The all-tube Peavey JSX 212 Joe Satriani combo amp is the fruit of a partnership between Peavey and legendary guitar virtuoso Satriani. The JSX 212 translates the tonal flexibility and responsive gain of the Peavey JSX Joe Satriani Signature amp head into a modern combo amp.
Augmenting the original JSX amp's 3-channel, 120W configuration are 2 custom-designed 12" JSX speakers in an open-back cabinet, reverb with master control, and a line out with level control. The Joe Satriani Peavey combo amp also includes global presence and resonance controls; 3-band EQ and level on each channel; FAT switches, and fully adjustable noise gates for the Ultra and Crunch channels.
"We designed the JSX 212 not only for practicality, but also for tone and versatility," says Satriani. "The amp's tone comes to life in a big way using this 2x12 design, and the relationship between the combo and the player sets up an interesting interplay that you can't get with a head. It's a special experience having the amp and speakers in one unit."

I bought this about 3 years ago... Fantastic amp... chimey cleans and great natural overdrive... It is a heavy amp, but is a great asset! I had a custom road case made for it and sit it on top of the road case at gigs. The only problem I had with it was a few months ago, the circuit blew for the tubes, which shuts the whole amp down... Needed a new set of tubes, but the great warranty covered the labor, so I was just out the set of tubes. I pushed them hard, so I don't blame the amp.
I will never part with this amp! I have owned or played almost every amp on the market, and in my opinion this one makes about 90% of them seem like a waste of time and money. This amp is the truth! Any style, anywhere! It is now my practice amp, recording amp, and gig amp! I was about to buy a very expensive Mesa but I tried this amp and realized very quickly that I was throwing away nearly 1500.00! I am obsessed with all tube tone, and this amps tone is so dynamic and versitile, my guitar work clearly shows it. Metal, rock, instrumental rock, and blues work extremely well with it. The effects loop entinsifies the quality of sound of every pedal I have, and I use alot of different types of effects when playing the instrumental stuff. This also stops the loss of true signal between the guitar and amp. The half power switch is great for home use too because at full power this amp is freaking insanely loud!!! Quality, tone, price, versitility, power, headroom, styling, ease of use, standard features; I rate all aspects ten out of ten!!! Peavy and satch really nailed it with this one!!!
Has to be the best sounding amp I have ever played. I own a full stack JMC 800 Marshall, Peavey Classic 50, Fender Twin Reverb 1969, 1954 Fender Baseman. I have to say this JSX 212 just blows them all away. Has every sound I could ever want out of an amp. The clean channel is one of the best I have ever come across. Then you throw in the versatility of having two separte dirty channels to it and you have the best thing on the market today. Thanks Peavey & Joe Satriani, You guys ROCK!!! Terry Monroe
This amp is the last amp I will ever buy!!!! I have been a musician for over 30 years and have played out live for 23 and this amp out delivers every amp I have ever played. Thank you Peavey :-) You and Joe Satriani are on top of your game. Terry Monroe - Wisconsin
I checked quite a few amps first and liked the reviews on this one! Cleans are chimey, Crunch and Ultra sound great! I sit it on top of the custom roadcase I bought for it to get it up off the floor... Lots of power!!! Sure, it's heavy, but it is compact and won't disappoint... I play 6 and 7 string guitars and the speakers can handle it... I am glad I got it... By the way, I have been playing on this amp for over a year... NO problems...
Sure, Marshall has the name, but when I checked out this JSX, I made the decision to get it... I gig a lot and bought a custom road case for it... I sit the amp on top of it, so the sound is coming straight at me... great chimey clean sounds and the crunch channel is really all I need... Running at the master volume of 3 will handle most gigs; I actually have to turn down at some places, but it's got power to spare...Joe Satriani and Peavey made a great amp... I have no regrets on this one... Footswitch is sturdy too! Long cord as well if you need it... If I had to complain, it is HEAVY! Built like a tank!
I'd recommend this amp to any gigging guitar players, or just anyone in a rock/metal band. The 3 channels allow for some versitle playing, but I mostly use it for that 'balls to the wall' sound. The crunch channel sounds better than most of the marshalls. Marshalls can be very dry, so if you're like me and like a wet sound, this amp will work out well for you. If you're playing uses a lot of clean tones, you may want to pick up that EQ pedal for some balance.
I know most people look at these reviews b4 buying an amp...at least I always have. This bad-boy is simply stunning. I can validly say that I have purchased and taken home every 212 combo amp that guitar center sells. I have to admit that this is the best sounding amp on the market as far as tube amps are concerned. Yes folks, that's right I have got the balls to compare this to a Mesa Boogie 212 Roadster. Now, don't get me wrong I thoroughly enjoyed the boogie, but not for over $1100 more...no freakin' way!!!! Major point though...buy an EQ pedal. This will simply bring the amp to life. I purchased the boss GE-7...works so beautifully:):):):):):):)
Been playing for over 20 yrs. I play in coverband, recording sessions, own label ,etc . I never thought I would say these words but Peavey does ROCK! This amp had everything I was looking for and more. You see my situation is that my band is starting to play some 'tight' gigs, meaning they are a lil smaller than the normal large scale venues we normally play. I needed another rig to bring to these shows instead of bringing my microwave-sized rack and 2 12" cabs. I researched and playing ALOT of amps, this amp won. The tones are fantastic, normally I use BBE to boost, and believe it or not it looks like I don't even need it. I was using a Marshall VM265 thru Pod XT live but the sound was very thin. Now, I just use the Pod as an effects processor instead running thru EL. For anyone looking for a BIG sound in an amp, NOT thin, try this amp out. I HIGHLY recommend it. ~D http://www.myspace.com/7thfret
im buying this amp. i don't care how long it takes to get it but im getting it. it has every sound possible! the strange thing is, with the right pickups you pretty much dial in the brown sound! it gives you the brown sound better than the 5150 ever did! yes, that does sound strange but fortunately its true. if you have the money, just buy it without thinking about it. trust me, its worth it
