Comments about Peavey PV 10 USB Mixer:

So I bought this nice piece of machinery, and opened it up, I like the sleek look, and the sliders feel really nice, not to loose, and not to tight. The only thing that disappointed me, was that there was no USB cable with it. So I went out and bought one opened up my recording program...and Bam it worked I didn't have to configure anything (i'm running XP so Vista users might have it more difficult). I am truly amazed at the price and quality of this product

Reference Quality

Comments about Peavey PV 10 USB Mixer:

So it says right on the box that the mic pres are "reference quality." They sound pretty good for a small venue, but recording gives off a loud hiss and fuzz (could possibly be the compatibility with the USB connections). Nice solid construction and feel though so I would suggest only using this for live gigs. And the price was really easy on the wallet.

Great for practice and live

Comments about Peavey PV 10 USB Mixer:

I bought this for our band's rehearsal space. Was actually going to get the comparable Mackie board but couldn't find it in stock. But I have been more than happy with this one. I use it in conjunction with Mackie 450 powered speakers. Then last night we played a smaller gig where we had to bring our own system. I added a Crest powered sub to the set up and some powered monitors. I even used the onboard fx for vocal reverb. This little guy handled really well. The pre-amps sounded good and quite. The construction really good for the price. I just threw it in the back of the truck with the rest of the gear and not a scratch or dent. For the price this bad boy is worth the money for smaller gigs and practice.

Nice piece of gear

Comments about Peavey PV 10 USB Mixer:

The PV 10 USB works great for my home recording setup. I am still exploring all the many analog and digital audio features of this device. The USB port connected up fine to my Linux based computer system and provides two input / output channels to/from the DAW. The computer outputs can be configured to drive any/all of the mixer outputs including headphones, control room, monitors, and master. Nice for review and overdubbing. The only limitation I have found so far: There are NOT two independent, selectable audio buses inside the device. The two channels presented to the computer are Left and Right of a stereo pair. All the mono inputs appear with equal volume on the two channels with "pan" in the center. The only way to separate your mono input into one channel or the other is to use the "pan" control (might be called "balance" on another system). There seems to be a little bleed through between the channels when you use this method. If I could add something to the PV-10 it would be a channel (or bus) selector with three positions: 1, 2 or both. Or if the pan control "clicked" into mono when turned all the way to the appropriate side, that would work. Examples: Say you are trying to record guitar on one input channel and vocals on another: You have to pan one input all the way to the left and the other all the way to the right. Then you can patch the appropriate channels into your DAW for recording the tracks. Say you want to overdub a solo onto something already recorded. You might need to be careful about what input(s) you select and where you put the "pan" setting. I'd prefer to record in mono and turn the mono back to stereo inside the DAW. This is unlike other USB recording devices I have used. But then they can't do much more than sample the audio and get it in/out of your computer.
