Wow. I got this amp a year ago and nothing's gone wrong with it. I use it all the time to play with at home, the CD line in and Head phone jack is very nice. It has enough of an EQ to mess around with. The different voicings are nice and the tone difference is noticable, but when turned up not much really changes. I actually bring this to my band's practice. There's another guitarist with a ~150W Peavey and a moderate drummer. I turn the volume all the way up and I can sort of hear myself. It gets all distorted, but that'll happen on almost any amp this size turned up all the way. I played today for three hours straight without turning off the amp in 90+ degree weather at full blast with my band. Amp still works. I do this all the time, atleast twice a week, only it's not always so hot. But none the less, this is a practice amp. Great for home practice, solo or with an equal size guitar amp. But if your drummer isn't too loud, then this might work if you like distortion. Great little thing, built like a tank. A must buy for any beginning bassist.

Ordered this online and it was backordered. Finally UPS delivered it and right out of the box the unit had a loud feedback hum even with all the dials on zero and nothing plugged in. Called customer service and all they offered was to have me take it to my local store. Took it in the next day and they were more than happy to exchange it for a Fender Rumble 15.

Great value practice amp

By Dave Venetianer

from Middle Haddam, Connecticut

Comments about Peavey MAX 158 Bass Practice Combo:

This product performs exactly the way the manufacturer specifies - it's a PRACTICE amp. Practice in this case being defined as one bass player, his bass and this amp. This little fella is a tremendous value, great sound through the speaker, even better through headphones, you can store it on a bookcase when you're not using it. It has plenty of volume for it's size and enough tonal versatility to keep things from getting boring. Very well put together, it appears more roadworthy than some of the more pro costing gear on the market. Adequate documentation but you really don't need much more. It's easy - plug in, turn it on, tune up and have a great practice session.

works for me!!

By John Wilson

from Auburn, NY

Comments about Peavey MAX 158 Bass Practice Combo:

I recently bought this amp for practice at home. It's awesome!! I can plug my mp3 player into it and throw on my headphones and practice away without waking the neighbors. It's suprisingly loud for being such a small package. I use it's vintage voicing as a pre-amp to play at church. It has totally blown away my expectations!!

Great amp for practice

By yagis

from chicagoland area

Comments about Peavey MAX 158 Bass Practice Combo:

This amp is perfect for practicing, but don't expect it to do wonders. It has very basic options, but it has seriously helped me get my chops down. Best part, it's extremely portable! Has an incredible low end for the price/size. This coming from a friend who rocks a 4x10 Behringer!

Great little bass amp

By Kris

from Pa

Comments about Peavey MAX 158 Bass Practice Combo:

I bought this amp for my son, who is a beginning bass player. I have been playing guitar and bass for over 20 years and am really impressed with this little amp. It is great for a practice amp and for someone just learning how to play like my son. It has a strong sound and he can turn it up without loosing clarity. Overall it is great and we would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a small bass amp with good sound.

SUPER AMP AT A SUPER PRICE

By Big John

from Houston, TX

Comments about Peavey MAX 158 Bass Practice Combo:

My son is learning bass and needed an amp. I went to the store prepared to pay more, but was so impressed with this little amp I got it instead. The CD input will be a big help. The tone is surprisingly good for an amp of its size. It's surprisingly loud. The vintage/modern switch is cool and each setting gives a different tone to the sound. It seems to be very well constructed, too. (Typical Peavey)

Awesome Amp for a Great Price

By Daniel

from Riverbank, CA

Comments about Peavey MAX 158 Bass Practice Combo:

This is a great amp for anyone, whether you're just a starter or you need a small compact practice amp. This amp is very easy to take anywhere. It has a great warm tone to it too. This amp is VERY powerful for only 15 watts. I can't even turn it up to 3 without getting yelled at. I turned it up to 8, and with barely hitting the string, It shook my friends entire house. I would recommend this amp to anyone looking to play bass.

Shaking

By Burger

from H-Town

Comments about Peavey MAX 158 Bass Practice Combo:

When I play this amp, my house shakes. Me and my bro play together. I've got an Ibanez GSR200 bass and he's got a Washburn with a 70 W Bherenger V Tone, both cranked up, and you can still hear the bass over the guitar!
