Technologically advanced and affordable guitar modeling amplifier.

With double the processing power, models and effects of competitive modeling amplifiers, the VYPYR dramatically redefines the power and scope of modern guitar amplification. VYPYR amplifiers are based on powerful 32-bit, floating-point SHARC processors that enable highly detailed, accurate modeling as well as vastly enhanced flexibility and features than ever before available in guitar amplification.

Featuring 24 amp channel models--both the clean and distorted channels of 12 popular amps for the first time anywhere--plus 11 editable preamp "stomp box" effects and 11 editable post-amp "rack" effects with dual-parameter control. Players can use up to five effects simultaneously. When used with the optional Peavey Sanpera foot controller, the possibilities further expand from 12 in-amp presets to 400 programmable presets, with an on-board looper and more. The VYPYR also acts as its own computer audio interface, with a built-in studio-quality USB 2.0 output on most models that is recognized by computers as an audio device. The entire six-model VYPYR Series features the easy-to-use Peavey WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) interface.

  • Tone Machine!

As reviewed by Jonathon on 9/27/2010

So I just got this amp, and I must say, this is the BEST sounding amp I have EVER heard, or had the pleasure to play on. I Have only found a few cons to this amp, mostly Pros. This amp has ALL of the tones you could ever need, PLUS. This thing can go from the Cleanest cleans, to the MEANEST of means, and ALL in betweens. Every amp model is purely GOLD, maybe not 100% as accurate as the individual heads, but 99.999% in my oppinon, and for the price, you better not complain! I have got some acoustic tones out of mine and Dimebag tones, to Hendrix, to Gary Rossington (Lynyrd Skynyrd), and ACDC to Modern Metal bands. I mostly play Metal and Rock, but the cleans and 'Tweeds' and Twangs are just as clear and powerful as the metal tones. All of the stompbox effects are Stunning, and edit capable. So are the Rack Effects. Plus built in Delay and reverb that does NOT take the place of your Effects, INGENIOUS! 2 modes of all amps as well. It has the Digital tone, and the Tube power, which combines VERY well in this case. The tubes only take about 1-2 minutes to get warm enough for full tone, not the 3 the manual says. Most other Tube amps take 5-10 minutes. I am running a Dean Razorback v 255 with a Dimebucker, so I cant speak for the tone through ALL guitars and pickups, but Im sure this will still amaze you no matter what you use. If you get the Sanpera Pedals it opens up whole new worlds of fun, and simplicity. One thing I was afraid of was that I would need a Noise Suppressor because of tube amps fame for MASSIVE feedback, but so far except for a little buzz on hi Gain, no feedback on me. Recording on this is simple to, take a Regular usb 2.0 cable, plug it in to the amp and into you computer, and open up your favorite recording program, and record! My amp came with a Demo of Peavey's Revalver MKII recording software. The Volume levels are great too! It has great bedroom levels at like levels .5-1.5, after that it gets into good practice levels, then after that Small Gig levels, like bars and such. It also features an auxillary input, and a headphone jack. Now the 3 cons I found: 1. The Weight, it weighs a TON 2. The Cab extention is a 16ohm requirement, not a Very common usage of ohm cabs 3. The looper takes a little getting used to and it is ONLY usable with the pedalboard, my advice when recording the loop is to turn the volume pedal down a tad, because when you play it back, it can over power your current playing at max volume. Other than those few cons, this is an INCREDIBLE buy, definately worth it. Get the pedal if you can to.

  • Amazing Amp

As reviewed by Paul Larson on 2/17/2010

I've never been a huge fan of Peavey products, even when I worked in a store that sold tons of Peavey gear each year. However, when I tried this amp at Guitar Center I was blown away! I had arrived planning on purchasing either a Egnater Renegade or a Bogner Alchemist but playing the Vypyr 120 with tubes changed my mind. The Egnater and Bogner are great amps but the Vypyr has so many more options, sounds good, and is an absolute blast to play. Most importantly, every amp and stomp box model is very useful, and it is super-easy to get a great tone within seconds. My only hope is that it lives up to Peavey's reputation for making bulletproof products that last forever! A hardy thanks to Hartley Peavey and his engineers for this amazing product!

  • Great sound, Features that dont work

As reviewed by Duker on 3/17/2011

Its a really good sounding amp you should be able to find your tone. The advertised features like Studio Quality USB and Patch software. Either do not work or are hyped. If you want to update the software You need to buy a special USB/Midi cable That cost extra. Without a sanpera foot pedal this this is Useless for gigging With
