AWESOME AMP!

This amp is totally amazing. I have owned it for about a moonth now and i have not had a problem yet.The tone is great. A great feature is a "boost" button, this is for the drive channel and gives you extra gain. There is also a button for the clean channel that makes the tone very bright and it sounds awesome.Overall this amp is extremely versatile and can play almost any genre of music. Get this amp! it is totaly amazing for the price that you pay.

Going for tone without going broke

Warning: My playing style is jazzified cross-over country-western with latin/Brazilian undertones and rhythms, but HEAVY on jazz sound. That being said, I had been looking for a moderate-wattage amp for about a month. As I was about to purchase the Randall's RG100G3--with that MOSFET technology--I plugged into a Peavey 212 100w Valveking. Stop the presses! To be sure I was sane, I went over to the ol' Fender combos and found that I had been presented with the amp I was searching for. If you're moving toward or currently playing jazz at larger venues, and you're searching for a decent amp without blowing your entire tax refund, you should give this amp serious consideration. I've owned it for two months now--wasn't going to halo-effect this amp by gushing the same day I bought it--and am so pleased. Imagine my surprise when the price tag was mis-marked to the tune of $75 cheaper. So, I could spend about a manhour's worth more money than the innovative Randall and get a fully-tubed (3 pre-amp, 4 power tubes), sweet-sounding Peavey.

best 100w amp for the money!!

great clean channel. i get any sound from blues to heavy heavy metal. the guy that didn't like the distortion channel only played the 1x12 or he didn't adjust on the settings enough while on the dirty channel. this is the best 100 w all tubed amp for the money. i have been plaing for 27 years and found no other amp to compare!1

Headroom and Aggression

First off this amp has the power to do any small venue, overpowers a drummer if you dial it past 3. The Clean channel does not break up until you really push it. The lead channel is quite pointless without having the boost button on, but with it you'll have the perfect gain to do blues or punk. If you want some metal tones, you'll have to get a booster of some sort, the Rocktron Nitro works great, then it saturates and has one of the most Aggressive sounds imaginable. But the Effects loop has its issues, you can't daisy chain the power cord of pedals from the effects loop to a pedal that's in the line in, grounding issues maybe, and it has problems addressing volume in it too. But it's manageable. The only other con is that you're running 100 watts of tube power through 2 speakers, massive power for any speakers so an external cabinet is very important if you intend to really turn it up. The Valveking is a great amp for the money, and with the right adjustments it DOES sound like a Marshall cranked to 10 at only 3, so whether you get the head or the combo, you'll be satisfied.

Great Tone!

Wow! Traded in my Flextone 111 for the VK. The Flextone had a lot of features, but it couldn't come close to the sound of the VK. Add in the Digitech GNX4 and I can get way more sounds than with the Flextone, plus great tone from the amp by itself. Not to mention insanely loud. I play a Strat and a Les Paul, definitly like the tone with the Les Paul best, sweet rich sustain, really screams when cranked. The texture control adds some new cool sound, and the resonance control makes the low end punch. The clean channel sounds great, from funky to bright, shimmering highs. I would like a way to dirty up the clean channel a bit. Nice clean looking amp, simple and straight forward controls. Was considering other amps, but I think I've found what I'm looking for, a lot of amp for the money.
