Overview

The Pedaltrain VOLTO is an innovative solution for the pedal user on the go. Using cutting edge lithium-ion battery technology Pedaltrain has designed an efficient and super quiet alternative to traditional AC powered options. The Volto has two 9 volt outputs which are capable of providing a total output power capacity of 2000mA. The Volto is a great choice for small pedal boards like the Pedaltrain-NANO and MINI. It's also super thin, about the same size as a smart phone. The Volto includes connecting cables and an AC charger with universal plug adapters that will allow you to recharge anywhere in the world. Now your set up can be as clean and simple as one cable from your guitar to your pedal board and one cable back to your amp, that's it!

I built a board with 14 pedals and a wireless receiver mounted on a Pedaltrain Pro with the idea of running it completely wireless, so I needed something that would power everything for at least a set. My original intention was to get two Sanyo Pedal Juice units and have them both charged before a gig, then switch at break. Problem was, that it looked like they were being discontinued and I could only get my hands on one, and that was from an obscure dealer in Phoenix (I'm in Seattle). Don't know why they weren't abundantly available - as everyone had told me, it worked great. I was excited when I heard rumors of the Volto coming out that did the same thing, so in January when it became avaialble I ordered one right away. Not only is it cheaper than the Sanyo, but it works just as well and charges faster. It's a little larger footprint than they lead you to believe - actual measurements are 3 3/8" x 4 3/4" and 3/4" tall. Both barrel outputs and the USB input for charging are on one side, which I find extremely useful (Pedal Juice was the same way, just not USB for the charger). I've played it so far for two consecutive hours on the above described board and it never got down to one bar left of power (it has three on the display, nice and bright too). It worried me at first because it went from 3 bars to 2 pretty quickly, but then it held at two until the gig was over. I was running at least one pedal and the wireless receiver constantly and usually 2 or 3 more on top of that. I'd say for $100 you get a whole lot of bang for your buck. Power is dead silent, all the pedals sounded good, and as the other reviewer said, it charges up quick. I will probably order another one of these! Comes with Velcro and wires, and I love that they made it thin enough to fit under the PedalTrain stuff (and probably most other boards). Five stars for sure. Buy one.

I bought this as soon as it was released after seeing it in action at Summer NAMM 2013. The product is a fantastic idea and my first unit worked great for 3 months.

One day during a practice, thankfully not a gig, it ran out of juice and when I plugged it in there was no response. I tried various outlets and adapters and got nada. Pedaltrain customer service is excellent and a replacement was sent quickly after they were contacted, but the replacement wouldn't charge out of the box.

I applaud Pedaltrain for innovation and will continue to support their boards, but I can't stand behind the Volto. It is unreliable and in a gigging world it has no use. Also, it is rather pricey for a quaint toy to use for home pedals. Better off with cables for now.

Comments about Pedaltrain VOLTO 9 Volt Rechargeable Power Supply:

I play the electric Bass in a church group. We practice once a week and play on Sunday. The unit is used to power my special effects pedals. It doesn't last as long as expected. The most annoying thing is with the power bars. As the charge drains, the unit cuts off with two of the three bars still on. It's still a useful device. It just doesn't perform as advertised - which is usually the case.

Comments about Pedaltrain VOLTO 9 Volt Rechargeable Power Supply:

Great little device. It does what is suppose to do, but it doesnt have isolated outputs. By not having isolated outputs it causes some pedals to make noise such as "Big Sky, Time Line". If you have small pedals and you want a compact pedalboard, this device is perfect for you. But if you have high power pedals, DO NOT GET THIS. You are going to get undesired noise and is going to bother you every time you play.

Comments about Pedaltrain VOLTO 9 Volt Rechargeable Power Supply:

Had this on my small pedalboard for about 2 weeks and I LOVE IT! Small enough to fit under the board and can still power up to 6 pedals (not any of the high amperage draw pedals though). Definitely worth it for a touring musican with a small pedalboard!

Comments about Pedaltrain VOLTO 9 Volt Rechargeable Power Supply:

I'm tired of removing and testing 9 volt batteries! When I rotate my many effect pedals now, I just plug them into the Pedaltrain Volto for power. Being rechargeable, it's a real convenience.

Comments about Pedaltrain VOLTO 9 Volt Rechargeable Power Supply:

I wanted to wait a couple of weeks worth of gigs and rehearsals before making this review... Before I pulled the trigger and purchased the VOLTO - I did a ton of research on this DC power supply; and even called Pedaltrain to discuss my specific application... Their tech support was fantastic! Probably like many of you - I had some reservations - because I had read several "bad" product reviews, etc.

But, my experience has been FANTASTIC so far. 2 gigs and 2 rehearsals on average - on a single charge. The DC solution seems to react well with my analog pedals, and the VOLTO supply has proven to be "super quiet".

Not sure why others had problems with theirs... I can tell you - the VOLTO has exceeded my expectations! Of course it is not designed to power Digital high drain pedals(looper pedals, digital delays, high definition reverbs, Multi Stomp digital effects, etc.), I am not using it for this...

The VOLTO power supply (along with the NANO pedal board) has reduced my stage footprint, made my set up quicker, holds a charge longer than I expected it to, and provides noiseless operation.

Looks great too, everywhere I have used it, the sound guys and other musicians are very curious, and have asked me lots of questions...

So do your research, if use use analog pedals with normal power consumption, THIS WORKS GREAT!

Comments about Pedaltrain VOLTO 9 Volt Rechargeable Power Supply:

The first one I purchased would not hold a charge. I exchanged it and the new volto is working correctly. However, Pedaltrain advertises that the capacity of the battery is 5000mah. I run 2 pedals and a wireless that draws at the most 400ma. That should let me run over 10 hours on one charge. I get more like 2.5-3 hours before it dies. That's still ok for my purposes, but definitely not as advertised.
