Comments about Peavey 6505+ 120W Guitar Amp Head:

I tried this out the other day after getting out of church. I played every amp under the sun on top of this one. I tried Diezel, the EVH 5150 reissue, Marshalls, Mesa Boogies, and even more peaveys XXXs and stuff. If you want an amp with really deep bottom end this is not the amp for you get a Mesa Boogie. If you want an amp that is great for leads without any effects this is what you want. My biggest plus about this amp is that not only does the lead channel sound amazing but the clean channel sounds really good as well. I WILL be buying one of these within the next month or so.

Comments about Peavey 6505+ 120W Guitar Amp Head:

If you play Black, Death, Nu or Speed Metal this amp is a no-brainer for the price. You could play a show right out of the box with this monster. I've always had Marshall JCM800's and also had a VHT head but this amp sounds way better for my style of music. My Marshalls always sounded so boomy, thin and flabby and always needed a whole chain of stompboxes to get the right tone. Not with the 6505+. Its plug and play right out of the box. You might want add a noise gate of some sort and possibly a digital delay or reverb to the effects loop but thats about it because all your tone and distortion will come from this amp. The only thing that sounds as dark and crunchy as this amp is a Krankenstein + but its another $700-800 plus their customer service is dismal to say the least or perhaps a Bogner for triple the price. Customer service with Peavey is awesome too. You can speak to a real person right here in the USA in less than a minute after calling and it comes with a 5 year warranty as well. There is a reason why Guitar Center stocks this amp and sells so many. Any questions, talk to my buddy Hawkey at the Beaverton Oregon store and he will tell why this head is pretty much the best you can buy for the money.

Pure Metal Tone

Comments about Peavey 6505+ 120W Guitar Amp Head:

I just recently got this amp and cannot stop playing it. When i first got the amp i cranked the gain (Pre and Post Stages) and was amazed at how much i got out of the amp. You can get even more if you mess with the prescene (low end) and resonence (high end) knobs. I also run a Tube screamer through and the sound is pure metal. I higly suggest gettin a noise suppresor though if you plan on having the amp above 3 but it is still a monster of an amp and virtually indestructible.

Comments about Peavey 6505+ 120W Guitar Amp Head:

Bought this amp from the city GC back in june (about 6 months ago) PERFECT! NO PROBLEMS! After trying out my top choices Mesa, Marshall, and Peavey, it came down to Mesa and Peavey. (Marshall had seemed a bit overrated and cliche) The Mesa tripple rectifier and the Peavey played the same, however the Peavey is cheaper and I liked that it gave me more control with my effects and gain! Crapload of gain, great overdrive, and this thing will CRANK! I only turn it up to 3 when im with the band and it is STILL overpowering everything else and even the symbols! I have it runnning 3+ hours every day and it still is strong as NEW! great for ALL styles of music, and built very strong and road ready, this amp is worthy of its name and worthy of its money! i would pay 500 more dollars for this amp if i had to! Overall, great sound, great price, great structure, great amp. Peavey really knows what theyre doing!

This Head Is Simply AMAZING

Comments about Peavey 6505+ 120W Guitar Amp Head:

I just got this head recently and it is absolutely wonderful. The clarity of every note that comes out of it is just wonderful I may only play in drop D but some of my friends who play in drop b try it out and there astounded by the clarity of there notes in it. My friends have the crate bv120 head and they are going to return theres asap to get the same one as mine. If your into heavy chugs clean sounds and an amp full of loud and reliablility go no further

Comments about Peavey 6505+ 120W Guitar Amp Head:

I fall in love with this amp all over again everyday and each time I add something to my pedal board the crushing sound just gets better. When I first bought this amp it was a bit out of my league as a player. I just plugged my guitar straight into it and it was too much. You really need a few items. I almost sold it. WOW explosive! You need a noise suppressor, they should sell them stock with the amp. You should also try a sonic optimizer (BBE) and run it through the effects loop. You don't need a distortion pedal throw them out! A boost, or overdrive will work. If these things don't help, then buy a piece of land in the desert and a generator. THE AMP IS LOUD!! But it has sick tone and crushing distortion/gain.

rip your face off

Comments about Peavey 6505+ 120W Guitar Amp Head:

bought this amp to replace my jcm 2000 dsl 100,I loved my marshall but it did not have the gain i was looking for. so after reaserching different tube heads and trying a few out i picked this amp. take 5 min. to dial in your tone (if you know what you are doing)and the sound will rip your face off. this amp has tons of gain so you need a noise gate for sure.

Comments about Peavey 6505+ 120W Guitar Amp Head:

This has to be the greatest amp I've played through. I play a Gibson SG standard through my noise suppressor(much needed if turned up too loud!), digital delay, and Mesa cab. This amp beats anything and you should deffinately get it. I can play blues, rock, metal, even jazz with the right settings. SO GO GET ONE!

An excellent head.

Comments about Peavey 6505+ 120W Guitar Amp Head:

There are few amps as heralded as the 6505/6505+ line, and for good reasons. I've owned many amps (Mesa, Splawn, Orange, Diezel, etc) and while this isn't in the same build quality as a handmade Diezel or Splawn, it hangs tough with any of these tonewise. If you use your ears, you can get decent cleans, excellent crunch/midrange heavy rock tones, and tight, aggressive, thrashy madness. Its cleans are unremarkable, but for heavy, focused attack and really big rhythm and lead sounds, this amp does it in spades. Be sure to pair it with some decent speakers though, like any good amp. For $1200, there's virtually nothing out there new that can touch the 6505+. This is not a blues amp. This is not a funk amp. This is a rock/metal amp. Keep that in mind and you'll be fine.

I Tip my hat to Peavey 6505+

By Ty Schultz _

Comments about Peavey 6505+ 120W Guitar Amp Head:

Seeing I bought my 2nd 6505+ at GC I thought I would drop my 2 cents on this head ~ (Full discloser I still have my 1st head I ever bought the 6505+ For the sale price I couldnt pass up getting a second one) Even off Sale this is the one your looking for to buy. For 3 years of bouncing around in the back of a Box Truck from here & there & I have had NO issues at all with my 1st head,This things a TANK & Looks like a just bought it the other day ,When I show up for sound check or the Practice~Hall its like greating a old friend = ) Now as far as this being a metal only head,I would like to disagree a bit on this part....Your looking for a tube head so I'm betting you have the pedals to go with it = ) I can Dial in a Albert King,SRV,Stone's,Beatles,Chuck Berry Tone in a Blink of a eye not a problem. Now as far as Playing Metal ~ YEA this is it !!! Stop looking The versitility of this head is is amazing I can do the 5FDP,Trivium,Slayer,Megadeth tones & drop to a Alice Cooper/AC}DC Tone at a drop of a hat. I do recommend you also get a Sonic Stomp ,Sonic Maximizer by BBE (IT IS NOT A EQ,READ ABOUT IT) as you should have with any tube amp & Monster Cables (They DO MAKE A DIFFERNCE) (Just my thoughts here)I have been through so many Cable's & Pedal's over the years & I ALWAYS come back to these Brands to work best with my Peavey no matter what type of music I play Slow & Steady Wins as long as it's LOUD =)
