Overview

The Peavey Tour 700 Bass Amp Head offers tons of power plus extensive tone-shaping tools, such as bright and low-cut switches, active high and low shelving controls, a contour control, and a 9-band graphic EQ configured to target critical bass frequencies. Its also includes a Peavey-exclusive sub-harmonic generator with level control and footswitchable bypass that adds a note one octave lower than the original note, creating interesting harmonic textures and a significantly enriched bottom end.

The Tour 700 delivers 700W RMS into 4 ohms. SmartRail technology, a new patented Peavey power-amp topology, makes it possible for the Tour Series to deliver its massive dynamic power with increased efficiency and lighter weight.

In addition, the XLR-equipped direct out allows traditional patching to a front-of-house or studio mixer, but features fail-safe phantom power backup that sends a flat signal through the house P.A. or studio console.

I have auditioned about every brand of bass head out there and I would have to say when I purchased this head I would say that I was overly joyed at the array of sound optioned available. From the 9 band equalizer that has a very impressive 15 db cut and boost and the notch filter that if you cant find a tone you like with this head then you are not trying. I have played active and passive basses of various brands and even played double basses through this thing and every time I was able to find good tone. I am using the tvx 410 and tvx 15 cabs with this unit and they sound awesome with this amp even though the cabs are very heavey. very dynamic power and can cut through under very extreme conditions when your guitar player is cranked. In my opinion you would have to spend thousands to find something that would be better.

Don't be fooled by the name, This is JUNK. I only got this because I wanted some new, good looking stuff for live shows. After 6 months the 1x15, 2x10, and the 4x10 cabs all blew. After 8 months the head cuts out after 15 mins of playing. Let it cool down and you get another 5 to 10 mins. I returned it and replaced it with a new one and it took 2 days for that one to do the same thing. I've been playing bass for 15 years and have never had this kind of trouble with any other amp head. Stick with Ampeg, Markbass or Line 6. Never had anything go wrong with those. If you do get it get the full warranty, you'll need it.

Power to the Bassist!

By Gary P.

Comments about Peavey Tour 700 Bass Amp Head:

This amp when matched with the cabinets designed for it to operate with is magnificent! The only problem I've found is that fresh out of the box,the power cord wants to vibrate away from the power plug socket in the head itself. The tone, power and presence are dreamland. The first time I played it, was an outdoor party,I was impressed.I never had that type of tone and power at an outdoor venue.

Peavey Tour 700 Bass Amp Head

By Rod

Comments about Peavey Tour 700 Bass Amp Head:

I am extremely happy with this head. More clean power than I will ever need. I have played outside gigs where I use 2, 15" cabinets with the volume set only about half way. Great bottom, distortion free! In the same price range I tried a SWR working pro 400, The SWR sounded good but fell short on power. For indoor gigs I use a Acoustic 15" cabinet, massive clean bottom end!

Comments about Peavey Tour 700 Bass Amp Head:

A very solid bass head. Decent Power. Not an over abundance of bells & whistles which is nice. Straight forward Peavey sound, quality and durability. I've played most all of the other popular heads and your not going to beat this head for the price. Very Satisfied.

Doesn't give up quality for price

By Carlos Lopez

from Portland, OR

Comments about Peavey Tour 700 Bass Amp Head:

We were looking for a head that wasn't too expensive and that still had great sound. Well, we came across this great bass head and we were sold... wait it was sold. We tried it out in the store, and it was pretty good, I wouldn't say that ultimate professionals should settle for this though. Let's get honest, but I give this one a five because we are still playing it as if it were still new after two years. Hey! If you still are doubting, go check it out! This one doesn't give up quality for price; it's pretty affordable!

Comments about Peavey Tour 700 Bass Amp Head:

I used this for practice and this thing is loud and is still great sounding. I played it through a behringer and it still sounded amazing. I love the gain setting on this, and it also tells you when its clipping, which is really helpful. The eq also really helps shape your sound as well.

SO GOOD!!!!

By WES PREMOE

from Snoqualmie, WA

Comments about Peavey Tour 700 Bass Amp Head:

I have had this head for almost 4 years now and I must say I have no regrets. This thing booms! It has amazing amounts of volume as well as tone, especially for being solid state and low in price. The 8 band EQ and the on-board Octaver have proven useful for multiple genres of music to add spice and detail to the bass sound. I dropped this thing on concrete from about 4 feet and only bent the corner. No real damage! Constant movement and rough handling makes me say that this head is fantastically durable. Never had power chord issues before and Ive never had an issue with it blowing my cabs even when playing loud at band practices or club shows. This head is honestly a steal for any bassist looking for some solid tone and a lot of power.

Peavey?

By T. H. Kruse

from Midwest

Comments about Peavey Tour 700 Bass Amp Head:

I bought a tour series 700 for use in small clubs and was very disappointed, I had to run both gains to 7 to keep up with the drummer, we are a blues band...not playing all that loud. The last straw was seeing made in China on the rear panel. Peavey was an American icon, I guess that was the past.
