Overview

Designed with veteran metal bassist David Ellefson, Peavey Zodiac DE Scorpio Bass Guitars are solid rock bass guitars featuring both split-coil and single-coil pickups.

"I wanted to create a bass that incorporates the best sound qualities of a traditional instrument but also has cutting-edge features designed for modern players," says Ellefson. "My technique and playing style have always demanded more from a bass guitar to really capture the power and depth of my music. The Zodiac DE brings those elements together in one powerhouse instrument."

In the celebrated Peavey tradition, Zodiac basses combine sought-after features with the road-worthy durability required by serious rock players. Like other basses in the Zodiac Series, the David Ellefson signature model—named Scorpio after Ellefson's sign in the astrological zodiac—is built using a solid alder body with sculpted front and back contours and equipped with an articulating bridge with machined saddles. The Scorpio is also outfitted to his specs, including custom Seymour Duncan pickups, a gloss-black finish and a mirrored pickguard.

"Rock n' roll is about constant reinvention and taking things to new extremes, and the Zodiac DE reflects my passion for that lifestyle," adds Ellefson. "I like the bass to be heard as well as felt through the music, and after all, what good is a fancy bass if you can't hear it?"

The Scorpio Bass features 2 master volume controls and one master tone control for shaping the Zodiac sound. Other features include an 8" radius maple neck so players can work into the 21-fret rosewood fingerboard in comfort, plus all-chrome hardware; butterfly tuners; and a Switchcraft jack.

Amazing bass

By LD

from Memphis TN

Comments about Peavey Zodiac DE Scorpio Signature Bass Guitar:

I'm a guitarist who only picks up a bass when recording my own music. I've always used a jazz bass when recording before. I am so impressed with this bass. I cannot find anything wrong with it. When recording I have the settings on my my board set like it was a bass with active pickups. The sound it makes is incredible with such a wide range of tone. I paid $$$ for this and I can't understand why anyone out there is throwing their money away on anything with Squire written on it when something with this much value is available. If you are looking for a bass do yourself a favor and buy this bass before they are no longer around.

Comments about Peavey Zodiac DE Scorpio Signature Bass Guitar:

i had been looking at basses for a long time trying to find the right one and i found this on display at a brand new guitar center. i had played a lot of the basses there and found it and when i saw this one i fell in love with it and after playing it, i just grew more fond. i bought it right away and use it as my main bass. it can make every sound i need for how i play. i would suggest this bass to anyone. the problem is i cant find anymore of these basses except online. so if you can find it, get it as soon as you can

Wow.... I was struck speechless

By Jake Goschi

from Chicago, IL

Comments about Peavey Zodiac DE Scorpio Signature Bass Guitar:

This was my first bass that I owned myself, I previously borrowed my uncle's Washburn, and this just blows that away. The main terrific features of this are the neck, pickups, and finish. As in other reviews, this thing has a FAST neck, I can effortlessly play chords on this if I wanted to. The sheer range you can get out of these Seymour Duncan pickups is massive, especially considering they are passive, and I play with flatwound strings and it still retains almost all the range of the factory strings. Finally the finish of this bass is just beautiful with the chrome pickguard. I can't find a single complaint for this bass! I reccomend saving the extra cash for this, it'll be worth it.

Amazing Bass!

By PattyG

from Columbia City, IN

Comments about Peavey Zodiac DE Scorpio Signature Bass Guitar:

I just purchased this bass about a month ago and i love it! It has perfect tone for playing metal and it has good stage presence. Everyone was watching me because it stands out not only with looks but tone too! You can get thundering lows and crisp clean highs with the slight turn of the tone knob! Great job Peavey! I recommend this bass to anyone who needs a reliable instrument for gigging and recording purposes.

It's about time

By Wayne Harris

from South Jersey

Comments about Peavey Zodiac DE Scorpio Signature Bass Guitar:

If you play electric bass then you know how wide the top of the neck is. When you wrap your hand around this neck it's really hot. It's fast and easy to get around. I can pull everything that I want from this bass. You can grab all the highs and lows without having to fudge around with the controls. I bought the black one with the chrome finish. By the way if you like a nice weighted bass instead of a bass "wanna be" then you'll love this. Peace, Love & Rock & Roll

Fantastic Bass!

By steve steele

from NYC

Comments about Peavey Zodiac DE Scorpio Signature Bass Guitar:

I was looking for a backup bass for my trusty '79 Fender P bass. As vintage P basses prices are getting ridiculous I decided to go for a new bass, I tried a ton and nothing came close to the De Scorpio. It has a fast narrow neck and gives you a very close p bass tone with just the neck pickup on or a contempary sound with both pickups. As a backup bass its fantastic in fact it may even soon replace my fender as my main gigging bass!
