This Sub Rocks And Is A Great Value!

By DJ Krazy Keith

from Howell, MI

Comments about Peavey PV 118 Single 18" Subwoofer:

I did blow the crossover out on my first one after almost a year of abuse. But I bought another one and am in the process of getting the crossover replaced. Either way for 250 bucks you can't beat the bass that this thing puts out! Every bar or banquet room that I do pounds, with any type of music I play! You need to forget about those expensive subs and just get the cheap Peavey sub! You need nothing more than what this produces! I can't wait to run 2 subs for my big shows, it's gonna be amazing! My other peavey PR speakers are amazing too...Go on a nice vacation instead of spending that extra money on mackies that aren't even the same quality that they used to be but are the same price!

More Boom for Your Buck

By Frank Morales

from San Antonio, TX

Comments about Peavey PV 118 Single 18" Subwoofer:

I decided to go with these for price as I had no experience with subs before. Internal crossover handles just fine, great bottom end, and plenty loud. At the medium-sized venues we play, we're normally asked to turn it down. Great value subs.

Worth it

By Steve Scellick

from Ellensburg Wa

Comments about Peavey PV 118 Single 18" Subwoofer:

I havenۡt worked as a mobile DJ for 7 or 8 years but I still use my system for community events. I will play for family weddings and as well as provide music at some school activities. I Decided that I needed to upgrade my sub. I bought these Peavey subs because I donۡt make any money playing anymore so I didnۡt want to spend a lot......but I need something that would bang. I run 2 cabs in parallel, bridged from my QSC 1450 and they rocked. I tried them outside and am very very pleased. Donۡt have a lot of money but need some bass...these cabs work. You can buy bigger and better but for the money the PV118 is a small workhorse.

good sub

By SIR DJ

from Portales NM

Comments about Peavey PV 118 Single 18" Subwoofer:

I bought two of these subs as a last min resort. One was acting up so I took it back and kept the other. I works great! I have a 1200w amp pushing it about halfway and love the low response. not the best sub ive heard, but for the price, tough to beat. I recommend it highly!

Bottom Line

By Tha SpecialisT DJ MellY

from Philadelphia, PA

Comments about Peavey PV 118 Single 18" Subwoofer:

You really can't ask for more. I got two of these and they kick very hard. The only thing you really have to worry about is making sure you put the right amp behind them. I like to be different. Everybody goes and get the JBL, Mackie, EV's etc. I'm not saying something is wrong with those but their are brands out there like Peavey that produces good equipment like these sub. For the price you really can't go wrong. Good quality, good sound and good price. Bottom Line.

By John

from houston tx

Comments about Peavey PV 118 Single 18" Subwoofer:

I have two of these subs with a qsc gx5 amp, and crossover/sonic maximizer unit and they bang hard!I dj'd a house party for a friend and neighbors called the cops several times until i finally was forced to lower volume so the party could continue.Definately serious BANG for your buck. They are a trusted name and solid workhorse.I will probably get another pair to be able to dj a prom which on average is a thousand people or more.

Try it for bass !

By Jammie Lile

from Portland Oregon

Comments about Peavey PV 118 Single 18" Subwoofer:

Back in the day, Peavey made a bass cabinet with an 18 and 2 10's in one cabinet. Called an "1820" It was solid and sounded good. Can't get 'em anymore. I bought this sub to throw below my Hartke 410 cabinet, and I use a Gallien Krueger 1001rb amp. BOOM! I love it. Nice punch that you can feel. That's what bass is about.............feeling it. Over the years, we've all gone away from the 18 cabinet as bass players. Why? Because in the 80's, synthesized music wimped us out, and we all carried big mains to carry the load. Well, now we're older, and don't carry the "big setup" anymore. Time to get back some boom! This works really well for bassists and bands that still wanna have some bottom end. Try it for yourself. Really!

Superior Sound at an affordable price

By DJ Joeboy

from San Diego, CA

Comments about Peavey PV 118 Single 18" Subwoofer:

The Peavey PV 118 18" Subwoofer really thumps! The first time I used it was on 12/30/07 at a wedding reception I did up in Riverside, CA at the Mission Inn Hotel. I bought the sub just 4 days prior. I wasn't ready to spend so much for JBL's, QSC's, etc. I used my Carvin amp (bridged) @ 8ohms. I used a Behringer crossover and when I tuned it just right according to what they recommended. I was amazed with what this light weight thing was putting out and I only bought one?! I went out to the lobby and I couldn't believe how loud it was and that was 3 floors down. This thing pounds! I couldn't believe the price but because of the other reviews presented..I'm a believer now and it's true what everyone has said. If you are on a budget and don't want to carry too heavy but still get loud bass, then these are the ones for you! -San Marcos, CA

Good Sound

By Ryan

from Houston, Texas

Comments about Peavey PV 118 Single 18" Subwoofer:

This sub has a good sound but can only seem to take 80 to 100 Hz comfortably. I do like this sub as it goes with the other one that I have and I have PV215's for the tops.

Great subs for the price

By David Koff

from USA, VA

Comments about Peavey PV 118 Single 18" Subwoofer:

I bought two of these a few months ago to use at my church and they have worked great. The internal crossover network within these subs works good and eliminates the need for an external crossover network. Unless of course you are looking for a HEAVY thump these subs could provide, then the ECN may be better for you. But just to add some extra depth and moderate bottom end to your performance these sound great with their own internal components. I would recommend these subs for a budget minded purchase.

GREAT DEAL

By Dj FOUR

from dallas texas

Comments about Peavey PV 118 Single 18" Subwoofer:

I am a part time mobile Dj and wanted to add some low end to my 15in active THUMPS. Since I don't do this all the time I didn't want to drop 600 bucks on a sub that will only leave the house a few times a year. Plus since I upgraded my full range speakers I had a QSC 850 collecting dust so I bridged the amp to 600watts rms @ Ohms (use a crossover) and WOW this thing really hit and I know this isn't much amp. Like other reviews I have heard some deeper subs but we are talking only spending 200 dollars ( I purchased the display). I just did a party on NYE and pounded my little system for fours hours with no problems. I was even asked twice to turn it down and the room could hold about 250 people. I would recommend this sub to anyone, esp. if you are on a budget. Well worth the money. You spend much more and not get better sound.

Great value

By Luke Ozanich

from north ridgeville, ohio

Comments about Peavey PV 118 Single 18" Subwoofer:

These subs sound very good for the money. I don't know why there is a built in crossover. It does not work the way you would think it should. If you run from the sub to a 2 way cab, you will get a full range signal into your 2 way cab. Get an external crossover and you will be amazed at how good they sound for the price.

A Good, Cheap Bass Guitar Cab!

By Clay

from Easton, Md.

Comments about Peavey PV 118 Single 18" Subwoofer:

I've always loved the sound of an 18" speaker for bass; the massive low end really appeals to me. But few companies make them, so I thought about a sub cab. Though inexpensive, this cab takes all my SWR 350X head can push and stays very clean with a surprisingly nice high end. Bypassing the internal crossover is simple and does help the overall tone. Of course with the 18" you have to stand a bit away from it to get the full effect, but you get a nice full tone with thunderous bottom. A single 15" or 2-10" also works well with this cab. The speaker has fast response and doesn't get flubby. This is a real bargain for a good bass guitar cab.

Bang for buck THUMP

By DJ Malarky

from Albuquerque, New Mexico

Comments about Peavey PV 118 Single 18" Subwoofer:

As a mobile dj with well over 20 years experience, I have had the need to incorporate subwoofers for some situations. I have also used several brands in the past. I have been fortunate everytime however, for the money...well all I can say is boy oh boy Peavey baby Peavey. For that just right Thump you are looking for at a great price point these are the ones. Great design with a rock solid build. Pole mount on top just incase. The sub itself has a very nice punch without distortion at loud volumes. I highly reccomend these to any mobile dj!!! Purchase and enjoy lol.
