Unreliable. Returned it.

Comments about Peavey xPort USB Guitar Interface:

Bought this to do some quick, easy idea recording to my pc. First impression was it was cheaply made plastic. It worked ok for about 3 hours. First problem I had was getting a high pitched whining noise coming from my pc when this thing is plugged into it. It's not very loud, but you can definitely hear it. Does the same thing on all ports. I don't have any issues with any other USB devices. Second issue is, it started making a humming and crackling sound whenever I played my guitar through it. All the cables/speakers are good. Adjusting buffer and bit rates did nothing to help the issue. The only thing that helped was to turn the volume on the Xport almost all the way down and turn the monitors up. I'm not using the headphone jack either, it is from the line out port. I don't know why the line out is affected by the volume control, as it's supposed to be line out??? Oh well, had it four days and returned it. Not a reliable unit. Look elsewhere for something better unless you have money you're looking to throw away.
