Best of both worlds!!!!

By Shawn Lackey

from Alabaster, Alabama

Comments about Peavey ValveKing 100 Head:

The first time I played any form of this amp was about four years ago at my church. They purchased the 1x12 combo version and like most people, when I saw Peavey, I didn't think that it was a very good amp. Boy was I wrong!!!! This amp can do it all. In the tilte I put "Best of both worlds" and it is just that. If you like Fender cleans, but a Marshall grit, then this is the amp for you. I just recently purchased this head and it is no different. I have been playing guitar for about 20 years and played a lot of different amps. This thing is unbelieveable. If you don't at least go into a guitar center and play this amp, you are missing out on what would be the best deal of your life. To me, this amp best fits Funk/Blues/Rock. If you are looking for an AWESOME!!! late 60's through early 80's rock amp, this is it.

By MICHAEL VIGIL

from L.A. CA

Comments about Peavey ValveKing 100 Head:

This is my second Peavey VK100 product. The first VK100 is a 212, which has is 5 years in the books. The 212 is so dependable, that I decided to buy the VK100 head. The VK100 head is paired to a Blackstar 212 Cab (wanted and got) a different tone. Features, which make the VK100 a great choise: Dependability, which include fixed bias, ability to change power tube(s) as needed; one at a time or all at once. Try the VK100.

BUY THIS RIGHT NOW!!!!

By Talbot Smith

from michigan

Comments about Peavey ValveKing 100 Head:

ive been playing for about 8 years now and finally just got my first stack with this head. let me tell you i was not disappointed. ive had some decent stuff but always wanted the drive of a tube amp but didnt have the money to buy one. i read reviews and looked at this one online for a while but my local gc never had it in stock to play it. well i called today and they had so iwent right up there, but the peavey cab that would come with sounded super muddy and i knew that couldnt be right. i bought anf brought it home and plugged into my early 80s crate cabinet with brand new celestion speakers that my buddy just GAVE ME!!! and this bad boy screams. clean channel is beautiful and with the right effects youll sound like a pro. the lead channel honestly doesnt need any help it kicks plenty of power out, and i play metalcore/ hardcore. but i do recommend to pick up an ibanez tube screamer because it will bring those tubes to life.

This head is a BEAST!

By Paul C

from southern california

Comments about Peavey ValveKing 100 Head:

I play alot of hardcore punk rock and metal so I needed an amp that could give me good distortion but still have that nice heavy low end and this thing gives me that and more! I personally don't like the sound of most distortion pedals so i'm very happy to not have to use one with this head because the lead channel on this thing is awesome! I haven't really played with the clean channel a whole lot but it seems to sound pretty good not mesa good because its half the price but pretty impressive .. If you like to play heavy riffs or punk rock buy this head you will not be disappointed!

SIMPLY AMAZING

By DRYSEASON

from Medford, OR

Comments about Peavey ValveKing 100 Head:

I bought this amp about a month ago. My guitarist has a 6505+ and I was looking for something similar. I have played through Mesa Boogie Dual Rec's, B-52 AT-100's, and Marshall JCM2000's. For the cost of this amp, and the power and drive and versatility in tone creation in this little monster, I finally found the dark, punchy tone I've been in search for ever since I started playing guitar. With so many options to control tone through the boost/gain/texture knobs in the overdrive channel, I spent alot of time dialing this beast in. Finally, the tone I found blends great with my other guitarists 6505+ All in all, this thing beats the pants off most amps I've played for my style of music! Peavey kicks butt!

valveking

By mike

from michigan

Comments about Peavey ValveKing 100 Head:

in my previous reveiw, I explained better than marshall tone. The speakers in my marshall 1960A cab is loaded with celestions. The valveking head with the marshall cabinet is a whole different animal. they are perfect together. and Yes you can do metal just fine, with this 6L6 tube amp. the valveking speakers have a whole different sound than the celestions GT12-75 speakers. two different sounds between my combo and my head through the marshall 1960A. so if you aren't happy with your sound swap out speakers. like i said this head blows my marshall JCM 2000 (DSL100 watt head) away . with plenty of volume to spare. awesome amp. If you run the VK head with celestions in the cab the sound is like the marshall on the highest gain setting, (BOOSTED) but with a blues driver out in front of it. and that is right from the factory. NO pedals needed..

You people don't get it!

By Nick BUD

from Creston, IA

Comments about Peavey ValveKing 100 Head:

It makes me sad when I see reviews about tube amps ('specially this one) and people are saying the natural distortion of the amp is good enough for any kind of metal... HA! People greatly misunderstand what kind of sound you can get with tube amps and PEDALS. I use a Zoom G2 multi effects and an Ibanez TS9 Tube screamer on the CLEAN channel of this amp, and it sounds just golden. The natural distortion of ANY amp is not good enough to satisfy the needs of todays metal guitarist, unless of course you shell out thousands for a Bogner, or Mesa. My point is, the NATURAL distortion of this amp SUCKS for metal, only use it if you're planning on playing a cover of the king of the hill theme song, for that it works quite nicely! But hey man, if you're going to buy this amp head, buy a friggen pedal with it! What you're paying for when you buy this amp is a more AFFORDABLE version of the Peavey 6505 amp, if features the same tubes found in the 6505.

Peavey Valveking

By mike

from morrice, mi

Comments about Peavey ValveKing 100 Head:

I own both the valveking head and 100 watt combo with 212 speakers. I bought the head for a backup for my marshall JCM 2000. once I got it home I liked it better than my marshall head. so I bought a used 212 combo for a backup for the valveking head, and for smaller gigs. great amp. with tons of gain. It sounds great without pedals.where my marshall needs pedals and is way overpriced. Guaranteed I wont buy another marshall. The valveking tops marshall on every level. Great amp
