Peavey has always been known for fine quality in their products and the Peavey Millennium BXP is no exception to that. The look of the bass is eye catching, and gets alot of attention from people when they see it. But its the sounds that catches more attention from the masses, the low B string on this axe after some adjustments is remarkably clear, and the string spacing is quite comfortable. The BXP is has good sound, and for not having active pickups it produce alot of sound. The only drawbacks i have for this bass is the fretboard only has 20 frets, I personaly like playing the up in the higher registers sometimes, but for the most part 20 frets will suite most players. The tone control knobs, did very little for me, but the big sound of the bass was good enough for what i was looking for so i didn't need to use them much. So overall this bass is a great deal, and I recommend it for anyone looking for an affordable 5-string!

This bass constantly goes out of tune and it is impossible to re-tune as the tuning keys are so imprecise due to the gear ratio. also, the strings stick in the nut. As you tune it, the strings then slide loose from the nut and you are flat again. The low B is very muddy and just does not have a very good sound to it. However, The other four strings are bright, clear and sound very good when it stays it tune which is almost never. I think I will be selling mine soon for the Fender Jazz five string I was going to buy. I don't understand. I have 20 year old Peavey TNT 100 amp that sounds as good as the day I bought it, but this product is not worthy of the Peavey name. I hope you take this review into consideration before you buy.

Comments about Peavey Millennium BXP 5-String Bass Guitar Quilt Top:

Needed another fretted 5 string bass to round out the collection and what better than a low cost Peavey that also gives great value. I had one small problem with the machine tuning head for the E string, compounded by the fact I had just moved and could not find my receipt. I called Peavey and spoke with a wonderful lady in their parts dept. She cut through the red tape and sent me a replacement right away. GREAT customer service!! I have owned many Peavey products in the years I have been playing, and they tend to be the equipment that remain in the line-up for years and years. They have a well deserved reputation for quality and durability. This bass is a great, fun, workhorse that plays well, and as noted in other reviews, has a great sound also. (Wouldn't be worth having otherwise).

Comments about Peavey Millennium BXP 5-String Bass Guitar Quilt Top:

I do not see how anyone can have anything negative to say about this bass! Alot of folks think for a bass to be a good bass you need to spend thousands, not the case with Peavey! This is by far the best value of any 5-stringer out there! I own one and i've played other high end basses that don't come close! The bottom end is phenomenal! I definitely recommend this bass!

Comments about Peavey Millennium BXP 5-String Bass Guitar Quilt Top:

I actually got this bass from donating a sound board to a church and they gave me this bass as a thank you as they didn't use it. I just put it aside as I already have a high end Ibanez 4 string that I play all the time at my church. The other night just for kicks I got it out, took it to church just to see what a bass at this price sounded like. Boy did my uppity nose get bent. This bass sounded fantastic! Great clear tone. Very tight low b. Good balance. All in all, one of the best basses I've ever played.A little buz when only using one pickup, but every jazz bass I've played did the same thing,so big deal. The top is probably just a photo laminate or a very thin veneer. The rest of the musicians were really impressed when I told them what it was. Just goes to show that even an old musicians can still learn a new trick or two! I'll certainly be using it this Sunday.

Comments about Peavey Millennium BXP 5-String Bass Guitar Quilt Top:

The bass is solid with a very nice quilt veneer finish. It is boutique lightweight( mine is a shade over 8 lbs.)Very well balanced and the string through bridge really helps sustain.Pickups are fair to good with traditional J Bass layout and tone. They are pretty noisy when one pickup is used at a higher setting than the other.I would highly recommend a professional setup and a change of strings. I strung this with D'Darrio steel strings 45-125 with a taperwound low B which helped the tone a lot. The nut needed to be lowered quite a bit. and a high fret needed to be leveled. The rest of the fret and neck work is quite good with no sharp edges(a common problem with instruments at this price point). The neck contour and string spacing is on the thin side and very comfortable.Overall a good bass with the right setup.

Comments about Peavey Millennium BXP 5-String Bass Guitar Quilt Top:

Needed another five string to play while my Carvin LB75 is benched for repairs, (again). I got the Peavey because of their reputation for reliable, solidly built equipment. I was not disappointed, that's what I received. Out of the box it was good enough to play a gig with, so I did. After that I did a little(very little) adjustment to the bridge and all was well. Nice lightweight bass that doesn't kill my back over a 41/2 hour gig. Now using it all the time, alongside my fretless four string Rouge (which I also bought from Musician's Friend), my P-bass, and my Michael Kelly Dragonfly fretless five string. The Peavey is my go-to bass at this point. Thank you for a quility bass at a low price.

Comments about Peavey Millennium BXP 5-String Bass Guitar Quilt Top:

This was my first 5-string bass and I still use it as my back up. My main axe is an Ibanez SR755, which suits my hands better (a bit smaller than average), but all-in-all, if you're looking to spend less than $300 on a 5-string, this is one of the best out there. I gave it 5 stars because while it's definitely not the best bass out there, it's for sure worth the price.

Comments about Peavey Millennium BXP 5-String Bass Guitar Quilt Top:

This bass impresses me. Of course, it isn't a Richenbacher, but, for the price, it seems to have quite a bit of punch, and plays really easily. Action is outstanding. I look for this bass to be an excellent addition to my stable, and plan on using it for a number of years, especially when i want to put out some deep tones. They come through really clearly. ( I retuned a little alternative.. A E A D G instead of the standard B, and i don't need the octaver that way. Haven't found one yet that can handle the 0 octave, but, this gets down to A1 with no problem at all. The thing is incredible when running off my GK stack... it will rumble your bones.

Comments about Peavey Millennium BXP 5-String Bass Guitar Quilt Top:

            Seems like
This bass is about what I expected. A good quality instrument, it has faster action than I thought it would, and is a welcome addition to my stable. I needed a 5 string, and this seemed to fit the bill. It sounds really good with my GK amp and cabs... and the low range (tuned B-E-A-D-G) can translate well enough for my octaver to pick up, even at B1. Lowest reaction I could get was at D0, which is excellent. This is by no means intended as a primary instrument, but an addition to expand what I do. For that, it does the job. The only problem: I have to carry it in a gig bag, because I haven't been able to find a hard case to transport it. I hope that it holds up. (Peavey doesn't even make one to fit...)

Have tried other basses and nothing comes close to the ease of play & sound. I'm really comfortable with & love this bass and have no desire to buy any other at any bass.
Millenium BPX 5 string in tranparent black
Don't use active controls, these passive controls are perfect to me. Very good low action. The most playable bass I've ever tried.
Had problems with the cord jack loosening up at first until I started wrapping the cable through the strap. No more problems. It is amazing how well it stays in tune. Occasionally I check just to make sure & it is always dead on.
I think this is one of the best bass guitars at ANY price.
