Overview

Peavey Electronics and leading iPhone applications developer Agile Partners have joined forces to launch AmpKit (sold separately), an unparalleled guitar amp and effects iPhone application, and AmpKit LiNK, a high fidelity audio interface for the iPhone, iPod touch* and iPad. Together, AmpKit and AmpKit LiNK provide musicians of all skill levels with a powerful and convenient way to jam with high quality tones anytime and anywhere.

The AmpKit LiNK audio interface raises the audio fidelity bar for the iPhone platform. AmpKit LiNK is an iPhone, iPod touchand iPad interface for electric guitar, bass, or any line level source, with an output that can be connected to headphones, powered speakers or a PA.

AmpKit LiNK's revolutionary CrossTalk Eliminator solves the feedback problem inherent in existing unpowered iPhone interfaces. Unpowered guitar interfaces suffer from feedback when using headphones. AmpKit LiNK is a powered device with circuitry that virtually eliminates feedback.

The interface can be used with any recording, processing, or tuning application, including Agile Partners' GuitarToolkit, one of the highest-rated applications in the iTunes App Store.

*Except first-generation iPod touch

This thing works quite well for both ampKit+ and its competitor, Amplitube. It has better sound/less feedback than the similar iRig due to the fact that it is powered (2 AA batteries). This is definitely the interface to get for your iDevice, and it is $10 cheaper than the iRig since you can get it discounted at amazon or ebay. Minus one star for kinda cheap construction. If it holds up, then no harm / no foul, but I don't like it when stuff seems cheap, and this does. Bottom line -- if I lost it I would replace it in a heartbeat. If it breaks, I'll be disappointed but not entirely surprised.

This review does not reflect on Guitar Center what so ever. Guitar Center offers terrific products BUT EVEN MORE IMPORTANTLY great customer service. They took no time returning this item. For what ever reason, this did not work well with my iPhone 5. Tons of static and I just wasn't satisfied after a few days. I plan to upgrade to the AmpKit HD this week and hopefully it will be a much better solution. I was using a brand new AmpKit with new cables as well as my new Fender Guitar. I know the HD is more expensive but for me, I wouldn't go with the analog device.

Great value

I absolutely love this product. It's easy to set up and works great with Apples GarageBand. It worked with my old 4s and still works on the 5s.

Pretty Cool

By Paul McElreath

from Asheville, NC

It's a toy and toys are fun. What I like about it: No cross talk and built solid. What I don't like about it: Just more pieces of gear and wires laying around. Definitely will use though. Sounded great through and ipod touch into an aux port into a multieffects board into the preamp in a combo amp.

No Complaints-great ap

By Douglas Miller

from Toronto OH

My first Ampkit link went bad the first week I got it. Lots of crackling, dropouts and a low input signal. GC took care of me and sent me a new one. It's been working great. No problems at all with this one. It is a little delicate, especially the input jack, so I've been very careful with it. A new HD version of AmpKit link is due out the 2nd qtr of 2012. As far as the companion ap (AmpKit+) good Lord it sounds nice! Sounds better than Amplitube and JamUp Pro aps in my opinion.

Wait for version 2 on this one

By David Phillips

from Corpus Christi

Worked, sort of, for 5 minutes. Bought at my local GC with high hopes. Out of the box had issues. Could not get a green light 100% even with different instrument cables. Had to jiggle and turn the iPhone input jack to get weak half sound or just intense feedback. Checked the web, forums, etc. Played with all the settings on the amp and pedals, put my phone in Airplane mode ... no dice. Returned to GC for a replacement. Tried it out in the store ... DOA. Got the iRig instead ... so far, so good. The App ( Ampkit ) rocks .... the Peavy Link connector ... junk. Check Amazon reviews before ya buy or wait for version 2 to be released. Poor quality control ... totally bummed.

Not yet ready

By RC

from West Covina, CA

The idea behind this device is pretty cool, and it was enough for me to take a chance on buying it despite some of the reviews stating problems with the plug. Well, it worked pretty well for a few weeks and was a lot of fun, but now it won't work unless I wiggle the plug so that my Ipad can recognize it. Not worth risking damage to a $500 Ipad to get this thing to work properly. Don't they test these things to make sure they're ready to be sold? Now let's see if Peavey takes care of its customers...

Really cool toy + awesome practice amp.

By Alex Kehres

from Mason OH

First of all it can allow you to play guitar through your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch. I have downloaded both AmpKit+ and Amplitude. They are both $20 for the full version. I would recommend to get the full version but they do both have free version. The Ampkit+ has many more effects and amp models but you have to buy them additionally to the $20. The Amplitude has 5 more effect pedals and a 4-track recorder and master FX as additional in app purchases. The AmpKit Link works well with both of these apps as well as any other tuner app. The Link is better that iRig because it has a longer cable, it is battery powered(AAA,batteries are included with it) which helps to reduce battery usage of your iPhone and helps eliminate feedback better than the iRig, it also has metal jacks compared to the hard plastic jacks of iRig, and most of all it is $10 cheaper than iRig. The great thing about the Link is you can plug it into AmpKit or Amplitude and record. You have the abilityy write songs and record them where ever you are. I gave it a 4 star because it is put together sort of sloppily. I would recommend going to Guitar Center and buy the AmpKit Link with a 2 year warranty plan for $5 which covers anything. Even with the warranty and tax it is still cheaper than iRig. Go get it.

It works better than the iRig

By Steve

from Texas

I have the iRig and the ampkit link. I like the ampkit link because it is battery powered, I think it works better than the iRig and it has no feedback like the iRig. I will sell my iRig and keep the ampkit link
