instead of E. So, I have to tune A first, then tune E by ear. It is however more accurate than other tuners I have used, and by the way I changed the battery to be sure that was not the problem. Works pretty good, but not perfect! 4 Stars oly
I've always been a fan of clip on tuners because of the convenience and the ability to tune in noisy environments. I had been using the Intellitouch PT10 and PT20 for a long time. While they are pretty good tuners, I quickly noticed that there was a pretty wide range of pitch, relatively speaking, that the tuner would indicate as being in tune. This is unacceptable if you ask me. Another thing that people fail to realize about those tuners is that the distance between 0 ( in tune) and +20 cents is only 3 or 4 notches in the LED display, so you could be anywhere from +1 to about +7 cents out of tune and it will read the same. Bottom line - I wanted a dead accurate tuner. Peterson strobe tuners have always been the top of the line go-to tuner. You always find them on the benches of the best techs in the world. Their version of the clip on, the StroboClip, hold the same high standard for accurate tuning. The StroboClip is accurate within 1/10 of a cent. Now that's what I call accuracy. You can adjust relative pitch from 440 and also change key/capo compensation if needed, but the biggest feature is what they call Sweetened Tuning presets, which is basically a preset that you set to whatever instrument you're tuning in attempt to make it even more accurate. Really the only bad thing about this tuner is the price tag. Peterson has always been pricey and somewhat rightfully so, but I wish it was maybe 20% cheaper. Even so, I'm happy with paying for such an accurate tuner. If you want to be confident that you're always perfectly in tune, spend the extra money on this tuner.
Compared to a regular tuner this unit works well. WhenI used the Sweetend setting on my uke it really dials it in. Very small adjustments to the tuners are refelected in the readout. Unit feels sturdy, but you should avoid dropping it. Comes with nich metal case.
This is the best thing that has happened to me so far trying to learn to play a dobro. I do not have a lot of musical talent and have been strugling to get dobro or guitar in tune. This thing is Great. Makes trying to learn a lot more enjoyable with an instrument in tune.
Let's set the groundwork, this tuner is a clip on (read this as a tuner you need no cords for that will isolate the sound you are trying to tune with minimal problem if not at a rock concert) that allows you the ability to tune to within .001 (.1 cent) of the test tone. Most tuners out there save one or two are between 1/5 and i/10 as accurate (with them tuning to .5 to 1 cent). This wouldn't make a real difference if playing solo, but if there are more than one instrument playing you could be off sufficiently to be readily noticed. This unit comes in a metal protective case as well and is about all you could want or hope for over all.
