I have been building a Karaoke System. One day I went to my Local Guitar Center, and I asked the sales person to demo some Speakers. We listened to lesser priced and high end. I kept on coming back to the Peavey PR-15's. I bought a pair and everyone at my small out door Karaoke parties say that they like my speakers. For under $500.00 one cannot go wrong with Peavey PR-15's as primary main speakers. Couple them to a Peavey IPR-1600 amp and a Behringer 1202fx mixer. I still use a CD+G karaoke player. Also lets not forget My Electro-Voice Cobalt 9 microphones. This made a nice system. Thank you Guitar Center.
Had a couple of Yamaha speakers to go with my Yamaha amp/mixer, that were just too heavy to lug around. Guitar Center took them back and I got these Peavy's instead. Love them. Sound great and the weight is no longer an issue. Guitar Center has been great.
I bought this speakers to beef up my monitor system they are awesome the only problem is that when i put too much low the jacks pop out so i only run highs and mids and push lows through my subs they are great!!!
First of let me say there is NO WAY these way 42lbs. more like 12-20lbs each. I move them around all the time. My tiny fiance can even move them and she cant lift anything! I use these speakers literally every day. These speakers are loud and crisp. Also they have so much bass frequency I almost dont need a subwoofer. They project very well in any room. I also would advise that you get them for any small to medium sized venue.
They are light, they sound great, and they are worth it,i purchase a pair of this few months ago,the sound is great, like every pa equipment, watch out for your eq's too much high frequency can ruined any piece of pro pa speakers, not to mention amplifiers, anyway,i used these babys with a pv 900 amplifier and the dbx signal speaker prosessor and boom!clear highs, low deep bass, and with the help of my sub, powered with a crown xls 202(at bridge mode)it was enough head room for 170+ people!
When I tell you these things did the job, I mean THESE THINGS DID THE JOB!!!! We had some cheap no name brand speakers for about 5 years now and it was time that we got some new speakers. These things where amazing lite, clear and boy did they have a little bass kick in them. I love them and wouldn't turn back on them. Plan on buying two more. Perfect for school dances, Bday parties, and even bang them in the house for a bit. If you are looking for a pair and want them nice and clear these are the ones to get. Plus the price is GREAT!!!!
I use these for all my mobile DJ Gigs. Excellent bass. If your gig is not rap or hip-hop heavy, you don't even need a sub in most rooms. Awesome for vocalists. My karaoke junkies love them.
The speakers sounded great, I did have a problem with the plastic cabinet shaking so much that the speaker cables would disconnect on their own. After calling Peavey directly, they suggested that I get the PV115 instead since those have a wooden cabinet and would handle the vibration better than the PV15's. Just something to consider if your going to be using a high power amp & playing music with lot's of low end bass.
I own the Peavey PR 12's & they sounded great. When I decided that I needed to get a back up set of speakers, I went for the PR 15's. They sound amazing. They are also light as a feather. The strange problem I did have was when I played a song with some bass, The back of the speaker cabinet shook so much, It would acually spit out the speaker cable. I'm returning these in order to get a replacement pair, Hopefully I just came across a bad batch.
I bought these for my DJ business and I am not sorry that I did-very lightweight but they sound awesome! I use these with a QSC GX5 AMP-these handle everything without a single problem.
