Peavey's long-running XR series mixers, updated with new features.

The Peavey XR 8600 powered mixer features 8 new ultralow-noise mic preamps, a subsonic filter to prevent low-frequency problems, and multi-point clip sampling that makes the exclusive DDT speaker protection even more effective. Uses 2 power amps that can run in parallel in Dual Main mode—making their full power available to the main output—or used independently in Main/Monitor mode.

2 dedicated 7-band graphic equalizers—one each for mains and monitors, with patented FLS (Feedback Locating System) on both—feature multi-Q bandwidths to bring enhanced definition to the low frequencies and assist the FLS algorithm in identifying feedback. In the DSP section, a suite of vocal enhancers, delays, reverbs, and other effects with parameter control are assignable to each input channel as well as the main and monitor outputs via independent level controls.

  • Surprising Performance

As reviewed by Guitrist on 6/11/2007

One of our lead guitarists just bought one of these and we used it for the first time last night. I was very pleasantly surprised by the unit's performance. The overall sound was great. The FLS system (first I've ever used) was instrumental in assisting me in locating problematic frequencies. The channel mute button is a great feature during breaks. It's got a nice effects processor too. And... I couldn't believe how good it sounded after my bass amp speaker blew last night. I patched my bass directly into the PA head, dialed it in, and finished the night without my bass rig. A friend of mine in the audience had no idea I had finished the night playing my bass through the PA. A great product.

  • peavey 8600 powered mixer

As reviewed by motarmstrong on 6/4/2007

I bought the 8600 for my professional three piece band,I run two peavey Sp5s.Bridged. There seems to be heaps of grunt, we mike the drums and sometimes guitar with 3 vocals. Although could do with a couple more mic inputs as the drummer uses 4 mics. The weight of the 8600 is pretty good for its power and for a Powered mixer you could'nt really get anything better for the cost. The speakers are mighty fine too.

  • Small Package, Big Muscles

As reviewed by Garey on 4/13/2010

I previously owned a Mackie 808s.Quite honestly, it worked just fine for me for years. I stepped up to the 1008 model and on 2v seperate gigs, it was distorting and clipping, only to find out later there are some issues with the limiters on that model. Then I was introduced to the Peavey RX-8600...unbelievable power for a 1200 watt power mixer!!! It's clean and has "Muscled" 2 different rooms with 500 seating capacity. And here is the proverbial "Icing on the Cake. We have yet to turn the main gain dail past the 9 oclock position...25% power, absolutely unprecededented raw clean power! This power mixer is the best I've ever used and I've set up and operated all types of systems large and small in my 40 years of doing live sound. This Mixer has the punch of Mike Tyson in his prime...Great job Peavey, I've used Peavey gear before and it was great, why I got away from it is a beyond me! Whithout question folks,if you want a small power mixer with a lot of head room, very clean, crisp projection. And can push six 15" 500 watts speakers with horns along with 2 15" active subs, this is the power mixer for you!
