Okay, first of all, this amp is modeled after the stuff that PEAVEY makes. Not what everyone else makes. Second, it's done perfectly. I tried it against ALL of the amps Peavey makes and it truly sounds exactly like them. What's better is you can match this with any cab you like. However, the Vypyr speakers in the combo are beyond amazing. Use the little footpedal if you don't like tap dancing. My floor space is free again and this amp has everything I needed for an amazing price. I wanted the XXX gain and the Classic 50 clean sound, with chorus and reverb. That's all I wanted and it's exactly what I got. I have the 212 tube combo and it's breathtaking and it really stands out in small and medium gigs. I bought the head to play larger venue's and I'm pairing it with a B-52 cab with Celestion G12H's. If I could get a cab with Vypyrs loaded in it I would no question. If you want the best Peavey has to offer plus some built in effects to clear up your floor space, get it without hesitation. If you want everyone else's stuff crammed in a circuit board then get something else. If you're dying for other hyped-up name brands then get those. This is by-far the best all-around amp I've ever needed for all rock, blues, and even jazz styles. It's very easy to use, very versatile, very forgiving, and is extremely loud. Thanks and happy picking.
I am currently running this head through an avatar 212 cab loaded with celestion G12T-75's and i couldn't be happier when you consider this setup cost me under $1000. The other guitarist in the band i play in uses a 6506+ run through a 412 Marshall 1960 lead cab and not only does the vypyr keep up but is way more versatile. cleans are great and more distortion than i will ever really need even though i play melodic death/black metal most of the time. for my lead tone i use the 6505 red channel with a little extra gain and crunch from the tube screamer function. sounds absolutely amazing and still completely clear. i'm using an ibanez rg with an emg 81x in the bridge though so that might be why it doesn't get muddy but either way you won't beat this amp for the price. i have gigged it a few times and it's traveled in the back of my truck wrapped in a blanket numerous times. never droppied it or anything but i have heard a lot of reliability complaints. had mine for over a year and never had any issues with it. great buy and i would definitely recommend it for the money.
