Good for the price

By DOUGLAS LEON

from San Diego, Ca

First, there is some confusion about this guitar. Guitar Center has the country of origin shown as South Korea. This is wrong, all of these have always been made in China, never South Korea. When I received it the box said Made In China and the same thing on the back of the guitar headstock. I hope Guitar Center will change their info online since it is actually false advertising. The picture shows large rectangle inlays, these were changed to thin bowtie type inlays a few years ago which is what mine had, as mentioned by other reviewers. The picture should also be changed. As for the guitar itself, I really enjoyed playing it. It sounded nice to me. All of my electric guitars have been solid-bodies and this was my first semi-hollow so I enjoyed the tone. It was comfortable, not too thick and had the Gibson kind of neck that I like. 24.75", a flatter radius and kind of a thin neck which I prefer to my Telecaster. On the downside, the tuners and knobs seemed a little cheap, the tuners were a little bit hard to turn than what I'm used to and I would worry about longevity. There was a buzz on the A string around the 5th fret area, that's not a real concern, it could have been fixed maybe even with fresh strings or a slight adjustment if necessary. Didn't really even hear it through the amp just at the guitar. Everything else about the guitar seemed fine. I think at this price point this is a very good guitar. The little things that bothered me seem pretty acceptable at this price. I kept it for a week and ended up returning it mainly because the thing about China bothered me the most. I don't have a lot of respect for so many of the things coming from China that we buy these days and it will be a while before their quality is brought up to par, assuming they care enough to do that. While returning this one I ordered a Schecter Corsair which was twice the price, actually does come from Korea and I hear many great things about it.

Misleading Picture - Misleading Price

By Matt Peterson

from St. Paul, MN

First of all, this picture isn't how the guitar looks. The inlays are much different. That being said, this guitar is worth much more than the price they have it at. It frets so easy and smooth and it sounds like a dream plugged into any amp. I tried one of these while testing amps and I had to have it. So much tone and the guitar feels higher quality than the Epiphones or Ibanez counterparts. Please go play this guitar!

The best ES-335 copy!

By Tomas Majer

from Colorado, USA

I have my JF1-EX Sunburst for about 6 months and it is the best guitar I've had. The craftsmanship is great. After a very detailed search I've found two imperfections, clear coat around the nut and fret signalization (on top of the inlays in the binding) The best feature IMO is the neck. Amazingly fast, slightly tilted and the shape is very convenient for any style of playing. The guitar is very versatile, literally I'd recommend it for any musical style (including metal) Very stable, the arched top is very thick, sounds amazing, great pick ups IMO and the hardware is very decent as well, no problems with the string intonation or wrong set up. Electronics appear to be great. Great, great guitar. Looks slightly different than the original, I like the body shape on my Peavey better. You can't go wrong with this one. Strongly recommend for anyone who is looking for a hollow body or semi-hollow body guitar (Sheraton, Casino)

JF-1 Dream guitar

By JEFF PECORARO

from Poplar Grove, Illinois

First of all I want to say that ordering something through guitar center is THE WAY to go!! Reliable, responsible, and informative help! Plus my product hasn't been touched by anyone except me! It is such a joy to get a guitar and be the first to play it! I have purchased 2 guitars (Takamine 12 string and the Peavey JF-1) from GC and both arrived well packed, and the best thing is they came out of the box in perfect condition and played beautifully right away! (just had to tune them) The JF-1 is THE BEST guitar of it's style not only for the price but outplays a ton of the others even with 4 figure price tags!! I have wide hands and could never play a 335 because of the lack of space at the neck, but not so with the Peavey!! Plenty of room and the playability is awesome. Stop reading my review and order one...then you too will know what an awesome guitar this truly is!

versatile, survivable, and beautiful

By Mike

from south hadley

this was my second guitar and i didnt really know what to look for in a guitar. i play metal and rock music, and even though this guitar is truly meant for jazz style playing, i can get perfect clean and rough metallica sounds and disturbed solos are effortless. i play this guitar through a peavey vypyr, allowing endless possibilities. the action is amazing, especially with my ernie ball extra slinkies. it also looks amazing (i ordered it from sweetwater in transparent red and custom bowtie inlays) and gives me endless compliments in my guitar class. the only issue ive encountered is how i dont have any cases to fit it for safe transport, though to my amusement it fits perfectly in an acoustic case. if youre thinking of ordering this guitar, i say go for it. its helped me learn many things. also, i have accidentally dropped this guitar on concrete and the damage is unnoticeable. there are two minscule dents on the body that are only visible under direct light and concentrated staring. though i dont do gigs yet, im positive this would survive any abuse that you put it through. (reminder: this review is from a beginner, so some information may be a atd off, but this is still an amazing guitar to me)

smooth as butter

By Frank

Great looking and great sounding, exactly what I've been looking for. I wont bore you with all the details, but I will say this, buying this guitar will end your search for that thick jazz sound. If jazz is your thing, this is a good buy..

UNDERDOG OF HOLLOWBODY GUITARS

By B J

from Galvez

I been wanting a hollowbody for a long time but just didn't want to spend the big bucks for Brand "G". So I got one of these. Good move. Saved a whole bunch of money, got a great sounding and great playing guitar. Depending on how you set your amp this guitar is capable of handling any style of music you want to play. Nice action right out the box. You should hear it after I had a pro setup done, SWEET. I saved so much money I was able to get another smaller amp and some other accesories to go with this guitar. Thanks Peavey for great amps and now my first Peavey guitar.

Good guitar for the Money

By JF-1 Owner

from Montgomery Al

I've owned many guitars and still do, been playing for over 25 years, and this is one of the easiest guitars to fret, and best sounding I've ever played. I've had the JF-1 for over a year, and it is my go-to guitar for jazz and some blues. I still love my Fender, but this is a great value.
