What's different about Penteo?
Unlike many existing plug-ins that use phasing effects, matrixing, delays and steering to create surround fields that can sound smeared and "wobbly"-with a lack of low-end punch and the creation of unpleasant sonic artifacts when down-mixed back to stereo-Penteo dynamically generates real surround fields, including true, discrete center and rear surround channels rather than the mono tracks many others generate. Penteo also has more control precision and automation, as well as a variety of versatile presets designed to save studio time and effort either by themselves, or as starting points for your perfect surround mix.
Compatible with 32- and 64-bit versions of Mac OS X (10.5 or later) and Windows (XP or later), Penteo is protected by your iLok 2 key and supports RTAS, VST 2.4, and AU formats, with AAX support available in the 2013 Request pre-release and runs in Pro Tools (8 or later) most AU- and VST-compatible hosts

Available preset modes
Hard Center: provides a totally discrete center channel
Penteo Music: ideal for music and special effects, discrete center partly replaces the phantom center
Stereo Plus: effective for when surround channels may be lost further down the processing chain
Quadraphonic all content fed into Left and Right, Front and Rear channels
LCR: 3.0 / 3.1 mode produces no rear surround content
Triangle: fully discrete center, with all remaining power in the rear
Advanced Surround Controls
Left and Right Input: allows you to balance input from the previous source
Center Fade: the left-hand fader on the main control panel changes the level of the synthesized discrete center channel. The level of monaural components is kept constant by varying the amount of phantom center in L and R to complement the discrete C channel.
Surround Fader: the right-hand fader on the main control panel varies the level of the rear surround channels, altering the balance of energy between front and rear.
Mute/Solo and Peak Display Meter for every output: provides a visual reference to the surround mix
Advanced Low Frequency (LF) controls
LFE: generated from the mono sum using a low pass filter, allows the filter output to be attenuated as required
Effect: Boost-adds LFE content without removing LF energy from the main channels
Split-keeps bass level constant, allowing LFE channel to share the workload of the main channels
Frequency: 5 different settings 1/3 octave apart
Diverge: allows excess LFE energy sharing with center and main channels to avoid overloading center speakers in consumer equipment
