When I first started to play guitar, I had an old Peavey 10W practice amp from the early 90's. I did some research and found that Peavey isn't that bad at making amps. In fact, they are really good. I decided to take advantage of Trade In Trade Up, and got this amp. I played it at the store and it sounded better than the Fender Frontman or the Line 6 Spider IV. I was impressed. I got a big discount from trading in the old amp and plugged it in as soon as I got home. Two of my neighbors called to ask what was going on. Man, that thing is loud. After about a week, I decided to read the instructions. There were soooooooo many more effects than I previously thought. It turns out that there are two "parameters" for EACH effect that you can edit. I went to town with all the effects and the delay/reverb. I spent the time to program all of the presets. I am still just blown away by this amp. One thing that annoys me is that it is hard to see the effects that are placed below the knobs. It is kind of awkward to lean over to see them, especially when you are holding a guitar. I sort of fixed this by putting the amp on top of the box. The box is really sturdy when you tape the top shut and put it on its side. Don't read any reviews that say that the amp didn't work. My best guess is that they were too impatient to learn how to use it. It really pays off to take the time to read the manual on the CD and figure out how to use it well. You wont regret it.

I went to guitar center and my friend Jay and i tested it out. he took his Les Paul and I took my SG. they sounded great on it with the effects. he bought one and i bought one. when we got home, we plugged them in. his worked. mine did not. they thing would not even light up. so now im stuck with this broken amp that i gotta take back and get a new one. if i were you, i would recommend getting the Line 6 Spider 15 watt. way better. and way better quality. i will admit though, the sound on that Peavey was amazing. they are just very low quality. i would also recommend getting a good warranty.

It still surprises me

By dayton latty

from Saginaw, Michigan

This was my very first amp. I really couldn't determine the quality of the amp when I first got it being my first amp but now, after playing through several amps over the last few years and owning a tube amp, I can honestly say I'm impressed. One: The amp is sturdy, I've lugged it here and there, used it as a coaster, knocked it, banged it, and most recently have been using it as a chair while I play; she holds up beautifully. Two: Her tone... has tone. It's not empty or flat or dull, It's not beautiful but Its certainly pleasant. Three: Versatile. The cleans are very clean, very nice. The distortion channel kinda sucks, a bit muddy and undefined, but the metal is pretty good from what I can tell. One thing people may not notice is the tube screamer effect. While the distortion channel sucks the tube screamer is absolutely wonderful. I actually wish I had the tone in a pedal form. Sounds great with humbucker, split, and single coil. The effects are all very usable. The delay works great and the pitch shifter is more usable than it may sound. Overall, A great buy. Would always recommend.

Beast of a practice Amp!!!!!

By Robert Smith _

from Dover, De

Let me start out by saying I researched a Line6,Fender Mustang 1 and the Vypr 15. The Vyper took the gold. It has more features then any of the other amps. It sounds better and looks cooler IMO. But it is a practice amp and thats what it does well. Some people have wrote reviews saying it could hold up in a band situation. I would have to say that the rest of the band would have to be playing out of 15 watt amplifiers and the drummer would have to be using an electronic kit on a 15 watt amplifier. Now as far as the amp models they are top notch. The distortion is crushing on any of the models and the cleans are prestine. The fact it has a built in tuner is also very nice. I really like the mp3 plug in it as well that was one of the things that sold me on this amp.

Good Amp, Great Price

By Bruce Dirden

from Frostburg, MD

Let me start by saying that I've owned three of these things. The first I gave to a buddy of mine that just needed a basic practice amp (he places a Blue Voodoo). He loved it. The second I bought to replace the gifted one. It lasted a few months but I eventually found that once you got the unit warmed up (about 10 min of playing) if I turned it off it would not turn right back on, always had to wait 15-20 minutes. Took it back under warranty and got a third one that's working fine (66% success rate). Now onto the functions. I am a Bassist that likes to jam a lil 6 string on occasion so I don't need much. I bought this so that I wouldn't have to tote my 210 Combo around. The Pros: Great if you're a beginner to guitar and don't really know exactly what sound you want. It allows you to find yourself without investing in tons of pedals or buying an amp you just dont like. Sure the amp modes aren't exact but they give you an idea of what the big boys will sound like. I use this while giving private drum lessons and it did a fine job cutting over the drums when sitting next to the throne but this is in NO WAY a stage amp, practice only. If you wanna rock a crowd, get something designed for the job. And sure it's a bit flimsy but for the money you can't expect a tank. The Cons: The tuner is a major pain. I typically use a clip on but sometimes I forget it. You have to be looking straight on at the front of the amp at less than 3 feet away to tune. Stand off to the side or too far back and you can't tell whats going on. Does the job in a pinch but don't plan on relying on it. Also, I prefer open back combos to have a lil board across the bottom out back so you can throw your cables in when you don't feel like packing a lot. This didn't have one. A short piece of 2x6 and a few screws later and problem solved, even seemed to bulk up the structure. Basically, I like it. For the price you can play with a pile of effects and different amp models to get an idea of what you do and don't like for when you step up to the serious players. It's loud enough for casual jamming with a fews buddies and if you drop it down a staircase you aren't out much, no crying over the remains of a busted AC15 ya know? So I say get one and don't expect a full stack and Joe Sat's tone and you'll be happy.

Pretty (Sic) AMP!

By Hunter Abernathy

from Indiana

I got this amp back in April.I waited 5 days so every day i waited I wanted it more and more. When it finally came I un-packaged it and plugged this baby in.I didn't know what to expect. My best friend had told me that I should get this in stead of a Line 6.So I took his word. When I put it on all the settings that I wanted?O boy did this thing sing.It had such a great amount of bottom end.Which I love since my favorite guitarists is Mick Thomson from SLIPKNOT.I love this thing. It has such a good tone.I would defiantly recommend it to any metal player no matter what kind of metal you play this thing is perfect!!!!A MUST HAVE!!!!!!!!

Your Ears Will Ring

By Nancy Markey

from Flint, Michigan

This little amp is awesome! I had this for almost 1 year, and i'm loving it. Its SUPER loud for a 15W amp, and it has lots of sound effects to choose from. If your playing this in your room, and you have it full blast it WILL make your ears ring when your done playing. Super awesome amp to get.

Tons of effects but no clean...

By Norman Carvalho

from Florida

Yes, this amp has tons of effects but for starters hardly anybody would actually use them all regularly and they're all way to intense and there's no way of adjusting their intensity. Effects are nice and everything but usually I like to play clean and this amp really cant handle that. The so called "clean channel" is pretty distorted which is pretty annoying. Finally the build quality is quite lacking and every time I touch a nob I fear it may break off. I got this because I wanted more effects than my Fender 15G could offer but I would take a 15G over this any day.

Great Amp For The Price

By Kendal Sims

from Castaic, California

I bought this amp on sale, and it has met and exceeded my expectations. It is being used as a practice amp, and it fills the house with sound. The only thing that bothered me was the initial power up setting from the factory is set loud and distorted. I set the power up setting with one that is clean, and I adjust from their. Great little amp.

Wonderful amp. One problem though.

By Jacob Ulery

from Gaylord, MI

This amp is amazing! Right down to the vintage amp styles this amp is wonderful. There's just one problem, when you play the amp for too long, it starts to make cracking noises. One problem i dread, but other than that its a great amp!

It goes up to 11!!!!!!!!!!!

By Jim Xavier

from Chelmsford MA

The best amp I could get for the money, or even 5 times the money for that matter. The only other amp with this range of effects is a Line 6 costing much much more. Buy it and you won't ever need another amp for practice.
