Nice but preferred the Bassbreaker

Comments about Peavey Classic 30 112 30W 1x12 Tube Combo Amp:

I compared this to a Blackstar 40 and Fender Bassbreaker and ended up keeping the Bassbreaker for its nice cleans and awesome high gain tones. The Classic is really nice. Very quiet - amazingly quiet loop and as gain keeps rising. The gain comes on a bit strong, didn't care for the boost, and the gain tone is more "fuzz" rather than "crunch" in my opinion, definitely less than "plexi". Very chimey though. I also talked with a tech that said Peavey's were horrible to work on...!?!? Overall I just like the Fender Bassbreaker better.

Comments about Peavey Classic 30 112 30W 1x12 Tube Combo Amp:

When I first got this amp, I was just wanting a tube amp with a great clean channel. Let me tell you, the dirty channel is awesome as well. While there is a surprising amount of gain on tap, I like to have the gain to where it's just barely starting to break up. That lets me put an overdrive pedal in front with the output turned way up to get an awesome tone.

The clean channel sounds fantastic too. While you can get a good clean tone on the dirty channel with your guitar's volume rolled off, the clean channel has such a great sounding low end. It compliments my Telecaster perfectly. nowadays I'm usually running an EHX Soulfood into the clean channel for a little bit of break up, which sounds fantastic.

This amp also has an effects loop, which is a nice feature on a channel switching amp.

30 watts is a sweet spot for this EL84 amp. It's loud enough to play any gig, but getting the clean channel to break up isn't unreasonable in most situations, like with higher wattage amps.

The only downside of this amp is that it is relatively heavy for its size, but that's a small price to pay for the durablity you're getting.

I have the model before they added the ugly curve above the speaker, but I would hope the newer models sound the same.

Comments about Peavey Classic 30 112 30W 1x12 Tube Combo Amp:

I play blues and classic rock with this beauty. I love the clean channel. It makes my les paul sound like butta. The overdrive is great too. If you like metal you would need pedals to get your sound. 3 channel EQ is a must for me and I am loving every minute I spend with this. Only had it about 1 week and can't stop playing. Why did I wait so long. go try one and you will fall in love with it too

Comments about Peavey Classic 30 112 30W 1x12 Tube Combo Amp:

I reviewed this amp earlier and recommended it for home use. I failed to add that it is a great amp for gigging and playing out too. It has more than enough volume and clean head room to play in any small or medium sized venue. I just had to add this, as I don't want to sell this amp short. This is a great amp.

Comments about Peavey Classic 30 112 30W 1x12 Tube Combo Amp:

This is a great amp for jazz guitar. The guitarsound cuts through when playing with piano, bass and drum ensemble. It has much more warmth and character than a solid state amp.

      Tonal Monster

Comments about Peavey Classic 30 112 30W 1x12 Tube Combo Amp:

This amp is all about sound and tone. It has great tone throughout the neck of the guitar with both pickups. I use it with a Gib LP, Fen Strat, PRS Santana & Fen Tele. The tone is tremendous with a clean sound or overdriven sound like in classic rock or blues. This is not a metal amp unless you have a Metal Pedal to attach to it. The sound is incredible at any volume level. Tone is great no matter how you adjust the bass, middle or treble - all tone controls are very responsive too. Great sound! Build very well with the vintage tweed look but excellent sound out of the EL84 power tubes.
