Overview

The single-channel Windsor Studio amplifier features a footswitchable Boost button that increases the preamp level. Now you have the flexibility of a dual-channel amp plus control over the dynamic response. You also get the rich distortion characteristics of Windsor amp's class-A tube power topology. The Boost function can be used as an overdrive feature for the power section or simply as a volume boost for soloing.
This 15-watt amplifier uses two 12AX7 preamp tubes and one EL34 power-amp tube in a single-ended configuration with no negative feedback. The power section is designed to accommodate 6L6GC, 6550, 6CA7, KT88 and KT66 octal power tubes, as well as variations on those types. Peavey's exclusive Power Spongeā„¢ output attenuator incrementally adjusts the power output of the amplifier while maintaining the distortion characteristics of the power amp at any chosen volume level. Also onboard is a transformer-balanced XLR direct output with a unique microphone simulator that allows players to send the amplifier signal to a recording device or front-of-house mix without the use of a microphone. Additional features on this Peavey amp include true spring reverb, preamp volume, master volume, three-band tone equalization, footswitchable effects loop and a single 12" loudspeaker.

Peavey Windsor Studio 20W 1x12 Tube Combo Amp

By Sigeq

from Dryden, MI

Comments about Peavey Windsor Studio 20W 1x12 Tube Combo Amp:

I really like the amp. Great for home use with the power sponge option. But, it can also be really loud if you want it to be. If you have the sponge turned down to play at lower volumes it can get a little muddy but that is the price you pay to have the power sponge. I still love the amp. Great for distortion and clean. Highly recommended.

Best All Around Amp

By Mike Wise

from Scottsdale AZ

Comments about Peavey Windsor Studio 20W 1x12 Tube Combo Amp:

Clean sound, distorted sound, loud or quiet, this amp does it all. This is the best amp I have owned better than all the other major brands. Perfect for recording, the power sponge is a great feature. I can not find any negative aspects in this amp. It has all you really need especially if you are doing home/studio recording. Also fine for gigging, xlr direct out does not cut off the 12" speaker so for gigging thats a plus. After finding this I stopped wondering if there is something better. Its a great amp buy one.

Blah

Comments about Peavey Windsor Studio 20W 1x12 Tube Combo Amp:

I bought the half stack version of the windsor online without playing it before hand. I was really attracted to the price and figured i'd take a chance...I was not very pleased. The clean didn't sound too terribly bad but the distortion sounded terrible. Im usually pleased with peavey. But this was one time i wasn't. I now know why i couldn't find a guitar center who carried it in their store.

nice for the money

By Bruce

from Milwaukee, WI

Comments about Peavey Windsor Studio 20W 1x12 Tube Combo Amp:

I have owned the 100 watt half stack for over a year. I also have a Marshall tsl 100 and an Egnater tourmaster. I think the Windsor is a decent amp. It does'nt have a great clean sound but I can dial in lots of pleasing tones. If you can't get good tones with your Windsor you might check your bias or speaker phasing.
