I have been playing guitar for 30 years, have owned and or used most every amp. This new Peavey amp is just an awesome piece of technology from top to bottom. This amp sounds astounding! it is extremely fun to play, it is very well built, nicely thought out and really, really powerful...I was very surprised just how much I liked this amp. I rate this amp a 9.5, I would have given it a 10 if it had included even a basic foot-switch. The optional foot-switch is pretty pricey. I would also like to have seen an external speaker jack. Fantastic Job Peavey!

I've owned this amp for about four months now. I purchased it at a Guitar Center that is about 45 miles from my home. I brought it home and it did not power on, so I drove back and exchanged it at GC for one that did work (90 miles round trip). (The GC employee even unboxed it for me and plugged it in to be sure it worked. Great customer service!). That replacement one worked great until about 10 days ago. I powered it on to practice, and...nothing, same as the first one that had been replaced. It's under warranty for 5 years if you register with Peavey (which I did), so it was repaired for free. But my options were to either ship it to Peavey for service (in Mississippi) or drive 65 miles to the nearest service location. I opted for the latter. So consider this, if you are going to purchase this amp. It sounds amazing, but I've driven 350 miles so far because of its poor quality. You may want to look into service locations before you buy.

The Best Amp I've Owned

By Adrien

from Albuquerque, NM

Comments about Peavey Vypyr 75 75W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

This Is the perfect amp for ANY style of music. Whether you play Jazz, Blues, Alternative or Heavy Metal like me, you will love it. I was having trouble choosing between this and a tube amp, but this was well worth it. I will be honest, if you want the pedalboard and warranties with it, it is SO worth it. the tone is perfect, solid, sustained, There are so many amp models to choose from so you make your guitar sound like its playing a Marshall, Line 6, or any other brand. The best thing i found with this amp, is that you can make YOUR sound the way YOU want it. It has 3 different banks that each contain 4 different presets so you can choose your presets to be ANYTHING If you are looking for a good gigging amp, or just to jam around with, THIS IS THE AMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!OH and Get the sanpera 1 or sanpera 2 footswitch, I got the sanpera 1 and its good enough if all you want to do is switch between presets.

Very Satisfied

By Rich

from Rockford, IL

Comments about Peavey Vypyr 75 75W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

A good variety of sounds from this amp. It is loud as other reviews indicate. I was tired of carrying around a Marshall 100W head and 4x12 cabinet. This 75W is perfect! No longer do I have to 'crank' my old Marshall to get a good sound and sustain. This Peavy does it at any volume level! And it is silent when no signals going through the amp. I like the analog back end of the amp. I have the Sampera II foot pedal and the only issue is the adjustment to activate alternate modes of the volume and wah pedals. I had to take the bottom panel off and adjust the set screws for them to work (almost retuned it, but then got brave and fixed it myself). That has been the only quality issue so far. I bought the 3 year replacement warranty, so I am not worried about total failure, unless I am at a gig! I would buy this amp again! I find the fact that it 'goes to 13' very funny. Rock on Spinal Tap (yours only go to 11)!!

GOOD AMP

By R.C.

from Pensacola, Florida

Comments about Peavey Vypyr 75 75W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I've been playing guitar for 25 years and played through many amps over those years. The modeling that this amp does is wonderful and the effects that are available from it are great. It is very user friendly and everything is at your fingertips (unlike some of the other amps I looked at prior to buying this one). It is clean and it will scream when it's needed....and everything in between. I do agree that a basic footswitch and external speaker jack are needed. I look forward to getting the Sanpera footswitch.

75w Vypyr=AMAZING!

By Brian S.

from Lafayette

Comments about Peavey Vypyr 75 75W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp is amazing! It has every effect i could dream of plus more. For starters, it is huge for a 75w amp and can easily play over a drum set. I have owned different types of amps such a marshall and fender and line 6 but none can even compare! This thing is powerful at one out of thirteen this amp can shake windows its a beast. It looks so small in the picture but this amp is the biggest 75w I've seen so far and the effects are so clean with a great tone. It is perfect for playing small gigs of about 450 people. If you ask me this amp is the way to go!

Who Says peavey Guitar Amps Suck ?

By Tommy S.

from Phila, PA.

Comments about Peavey Vypyr 75 75W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I don't get it ? Every Guitar Player I know say's Peavey Amps Suck ! Well guess what guys, Eat Your Hearts Out ! This is the best guitar amp I have heard to date ! This amp could literally do it all ! No need for stompboxes or rack effects here. This amps Stompbox effects sound true. The Distortions are analog, so you don't get that fuzzout breakup ! The amp Modeling is so good, you would swear your playing out of that amp itself. The Deluxe Modeler sound exactly like a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe ! I couldn't believe my ears ! Any guitarist in his right mind has just plain gotta be a jerk to knock this amp. Try it, I guarantee you'll buy it! The options are endless and it will take you about 6 months just to discover every sound this amp could make. With the Samperna 2 pedal, it will take you a year. It increases everything 100 fold! Im running an Agile 3100 Les Paul out of this amp and it sounds superb! Oh and could you say LOUD ? It's Super Loud. Iran it with the power sponge at 1/4 and the Master Volume on 1, and cement was still falling off my cellar walls ! This will fend in a medium setting and should be good up to 500 people in a hall or whatever. You could even download firmware off of peavey's website to add updates to the amp, so it's constantly getting improved ! I so far tryed it clean, clean with reverb and some chorus, and Overdriven straight up, with flange, and with reverb and some echo, and it's awesome ! No digital glitches or cheesy sounding patches or effects at all ! Everything is top Quality Sound ! I can only imagine what the Tube model in the 60 or 120 watt sounds like? I picked this instead of the Vox Valvetronix. I went to try the Vox, and it was Dead ! Right in the store! Peavey Rocks !

Amazing amplifier

By Mike Pearlman

from Vestal New York

Comments about Peavey Vypyr 75 75W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

i agree that the amp should have a pedal that comes with it, or at least have the sanpera pedals cost less, but either way this amp is great. ive only been playin about a year, but i looked at a lot of different amps before buying this one. people seem to buy the spider III without looking at this one, but this is the best modeling amp i have ever tried. the distortion sounds real, the clean channels sound perfect, all the thousands of effect combinations, and with the sanpera pedal it makes it the perfect amp.

Unreal

By Mike Nelson

from clifton, va

Comments about Peavey Vypyr 75 75W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

Playing for 30 years. Have all the usual amps. Old rig: Marshall DSL head, Line 6 pod xt pro, stereo power amp, assorted effects, lots of space needed on stage, a lot of setup time. New rig: Peavey Vypyr 75 and Sanpera II pedal. Able to get classic sounds like old ZZtop and 70s hard rock sounds with ease as well as any modern sound. I play everything from Led Zep, Stones, Heart, ZZtop, 80s hair metal, Metallica, to Dire straights. For gigging you MUST have the sanpera II foot pedal. Unreal copy of the amps modeled.

Amazing! Felt as though I stoled it for the price paid

By Bill

from Riverside, CA

Comments about Peavey Vypyr 75 75W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp sounds great! Effects are very good and the distortion is remarkable. Lots of gain. Cleans are pleasing and warm. The amp models just make you want to play and play. All the models are awesome. I like the twin and bcat models.Throw in the tubescrm stomp box and its just amazing how it sounds (to mention just a few choices). The rack FX section is cool as well. Pre/Post gain gets you the right volume and grit. All the knobs produce a wide range of tonal and voicing options. Reverb and delay are convincing as well. Go from clean to scream with a very low price!

Vypyr 75

By white les paul custom

Comments about Peavey Vypyr 75 75W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

In a nutshell, great realistic sounding amp models, tons of effects, easy to use interface. This amp is loud enough to blow your roof off! Definetly gig worthy. Cleans sound great, raunchy crunch sounds, and super high gain overdrive, and the distortion sounds realistic and organic. The power sponge allows the amp to sound like the power amp is breaking up at any volume. Waiting for the free pedal so i can control the looper. My only complaints are that its mainly open back and that the tuner is kind of touchy.

Impeccable amp

By Ivan

from el paso, texas

Comments about Peavey Vypyr 75 75W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

i've been playing guitar for about 6 years and decided to upgrade my amp. i bought this amp yesterday after reading up on it, researching and going into GC and playing it--i left with a smile because this thing is incredibly fun to play for hours on end. i love this amp because there are so many different styles that you can utilize so this amp is very customizable to your liking. the effects are cool as well. the power sponge is a great feature since it limits the amps power. in my room, i can't go more than about 5% of the amp's power and no more than the 2nd level because this thing is a beast and will shake the walls even so. it can easily play loud enough that you can hear it across the block and the great thing is that the integrity of the sound does not falter even at the loudest settings! the distortion is excellent and as are the clean tones which is great for death metal to blues. i would not trade this amp for anything and would be extremely irate if it got stolen... with my jackson dk2, this thing sounds impeccable, the price is good and i highly rate it so look no further. 5 stars hands down.

Comments about Peavey Vypyr 75 75W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp is just amazing. The red channels absolutly shred and the green is crystal clean. Granted I have only been playing for about 8 years the sound is incredible. There are so many effects you can make any sound you want. But I do recommend the footswitch to get the full fuction of the amp.

Comments about Peavey Vypyr 75 75W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I just got this for my birthday today and this amp is loud and can easily play over a drummer and even turned up to about 3-5 out of 13 on the volume is really loud!!!! It also sounds amazing, its a huge improvement off of my line 6 spider III and even has usb recording on it which i haven't gotten to yet but i'm sure it will be better sounding than my digitech rp250 or line 6 pocket pod.

Comments about Peavey Vypyr 75 75W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

My Line 6 30w recently stopped working on me. So instead of getting another line 6 that would have quit on me too, i went for the peavey vypyr 75w. Wow was i amazed at the sound this amp pumps out. I played numerous amps before i purchased one and this one had the most real sound of any modeling amp out there(including marshall). Go with the Peavey vypyr, you wont be dissapointed!

Fairly good but has defects

By Evan

from Seattle Washington

Comments about Peavey Vypyr 75 75W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I bought this amp last year in november and at first i thought it was the most amazing amp ever. Soon after that, in January, the amp stopped working. I took it in to the shop and they told me that a fuse broke and that alot of things inside the amp were of poor quality. He fixed it up for me but also discovered that the volume is the same at level five all the way up to level 10. Its an alright amp for beginners who dont play in a band. If you play in a band, save a little more money and get a nicer amp.

souds good but terrible quality

By C.J.

from Lancaster, California

Comments about Peavey Vypyr 75 75W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I bought this amp instead of the Marshall because it was cheaper, there is a reason for this. The amp is made from very cheap materials and has many electronics issues. The knobs break of easily and the amp detiriorates very quickly on the inside. My amp had to warm up for a good 20 minutes before i could plug in and play. Now my amp has completely died and will not make any noise. Every time i turn it off it makes a loud rapid thumping sound and wont make it's signature buzz that it makes when it's on.

Vyper Series -Value Oriented Flexibility

By Bryan K. Schiefen

from Overland Park, KS

Comments about Peavey Vypyr 75 75W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I have owned mine for nearly a year. This system was designed for a mid-tier hobbyist and/or low level active player and meets the challenge well. The flexibility provided by this amp is AWESOME. The system has a bad rap for locking up. Gang its simple...Follow Peavey's instructions to power on the amp without the guitar plugged in. Mine has never locked up when doing this. I HIGHLY recommend purchasing the Sanpera pedal with this amp. I just recently purchased the Sanpera II. It opens a whole new world. Due to the capabilities, you will find this amp/pedal modelling to be cumbersome at first (learning curve) but worth the efforts. High quality/ durability, extreme flexibility at a VALUE oriented price. I have several friends who have spent countless money to accomplish the same things this system does out of the box. You cant go wrong.
