Based on the original Pedulla design, the PentaBuzz 5-String Lined Fretless Bass combines first-class tone with player-friendly ergonomics. The PentaBuzz embodies the essence of fretless bass: responsive to every nuance, able to translate the most subtle of musical expressions, yet possessing an authoritative tonal spectrum. It features neck-thru-body construction for superb sustain and tone and a sleek neck shape that is effortless to play.
The beautifully sculpted flamed maple body is highly ergonomic and offers easy access to all 24 frets. The three-piece maple neck is topped by a lined fretless ebony fingerboard. The all-maple construction of the PentaBuzz provides maximum focus and sustain for full-spectrum sound. The gorgeous woods used in the Buzz are protected by a durable and lustrous polyester finish. The polyester-finished fingerboard is glass-smooth, giving the PentaBuzz its distinctive voice, while protecting the ebony from the rigors of performance and round wound strings.
A dual-action truss rod and two steel stiffening bars in the neck reinforce and maintain stability. The pickup array is extremely versatile and reproduces the naturally nuanced-yet-hard-hitting response of the bass. For maximum flexibility the standard control layout on the Buzz consists of volume, pan, active treble and bass controls (+/-15db), plus a midrange boost/cut switch. The midrange boost/cut is adjustable by trim pots in the control cavity, as is the overall preamp gain.

I have played fretless bass for a long time and therefor have played many freltess basses. The Pentabuzz is IT! My search is over. This bass is so well made that I can't explain in words. All I can say is that it sustains, resonates and growls like no other bass I've played. The fit and finish are flawless and the tone is super tight and focused with the best B string I've ever run into (better than any 35" out there). It has the standard Volume, Tone, Bass and Treble knobs, but adds a Mid Boost switch. When engaged, the tone takes on a very vocal sounds with greater dynamics and expression. It's very useful for soloing or cutting through loud guitars. The fingerboard is ebony, but it has a thin Polyester coat on it that protects it from roundwound strings. I always knew these were great basses, but until I actually bought one and used it on a gig I didn't know the true bliss that is the Pentauzz
