I bought one of the PV2600 power amps two yrs ago and I'll never recommend this thing to anyone. First time I tried to use it everything coming out sounded like it was out of phase....checked wiring...checked inner-cabinet wiring...everything was good...turned it off...used another amp in rack! Came back to check after gig...powered up and worked no problem! Tried again on next gig...everything was distorted...then puffed smoke and shut off! Used another amp(My faithful but old Crown)! Called my service plan...they said take it to G.C....took it to G.C. they said mail it to Peavey! It's on ebay now! Don't buy....junk-in-a-box!

Cons

I have used the amp for PA mains for 11 years. No problems ! It has been in the band trailer all winter and all summer in IA year after year.
That is some harsh weather to survive and still function.

When it is pulled out and plugged its performance is flawless. Hot or cold it rocks. I will purchase another one in a minute if this one fails. The sound out front is amazing. What more can you ask of an amp? It is heavy in weight but it is a proven work horse. BUY ONE !!!

This is the second one I bought. The first is ten years old and has done a ton of DJ work for me...NEVER a problem! The old one will still be used in a bi-amp configuration to enhance my bass bin.

This amp has produced in bad weather outdoors, used at river parties and huge company outdoor picnics and it still sounds as good as the day I got it. I am pumped to have two!

The amp is not quite as thumpy as a CS series but great for the price...

    Plenty for my needs

    By Thunda

Been using Peavey products for over 30 years. This is not CS quality, but comes very close at a more comfortable price.
I use one to power a pair of EV Eliminator i subs. We play medium sized gigs, loud classic to modern rock. These subs powered by the 2600 have plenty of thump. Paired with SP 5's pole mounted over the subs we have great sound. The low cut filters, the built in crossover and DDT compression are fab features not found in other amps at this price point. Versatile input and output options.
the ability to daisy chain to other amps is a plus as well.
great build, durable. mounted in skb rack case I have had no problems.
lots of power for the money, twice the output of my old school cs800's at half the weight. two years of solid gigging at wide open power settings with no hiccups. i got a great deal on mine by haggling a bit. don't pay retail, it's a bit over priced, but still Peavey quality.

    Good amp for medium setups

    By Rocker4God-FEL.-

    from So Cal

I purchased 2 of these to replace some old Mackie amps and now use them for monitors only. If you read the manual closely these amps have no power rating for bridged operation at a 4 or 2 ohm load, only 8 ohms, but there is no real warning not to use it this way. I only found out through a user forum how this works. It turns out these are class H and do not have the circuitry built in to allow it to handle the lower impedances. This is not the amp's fault, I just assumed they would handle the load like the Mackies. When you run them with the correct speaker impedance they sound great. They are powerful & have a lot of features to help you tailor them to your configuration. I just wish the manual would have had more emphasis on this limitation; without knowing this I ran some subs bridged & had major clipping & distortion without knowing why until I realized what the problem was.

    used and abused

    By EoDyv7jmV

I have used this amp for a year and a half now. In the heat outside gigs and frozen in the garage. Its never failed me. Its got good power to. It does clip alot with the lows, but not when my cross over is at about 120. I use it live every weekend and some dj gigs. If you have the money get the 3800 over all good amp.

    Awesome power !

    By Berkyolboy

    from Fresno, Ca.

This power amp has everything I wanted, lots of power to drive 2 single 18" Peavey Low Rider Subwoofer cabinets (1 per side at 550w @8ohm) or I can add a full range speaker on each side using the built in 150hz crossover and run all 4 speakers at 900w @ 4ohm. The back panel lets you use the amp in many different configurations. You can run a thru signal and add more amps if need be. All in all it is the best amp for the money, hands down, anywhere.

    Peavey Power Amps Are Reliable

    By SoundMan-NqgBi

    from Central Illinois

I run sound for bands in the Midwest and I own 12 of the PV2600 amps that I purchased three years ago. I use these amps on the mains and CS4080 amos for the subs. The only time I ever had a problem with any of them was when one of my guys hooked up a speaker improperly. The amp was fine the next day, and I have never had to have any of them serviced at all. These amps give you a great bang for the buck.

I own four of the Peavey 2600 Power Amps. I play music as a hobby. One I have sent to be repaired for the third or fourth time. I just sent another one back today to be repaired. I will never buy another Peavey Power Amp.
