Overview

At the heart of the Thunderbass ET 5-String Bass is a wide dynamic range and meaty tone is a painstakingly perfect match of specially devised circuitry and select hardwoods. A straightforward control setup consisting of a master volume, active treble and bass boost/cut control knobs, and a pickup-blend knob govern the two active preamps with three proprietary tone modules specifically designed for Pedulla by Bill Bartolini.

The "Thunderguts" switchable circuit accesses the thicker and darker low mid growl while maintaining the Thunderbass signature punch. The result is maximum tonal versatility with minimum control panel clutter.

The ET ("Exotic Top") Thunderbass guitar uses laminated wings set to a five piece neck that includes two thin strips of Bubinga. The increased laminating redefines the attack, while the Bubinga accentuates the lower mids. This combination produces a considerably different tone: deeper, rounder, and a well-defined "sweet" high end. The ET electric bass is finished with a satin oil/urethane process. The result is the feel and looks of a fine oil finish with the protection of a durable urethane finish.

Extraordinary, beyond belief!

Comments about Pedulla Thunderbass ET 5-String Bass Guitar:

I doubted the cost/value of "boutique" basses for years and years. I'd always felt the the justification for spending $4000.00 or more on an exotic bass was unjustifiable and that, ultimately, the player made the difference, not the bass that she or he was playing. For the initial 15 years of playing, I believe that still to be true but as my skills, my ears and my musical journey evolved, off-the rack basses that I've owned and played weren't able to articulate the sounds that I was hearing in my head any longer. I invested so much time setting up Fenders, MusicMan's, Carvins, Kubicki's, etc. searching for the tone, feel and versatility that I was looking for. My Pedulla has the feel, playabilty, tone and expressivness that I've always imagined a bass to be. I played several Thunder 5s @ several different music stores over 5-6 years. I was committed not to making an "impulse" purchase. I spent hours in Guitar Center on many weekday afternoons playing several Thunder 5s. I was actively looking for design flaws in the build, the tone or in the quality or the construction or the craftsmanship...I found none. I sold a Stingray. I sold a Fender J. I saved, and sacrificed. I bought my MVP and understand now the difference that an instrument that I find yourself compatible with truly makes in my musical journey...Thank you Mike Pedulla for your obsessive commitment to craftsmanship and quality that, I feel, is without peer. (My GK 700rb/SBX 210 loves this bass too! ) BRAVO! :-)

a hands-down favorite

Comments about Pedulla Thunderbass ET 5-String Bass Guitar:

I have the six-string version of this bass, and it is the best bass I've ever played. It's very playable--the neck isn't too wide, it's comfortable, it's got an intuitive feel to the fretboard, and it's not too heavy so you don't feel like you're carrying an anvil around stage. It's got great tone for eclectic music--I have it hooked up to two SWR Goliaths through an SWR SM-900, and it can have a nice warm sound, clean, full, and just beautiful, and it can roar and give such depth to metal. It's solid, reliable (I've had mine for years with no problems at all and the reinforced neck construction makes it resilient in crazy weather changes), and it's just addicting to play. This is the bass that lets you play and sound your best. Whatever your skill level or musical interest, I would HIGHLY recommend this bass. You might not ever change back!
