Overview

With double the processing power, models and effects of competitive modeling amplifiers, the VYPYR dramatically redefines the power and scope of modern guitar amplification. VYPYR amplifiers are based on powerful 32-bit, floating-point SHARC processors that enable highly detailed, accurate modeling as well as vastly enhanced flexibility and features than ever before available in guitar amplification.

Featuring 24 amp channel models--both the clean and distorted channels of 12 popular amps for the first time anywhere--plus 11 editable preamp "stomp box" effects and 11 editable post-amp "rack" effects with dual-parameter control. Players can use up to five effects simultaneously. When used with the optional Peavey Sanpera foot controller, the possibilities further expand from 12 in-amp presets to 400 programmable presets, with an on-board looper and more. The VYPYR also acts as its own computer audio interface, with a built-in studio-quality USB 2.0 output on most models that is recognized by computers as an audio device. The entire six-model VYPYR Series features the easy-to-use Peavey WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) interface.

Let's start with the best first. The sound this little amp has is amazing. I know everyone is different, but the VT60 has that full, rich tube sound I was looking for. I'm not a bells and whistles kind of guy, but this amp can generate some very cool sounds, and the best part is it's easy. The controls are the most user friendly and intuitive set up I have seen. I'm looking forward to trying it out with the sampera II pedal. I won't argue that you can find a better sounding amp, but your gonna pay thousands for it. Bottom line, for the money you won't find a better sounding amp with as many features. I own a lot Peavey gear, and the quality and craftsmanship on these amps is tops!

I have owned this amp for about a year and a half now so I have experience with this amp opposed to some one who just bought the amp and is all hyped about it. First off let me say this is amp is very, VERY, cheaply made and I have had to have it fixed not only once but twice in a one year period. I am not a gigging musician I only play at home and this amp was treated with the best care you could have. The first problem I had with the amp was after I owned it for about 6 months, and I was trying to turn it on but and it was not making any sound what so ever so I had to take my amp to some shady part of town in east cleveland to have it repaired. After leaving it there I got a call 3 weeks later saying it was fixed and shouldnt have any more problems. Well when I get home to try it out immediately I noticed that all the amp settings have been changed on the module. For example the amp says its 6105 but its really the xxx amp. Anyways I ignored that slight issue for the only problem was I had to re-learn the diffrent amps. The second time it broke I was playing clean electric stuff at a very low volume with head phones in (the volume never goes past 2)and when I went to switch to distortion I encountered the same problem as before, no sound. The diffrence this time was I had sound in all the clean channels but none of the dirty or distorted. So after flipping my amp on and off I finally got distortion sound back but it was very, very weak. I am now fed up with this amp and am taking it to guitar center tomorow to trade in for something else that is less of a pain then this. The sound quality was good at first, but proggresively got worse as time went on. The cleans always sounded good and still do but the distortion is TERRIBLE. I would not recomend this if you play any types of hard rock or heavy metal unless the only song your playing is planet caravan. This amp has some very nice features on it, almost like a line 6, but a line 6 is much more durable and better sounding than this amp. The reason I got this in the first place was the man at the local shop recomended it and it is a good amp for the first 3 months but after that time period everything starts to go down the tubes. The only reason I am giving this 2 stars is the cleans sound very nice but that is it. The quality and reliability of this product is extremely low and I would not recomend this amp to anybody.

Decent amp..

By Jason

from St. Louis, Missouri

Comments about Peavey VYPYR Tube 60 60W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

The Peavey Vypyr is a decent amp. I bought mine a little over a year ago. Pros: It is easy to get around, it didn't take long at all to figure out how it worked, and how to tweak the settings. The "clean" settings on this amp are good, they have a nice sound. Cons: With distortion, it's incomprehensible at a high level of volume. I always seem to be stuck right between "too distorted" and "not distorted enough". Other than that. It is a good amp for intermediate players. I personally prefer a Line 6 over this.

Never buy another amp again!

By Trav Morton

Comments about Peavey VYPYR Tube 60 60W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp is the last amp that you will ever have to buy. You can get virtually any sound out of this amp. Plenty loud enough to gig with. This amp is 60 watts of pure freakin tube power, therefore, this thing is everything. This is my first tube amp, and unless something messes up with it, this will be the last amp that I will ever have to buy. The price isnt bad either. Win win situation. Dont take ny advice, just go and buy the thing. I can guarantee that you will not regret it.

Doesn't get better than this

By Sam S

from Marinette WI

Comments about Peavey VYPYR Tube 60 60W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

This thing is incredible. I wasn't expecting all that much for an amp (not to mention a tube amp) at this price range, but i was very pleasantly surprised. There's almost no sound you can't get out of this thing (assuming you have the proper guitar for the job). Anything from super heavy metal to light, crisp clean tones. My personal favorite is it's crunch sound. Although it can be tricky to find (hint: B-Kat amp + tube screamer) once you find it it's an instant love affair. The headphone sound is better than I had expected. Don't get me wrong, it's still much nicer to just crank the amp up and play normally, but some people don't have the luxury of doing that. Another note: THIS THING IS LOUD. I've used another 60w amp before, and this one has to be at least 50% louder. If I put the volume at 3, the whole house is shaking. At 13, I have a feeling my eardrums would pop. Cons? I don't really have anything bad to say so far. AT FIRST I didn't like the sound of a lot of the effects, but over time you come to realize that some effects just aren't made to go with some amp models ( or effects). Once you come to realize that, you begin to see how nice this amp really is. One final note: If you get this amp, get one of the Sanpera footpedals...JUST DO IT.

5 Stars for the Vypyr 60

By Al Blumensheid

from Marion

Comments about Peavey VYPYR Tube 60 60W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I tried the amp out in the store, and loved it. When I got it home, it sounded even better. The tuner puked on the first amp (floor model), so I brought it back to GC and they quickly got me another one, no questions asked. The new one took a little while for the tubes to break in and the speaker to soften up. Iۡve been a guitarist for 40 years and have played on just about every kind of amp you can imagine. Trust me, you wonۡt be disappointed with the Vypyr 60ۡ_itۡs a keeper. Be prepared to get a good workout, because this thing is HEAVY! I also bought the 2 year full replacement since itۡs a new breed of amp from Peavey. I highly recommend you buy it from a dealer like Guitar Center, just in case something goes wrong with it.

Cant handle loud volumes

By The Dr.

from Mich

Comments about Peavey VYPYR Tube 60 60W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I really wanted too buy the Peavey over the Spider Valve as the price is near half but my goodness the only decent amp models were the 5150 and a couple cleans and the effects completely sucked the tube tone right out of it at anything over 1/4 master volume. I dont know what stock speaker is in it but it was muddy, lost and undefined in comparison too their competitor tube modeler amp by Line6 and Bogner The Spider Valve MKII. I wonder if the Peavey Windsor power amp that I assume is used in the TubeV's is the best choice. Very un tube like imo and Ive owned and played lots of Tube Traynors,Marshalls,Boogie,Peavey,Fender,etc....

Everything you'll ever need!

By Aaron

Comments about Peavey VYPYR Tube 60 60W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I upgraded from a vypyr 30(which I thought was AMAZING) to this and i gotta say, it was veeeery well worth the investment. The usb interface was worth it alone, not to mention the tubes and the speaker out. I dont think there is sound that you cant get out of this amp. the cleans can be as bright or as milky as you want them to be, and the distortion can be as insane or mellow as u like it. the analog effects sound amazing, the digital ones are not as good but still great. bottom line GET THIS AMP!!!

Comments about Peavey VYPYR Tube 60 60W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

This is a pretty cool amp, but i do kinda have a hard time dialing in the settings. If i want to play a certain song, it takes me a while to get a solid tone. Overall though, it is a trustworthy amp and sounds alive. The tubes take over the sound and make each persons style of playing stand out like it should. Blew all my b-day money on this thing, but it was worth it.
