Peavey's long-running XR series mixers, updated with new features.

The Peavey XR 8600 powered mixer features 8 new ultralow-noise mic preamps, a subsonic filter to prevent low-frequency problems, and multi-point clip sampling that makes the exclusive DDT speaker protection even more effective. Uses 2 power amps that can run in parallel in Dual Main mode-making their full power available to the main output-or used independently in Main/Monitor mode.

2 dedicated 7-band graphic equalizers-one each for mains and monitors, with patented FLS (Feedback Locating System) on both-feature multi-Q bandwidths to bring enhanced definition to the low frequencies and assist the FLS algorithm in identifying feedback. In the DSP section, a suite of vocal enhancers, delays, reverbs, and other effects with parameter control are assignable to each input channel as well as the main and monitor outputs via independent level controls.

Peavey XR 8600 Powered Mixer Features:

  • 600W/ch @ 4 ohms

Great Value!!

Well, I purchased the Peavey XR8600 and 2 Yamaha S115V 15" speakers and played a show in a 40' x 80' ballroom of a hotel running 5 vocals, bass drum, keyboard, a line in from acoustic guitar amp, and an iPod (in addition, we had 2 non-mic'ed Fender guitar amps and a bass amp). It performed very well and still had plenty of head room -- didn't really push. I was curious about the Mackie 808M because I had heard great things, so I took the Peavey back and got the Mackie. Within 5 minutes I realized the difference was night and day. The Mackie couldn't drive the 15" speakers nearly as proficiently as the Peavey. I returned the Mackie and got the Peavey I had originally. Plugged it back up and knew immediately that I made the right decision. After that, I hooked the speakers up with 12 gauge Speakon cables (replacing the 14 gauge 1/4" plug cables) and got an even better sound than before. The Peavey XR8600 is a GREAT value!! It doesn't have quite all the bells and whistles as the Mackie, but it really does the job! Two thumbs up!

peavey 8600 powered mixer

I bought the 8600 for my professional three piece band,I run two peavey Sp5s.Bridged. There seems to be heaps of grunt, we mike the drums and sometimes guitar with 3 vocals. Although could do with a couple more mic inputs as the drummer uses 4 mics. The weight of the 8600 is pretty good for its power and for a Powered mixer you could'nt really get anything better for the cost. The speakers are mighty fine too.

Sweet Little Mixer!

I recently purchased the Peavey XR 8600 Powered Mixer to host some open mic events. The compact size and the built in vocal effects were a big plus and work really well. I power three Yamaha BR12 speaker/monitors. Have had 3 vocals, 2 guitars mic'ed and 1 bass guitar direct with no problems. It has already well paid for itself and has plenty of power for small to medium sized venues.

Surprising Performance

One of our lead guitarists just bought one of these and we used it for the first time last night. I was very pleasantly surprised by the unit's performance. The overall sound was great. The FLS system (first I've ever used) was instrumental in assisting me in locating problematic frequencies. The channel mute button is a great feature during breaks. It's got a nice effects processor too. And... I couldn't believe how good it sounded after my bass amp speaker blew last night. I patched my bass directly into the PA head, dialed it in, and finished the night without my bass rig. A friend of mine in the audience had no idea I had finished the night playing my bass through the PA. A great product.
